One of a kind living space -- an observation tower perched in between old redwoods. Fitted with a queen sized bed, electricity, sink, mini fridge, gas camp stove and an outdoor shower and bathroom at the base. Located on 40 acres of private land.

The Space

The space is on a stunning and secluded apple farm just 55 miles north of the Golden Gate bridge. The property is peaceful and private, nestled between ancient redwoods, beautiful meadows, and a large apple orchard. There are no other houses or roads visible from the property.

The Neighborhood

Located just outside Sebastopol in the heart of West Sonoma County, the property is accessible to the areas best wineries, restaurants, and beaches (including dog friendly ones). Close to Healdsburg, Bodega Bay, Freestone, Occidental, Guerneville, Monte Rio, Marshall and the Armstrong Redwoods.

Other Things to Note

Guests will have access to most of the 40 acre property, and have use of an Electrolux washer/dryer. Having your own car is suggested, although arranging a driver for wine tasting is easy. The proprietor (Fred) is a retired senior airline executive with strong expertise in hospitality, who asks that guests respect the natural beauty and serenity and refrain from hosting parties on the land. The unit is one of three located at this property, two of which sleep two, and one that sleeps six, for a total rental possibility of 10 people.

  • This was one of the most beautiful and relaxing places I've ever stayed in. The setting is gorgeous and the architecture of the treehouse is wonderfully modern. I was a little nervous about the outdoor shower, but it was delightful. I can't recommend this treehouse enough.

  • Best treehouse ever!! Beautiful scenery and really peaceful! Apple trees, redwoods, deer, and turkeys everywhere! There was a small kitchenette out on the front deck and we were able to make our coffee and breakfast there. Fred was really chill and super accommodating with all of our requests. We were able to bring our pup with us and she got to play with Fred's pup too! Water had to be turned off unexpectedly for half a day while we were there but Fred gave us a refund back for the day. Fred was the perfect host and made sure we had everything we needed. A must stay for anyone visiting Sebastopol or near there! Thanks Fred!

  • Fred was fantastic! Super nice and very personable. The treehouse is exactly what I expected! :) very pleased with our trip! Fred allowed me to leave my dog without a leash the whole weekend and it was AMAZING! He had so much fun roaming around the trees with us. We found a few little trails to walk, we made sure that we weren't crossing any boundary lines first. We brought our own little charcoal grill and grilled some steaks, it was lovely! Eating on the deck was great! I am definitely going to come back.. loved it so much, I'm already planning my next trip out next year!
Thanks again Fred - you rock!

  • We had an incredible stay here and Fred was excelllent host. this place is very unique, secluded, quiet, and comfortable. I think most often used for long weekends, but we stayed for a week and was plenty comfortable. the property is beautiful, with redwood groves surrounding the house. we got lots of rest and sleep. and sebastapol is easy quick drive, with great restaurants, wine tasting, brewery, distillery, shops etc., then can escape back to this place. we want to go back, and would highly recommend this to anyone Fred provides nice welcoming touch, with some snacks to start off with, and was very personable and professional.

  • Wow! What a great place. Fred has done a fabulous job with his treehouse. My wife and I spent a 3-day weekend here for our 5th wedding anniversary, and this was just the spot.

The treehouse itself was VERY well done and very comfortable. The front deck has a great view over orchards into redwood groves, and the side windows look right into the redwoods. As advertised, it feels very private and secluded, and we were able to walk around the property and enjoy the redwood groves, orchards, ponds and streams, it really felt like our own private ranch. There are other rental properties on the ranch, plus the owner's house, but all were well separated and it never felt like you were intruding on anyone else's privacy as you walked around.

The towns of Occidental, Sebastapol and Freestone are all close by, 10 -1 15 min drive. All have great restaurants, and all the people were super-friendly. Food highlights were: Bisto Des Copains in Occidental, Howard Station Cafe in Occidental, and of course Wildflour Bakery in Freestone.

Cant begin to say how great our experience was. Will definitely be back to Fred's treehouse again!

  • This property and the treehouse is amazing! We had withdrawals when we got back to the city! Can't wait to return! Great weekend getaway!

  • Frederick is the consummate host. We knew from the moment we arrived and he gave us the lay of the land that we were in for a special weekend.

The property is expertly maintained, and it's immediately apparent that Fredrick knows every apple tree, redwood, deer, and turkey intimately.

The treehouse is a marvel. It's gorgeously designed and constructed, nested high on the edge of a redwood grove, overlooking a young apple orchard. We loved doing yoga on the porch in the morning in dappled canopy light, wandering the property and having picnics overlooking rolling vineyards and orchards, and cooking all our meals in the cozy outdoor kitchenette. The only time we felt compelled to leave the property was to get some salmon to cook for dinner in the cute nearby towns.

We can't say enough good things about our experience, and we can't wait to come back for another visit. Thanks, Fredrick!

  • 5 Star Ranking! Private, restful, inviting, cozy fireplace, great comfy bed, all items we needed for a getaway experience.Wonderfully hosted (even though Fred was not onsite, you couldn't tell and we were in need of nothing). He was so well organized, thoughtful, prepared, and inviting. Can't say enough about the full experience. Must do sometime in your life! This one is worth the $$.

  • We had an epic weekend getaway at the treehouse! The perfect combination of cozy and rustic—but also quite nicely done—this place is quiet, serene, and downright beautiful. Highlights: Falling asleep on the hammock in the late afternoon while reading, waking up in the big comfy bed surrounded by redwoods, lying by the fire at night, a quick trip to nearby Wild Flour Bakery for the best scone I've ever had in my life. After this weekend, my boyfriend and I decided we are definitely moving to the country as soon as possible. I can't say enough good things about this place. DO IT.

  • Fred's treehouse is one of those gems that you almost want to keep for yourself.
More than a treehouse it feels like a luxury cottage perched up in the trees. Falling asleep with the stove fire and waking up to the redwoods and birds singing was absolutely priceless!
And then to add on to the magical experience there's a hammock looking up to the trees and an outdoor shower and the apple orchard just outside the woods...
When interacting with Fred and then discovering the place I realized his background in the hospitality and travel industries, which obviously explain every little detail that made us feel comfortable and taken cared of.
Fred has become one of my very favorite hosts of all times.
