About this listing
Nice house very close to campus, in a lovely family-friendly neighborhood. 3-BR, 2 1/2 baths, with full kitchen, living room, breakfast nook, three-season room, front/back yards, off-street parking. Great base for great memories.
This 1930s bungalow is a comfortable home in the lovely Harter Heights neighborhood, directly to the south of the University of Notre Dame. It has ample common spaces - living room, dining room, breakfast nook - and three bedrooms along with 2 1/2 bathrooms, which is one bathroom more than you usually find in houses of this age and location. Nice level yard, plenty of on- and off-street parking.
Two night minimum stay.
Full run of house.
The historic Harter Heights neighborhood is a much-desired, popular residential area for ND faculty and South Bend celebrities like Digger Phelps and newsanchor Terry McFadden.
Easy walk to campus, Eddy Street, and to downtown via the lovely East Bank Trail. Plenty of parking on- and off-street.
We were happy with our stay at this house. Before our arrival, Patrick was very responsive to our emails, answering our concerns and even accommodating a special request. The house is on a quiet, tree-lined residential street with ample parking. It's just a short walk to the Notre Dame campus, or the restaurants and entertainment venues at Eddy Street Commons.
The back yard was a private, well-maintained area with a gas grill and picnic table. Although we didn't use the grill, we did enjoy a couple of meals at the picnic table. The gardens along the perimeter made it a very pleasant area.
The spacious common areas gave us the ability to have another family over for hors-d'oeuvres before we all went out to dinner together. The seating in the living room was minimal, but we simply brought chairs from the dining room.
The house was clean and comfortable, and the pictures give a pretty good representation of the furnishings. There is a flat-screen TV with cable in the living room, and the Wi-Fi worked well.
The host made us feel welcome by being in good contact before and during the trip and leaving us thorough instructions. The listing was a bit deceiving, as most of the furniture is gone or replaced by very old furniture and the less flattering rooms are not pictured. Overall, it was all that we needed and the hospitality was worth it, as well as the location. It is as close to campus as you can get! We were able to fit three cars in the alley parking, which was safe, and we grilled out in the backyard without being bothered or bothering anyone!
Thanks for this review. The furniture in the house is the exact same pictured in the current pictures, except one (white) couch is no longer on the property. We will be replacing that couch with a fold-down futon in the coming week. Otherwise, furnishings are accurately pictured on the site.
