My friend and I stayed at Kiteloft for 6 days and had a wonderful time in Tulum. The apartment provides ample sleeping room for 3 or 4 people, and the AC is nice to have. Mario, who works with Jana, met me at the apartment when I arrived and was always friendly and available over WhatsApp or in person to help with anything we needed during the week. He provided two bicycles for rent, a nice convenience. The apartment has space outside to hand wash and hang laundry/swimsuits, and a porch with a table, which I enjoyed.
The apartment is right in the thick of the Tulum Pueblo tourist amenities, and about a 30-minute bicycle ride to the beaches. It's across the street from a wonderful coffee shop with wifi and a great mojito place where you'll find all the evening relaxation you need. The restaurants in the area are very much geared toward tourists (as most things in Tulum seem to be), with a good range of options including a lot of Italian. Because it's so close to these businesses, at night you'll hear music from nearby restaurants and maybe some late-night revelers. The ADO bus station is about 5 blocks away for trips to Chichen Itza, etc, and taxis to the Zona Archeologica and elsewhere are always available in the area. All-in-all, very convenient, particularly for folks on a budget to share.
The Kiteloft in Tulum was a perfect fit for myself and two others traveling with me. It is set right in the heart of downtown Tulum, above a quaint little cafe/restaurant. Hearing the live music being played from the restaurant during the evenings is an added bonus! Jana was a great host and was willing to help out at any point of our stay - giving tips of where to go, etc. Her communication with me before arriving and during the trip was very helpful and it made me very comfortable knowing if I needed anything she was only a text message away.
The only downfall I wasn't prepared for was the staircase leading up to the apartment. It is a small, iron, winding staircase that made it a little difficult to get our luggage up to the room. Other then that, the apartment worked out just great and I was very happy with my stay at the Kiteloft. Thumbs up!!
The place was excellent! Very spacious. It is located in a very cool part of town. The best part is that you can hear some great live music at night that basically plays at your balcony. Jana and David were very nice and helpful, giving us tips on where to go. I highly recommend this place. And also if you feel like having the best Mojitos you've ever tasted, head across the street over to Bateys! You will not be disappointed.
To get around I recommend renting a car (very cheap). It will make your stay a lot easier. That way you can go around and check out some of the cool Cenotes that surround the area, I recommend Dos Ojos. And if you get a chance, check out the ocean at night... they have glowing jellyfish!
Ps. watch out for the mosquitos at night.
The place is located just off the main road and is accessible to all the shops, bars, etc. The unit is located on the second floor and access is by way of a very narrow metal staircase that winds around. If you have large luggage, it would be difficult to bring it up to the unit. The unit is more of a studio with a makeshift loft with hostel-type feel. It was quite cold at night during our stay even with the a/c off, so it would have been nice to have blankets/sheets. Jana was otherwise a good host. She was responsive and proactive in regards to our arrival and departure.
Great place overall! Good location and friendly bistro that is part of the same building. I didn't get to meet Jana, but didn't need to as she made other arrangements and it worked out fine. Good secured place and A/C works well. I would stay again if I come to Tulum.
The Kiteloft was a great place to stay in Tulum. The location can't be beat. It's unique and almost hidden, like a secret treehouse. The patio is lovely. We would stay again. Jana was also very responsive.
