2 ADULTS ONLY, ABSOLUTELY NO CHILDREN/SMOKING/PARTIES/PETS. (my wife is extremely allergic to pet dander). Step Back In Time! The Historic Hershey Cabin has undergone a major remodel while maintaining its "wonderful charm". It is warm and cozy and gives you the feel of an old time Lake Arrowhead cabin. We designed the cabin as a beautiful, immaculate place to spend an Anniversary, Honeymoon, Romantic Get-Away, or just as a place to relax, with the comfort of brand new central A/C and heating.

The space
Originally owned as a hunting cabin by members of the Hershey (chocolate) family, it is nestled on the lush side of Lake Arrowhead, in historic Arrowhead Villas. It is situated about 1 mile south of Lake Arrowhead Village at an elevation of 5,500 feet. The Hershey Cabin, is a very inviting, quiet, immaculate, and comfortable mountain cabin. If the Hershey Cabin is booked, try our exquisite Burnt Mill Canyon Cottage (do an internet search).

Our intent is to keep the cabin in top notch shape - Therefor it must be left in a neat and clean condition upon checkout. We charge extra for excessive cleanup.

Totally renovated several years ago, the cabin has been tastefully decorated to make it the perfect retreat for a private getaway. Every piece of furniture and art has been hand selected by the owners who have a passion for incorporating comfort and elegance in home decor. It is furnished with both antiques and modern furnishings, blended together, to provide the creature comforts of modern day while maintaining the old-fashioned warmth and charm of a vintage Lake Arrowhead cabin.

The Hershey Cabin has rustic knotty pine and redwood walls and ceiling, beautifully hand-crafted rock fireplace, massive pine mantel and a porcelain/slate tile floors with traditional wool rugs. It has dual pane windows and fully insulated walls and ceilings. Above the fireplace is a new Samsung (2020) 4K, smart TV with the super easy to use Fire TV Cube. We provide high speed internet/Wi-Fi and Netflix, Amazon Prime, PBS, Acorn etc. The living room is a perfect place to snuggle up by the fire and read or watch a movie.

The new bathroom has lots of tile, granite, and a frameless glass shower. The kitchen has been completely remodeled with gorgeous granite counter tops, new cupboards, and stainless-steel appliances. The kitchen is fully equipped with all of the amenities of home. We have a Keurig coffee maker and we provide 4 regular and 2 decaf pods.

The bedroom has knotty pine walls and ceiling, and the view out the windows makes you feel as if you are nestled in a tree house. The bed has a memory foam mattress along with beautiful cozy bedding. Outside the bedroom is a new wrap-around deck, with bistro tables and chairs where you can enjoy a glass of wine or a meal!

We have easy paved parking along with concrete steps and a wrought iron banister up to the front door. The cabin is situated on a very quiet road and is easy to find at night, as it has a lighted address. It is surrounded by beautiful firs, pines, maples, and cedar trees, along with a nicely landscaped yard. The siding of the cabin is classic craftsman style shake.

Lake Arrowhead is a private lake, and you can't fish or swim in the lake. You can fish and swim in nearby Lake Gregory or in Big Bear Lake.

We provide an easy to use binder at the cabin, with our 12 favorite walks/short hikes in Lake Arrowhead and the surrounding areas. The binder provides maps, descriptions, mileage, estimated time, etc. For the more adventurous hikers, we provide books/maps describing hikes in the San Bernardino Forest.

The Lake Arrowhead area is a little hidden gem, with a quaint village, dinner theater (Tudor House), movie theater, wonderful local restaurants, and various shopping opportunities. If you are looking for a romantic get-away, or just a place to relax and have fun, this is just the place. Lake Arrowhead celebrates all four seasons - warm summer days, fall colors, snow in the winter, and a beautiful spring.

My wife and I look forward to having you as our guests at the Hershey Cabin!

Where you’ll be

Lake Arrowhead, California, United States

Arrowhead Villas (the small historic area where our cabin is located) was originally founded by the infamous mobster “Bugsy Siegel”, of Las Vegas fame. Bugsy Siegel came up with the idea of opening his exclusive members-only resort in the late 1920’s, after realizing that Lake Arrowhead was quickly becoming the new playground for the Hollywood elite. The property, which cost whopping $1.3 million to construct, opened on July 4, 1929. At the time, the resort was comprised of three individual buildings consisting of a private gambling club, a brothel, a speakeasy, luxury guest quarters, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis courts, a barbershop, a private gas station, horse stables, and a highly-coveted supply of artesian well water – which was used in the making of moonshine.
The resort’s former Clubhouse, which housed the property’s private gambling club and speakeasy, is now known as “The Tudor House”. At the time that Bugsy managed the property there was a secret underground tunnel which connected the Clubhouse to the Bracken Fern Manor (similar “Tudor” style structure across the street), and was used to allow male guests to travel to the brothel undetected.
The Tudor House is now a wonderful dinner theater/ supper club/ concert hall etc. The Tudor House is located at 800 Arrowhead Villas Road, about a half mile from our cabin.

About us: My wife and I were married over 40 years ago. We love going on vacations, especially to the mountains - both of our grandparents owned cabins in Big Bear and Crestline. We recently retired, my wife was an elementary school teacher (she now does interior redesign). I was an accounting manager (I do property management on the side). We love the outdoors - hiking, kayaking, biking etc. Why did we buy 2 cabins in Lake Arrowhead? We were visiting Lake Arrowhead Village getting an ice tea at MacDonald's, when our son spotted an add for a one bedroom cabin at a local realtors. We weren't even looking for a cabin - but after checking out over 50 cabins we chose the "Hershey Cabin", our first cabin, because we liked the old cabin feel, the quiet location, and the lush trees on the property. The property, which was originally owned by members of the Hershey (chocolate) Family as a simple hunting cabin, was in major need of repair. My wife and I spent the summer and fall remodeling and renovating the cabin from the ground up. We saved the redwood and knotty pine interiors which give the it the classic 'cabin' feel. A year later we decided to buy our second cabin, the "Burnt Mill Canyon Cottage". We purchased it because of its gorgeous location as well as its beautiful design. After 3 months of repairs and upgrades, we had it up and running!
