About This Listing
The Grillo Iole accommodation, adjoining the farm, is housed in a historic seventeenth century country manor house, situated in a gentle and serene landscape with a series of villages, hamlets and farms surrounded by vineyards.
Here is a marvellous nook where to relax, and from which to investigate intriguing Fruili.. lush country.. wine.. and a plethora of history… Romans… Lombards.. the “Patriarchy”.. and past sobering wars.
We highly recommend Grillo Iole for its home comforts, its location at a corner of a working winery, in a popular wine growing area just east of historic Civedale del Fruili. And Anna is a great hostess. It is a lovely area, lush vineyards on the flat and lower slopes, and forested hills east and north, rising to over 600m at Castelmonte. Marvellous for cycling or running or walking. The accommodation is excellent, on the first floor, views east to vineyards and forested ridges. Two bedrooms. Plenty of space. There is an outside table on a small terrace by west doorway entrance. And Anna is supported by a sweet dog improbably called Luna! Worthwhile sights to visit include the towns of Civedale just NW and the larger Udine west. South lie the sobering war cemetery at Redipuglia and an extraordinary cathedral at Aquilieia. And Trieste is not far SE.
