This is such a cute space! Kathryn is really accommodating and it's in a perfect location. There are cute hens that run around during the day. The bed was very comfortable, nice shower. I didn't have the breakfast this time, however there is a beautiful garden and I bet it's fantastic.

Kathryn was a helpful and accommodating host. The two rooms I rented were very clean and felt very restful after our busy days out and about. She provided all the information we needed for a most comfortable stay. The area is quiet yet not distant from eating places and the main roads. I would recommend this spot for anyone visiting the Ojai area. Her yoga studio was also very inviting, though I didn't have time for a private lesson this time. Her partner Tony was very pleasant and welcoming as well, and we felt very much at ease.

We just returned from a fantastic trip to Ojai and loved our stay at Brown Speckled Egg Farm! Unfortunately we never got to meet Kathryn but her partner Tony was fantastic. He spent time with my daughters showing them the chickens and how to pet them. In fact they hardly wanted to go to town! The beds were comfortable and the whole place had a peaceful vibe. We had a great time!

The host made me feel very welcome. The bedroom was clean and bright. Beautiful windows with a gorgeous view of trees. So quiet and lovely. The bed was comfortable. Cute chickens in the front yard greeted me as I drove up their long driveway. Very short drive from their place to the center of Ojai, and super close to a fantastic place to eat for breakfast: Eggs 'n' Potatoes on Maricopa Hwy. The only negative was that the bathroom hadn't been cleaned since the previous guests stayed there. The sink and shower were a little dirty. And the toilet hadn't been flushed. It was actually visually clogged with excrement from the previous guests. I had to run and find the host before it overflowed when I tried to flush it. Not a good start to the stay, but the host apologized. If the host would have just spent five minutes cleaning the bathroom before my arrival, it would have made a world of difference to me. Overall, I think it was just an oversight. I think they just forgot to clean up the bathroom. I would still recommend staying there. The host seemed like a lovely person. Super friendly and quiet.

Response from Kathryn:
Gigi, so terribly sorry about the bathroom. I was out of town and imposed on my partner to host and it is really not his gig! Profuse apologies and please be aware that the usual standard at the Brown Speckled Egg Farm includes a spotless and freshly cleaned bathroom!

Kathryn was incredibly helpful and kind, as was her partner Tony. The property is very sweet and well located, next to a great hiking trail and super cafe called The Farmer and the Cook (a pleasant walk or short drive), and very near the "center of town". We enjoyed the quiet, gorgeous chickens and inspiring garden!

Staying at the Brown Speckled Egg Farm was just the retreat I had hoped - and in fact better. The home is comfortable and the hostess personable and welcoming. The property is located just three miles from the center of Ojai and across the street from trailheads. The ranch style house is setback off the road so it is private. My room was clean comfortable and quiet . The yoga studio was an added bonus as was shaded table in the yard where I ate my breakfast. A wonderful comfortable clean warm retreat.
