About this listing
Cabina Blanca - tucked away at the top of a gated community with lovely views of the Pacific ocean, the beach a short walk and the towns of Tamarindo and Flamingo only 25 min. away. Roomy, queen bed, private patio.
This space is a completely self contained guest house, about 15 feet away from the main house. With an abundance of natural light, this unique oasis is cozy and inviting with high ceilings.
Although not air conditioned, the cabina enjoys an elevated position on the site and is orientated to take advantage of breezes. In the room, there are ceiling and pedestal fans.
Within the suite is a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. There is queen sized bed and a small table and chairs. The bathroom includes a full sized shower.
Guests will have access to the sitting space in front of the cabina and the chairs and hammock in the private tower patio upstairs.
Guests will also have use of the private pool, lounge chairs and hammock next door.
Wireless Internet is available in the cabina, your private patio and the pool area. For long term stay, we can make arrangements for use of the washer and dryer.
Interaction with Guests
We live in the main house next door, but you may remain as private as you wish. We are always happy to talk with guests about our experiences and theirs, as well as gladly give information about the area and it's amenities, or even help coordinate activities and tours.
We feel very safe in our gated community, tucked away from the "hustle and bustle" of some of the nearby towns, but still close enough to enjoy all the area has to offer.
This relaxing atmosphere is great for bird watching and animal visitors, walks or just enjoying the pool.
We are central to enjoy all the coast has to offer with 13+ beaches within less than one hour drive. Matapolo is the closest town to us. It is a 5 minute drive away and has a couple of restaurants and grocery stores. Tamarindo is 25 mins south of us and Flamingo is 25 mins north. Both are an easy drive for taking in the restaurants, shops and services.
Being a bit away from it all a vehicle is a must. A 4x4 would allow you to explore even further, but for those quick 10-minute runs into town, a car works just fine.
Other Things to Note
This is a pure Costa Rica experience - not all polish and shine, but comfortable and inviting and the stuff that memories are made of.
For the comfort of future travellers, there is no smoking permitted in the space itself. General cleanliness will reduce the appearance of "un-welcome" guests.
Small table and chairs, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and fridge make refreshements easy to prepare
The cabina is very close to Playa Conchal and reasonably close to Tamarindo (we didn't visit anywhere else so can't comment on other locations). The cabina is nice and matches the pictures, however we found it vey hot due to the lack of air conditioning. This improved somewhat when there was a breeze but the fans need to be on at all times. The location is great for visiting a number of different beaches and is nice and secluded. The cabina is down a dirt track, you will need a vehicle with reasonable ground clearance due to a number of rough areas.
The cabina was lovely! The rooftop patio/hammock was awesome and the view was amazing. The house is an easy walk to what was essentially our own gorgeous, private beach. Tim and Kim were very helpful and welcoming while also maintaining our privacy. We had a great time and just wish we could have stayed longer!!
Kim & Tim are very friendly hosts. We had some trouble arriving and Tim was great at giving us directions over the phone.
As soon as we arrived, he gave us a welcome tour (both in English and Spanish) showing us the amenities and making us feel comfortable.
Late at night, we needed something for a stomachache and they were nice enough to get us some Tums and Peptobismol.
There's a nice restaurant just in front of the apartment at a good price.
The only negative experience came when we had to check out. We were supposed to leave at 11am but got delayed and the man in charge of cleaning came and did not knock on the door but hit it strongly yelling Check out time. I told him we were almost leaving but he kept making gestures kicking us out.
I understand there were new guests arriving shortly but does not justify the way we were treated during check out.
Kim & Tim were great again. Not a pleasant check out experience and that may be enough for us not to book here again.
The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
To correct the above note, this reservation was made the same day as check in and was for 1 night. We notified the guest less than 15 minutes after the reservation was made that there were electrical issues that needed addressing and that the space would not be ready in time for them to check in. The only way to provide them with a full refund including Airbnb fees was for us to cancel the reservation. The guests agreed that this was the best solution prior to the cancellation being made.
Kim and Tim are great hosts, the cabin is great place.
We wish them many visitors. So many beaches are so close, both walking and driving distance. The cabin is situated in private, safe setting. We recommend to everyone.
This is the most amazing place that I have ever stayed at!!!The beaches are stunning and so are the rooms and facilities... And don't get me started on the hosts. They are the most friendly and helpful people I have EVER met. Me and my friend were suppose to stay at their place for 2 days and will now stay for 9 days. We got some of our stuff stolen in a city nearby and the hosts helped us out with everything... If I could, I would stay here permanently. This place feels like my second home now!

About the Host, Kim And Tim
We are former Canadians who have escaped the snow! We have given up toboganning in favor of boogie boarding at nearby beaches.
Looking for a change of pace we left Calgary, Alberta in March 2013 and came to Costa Rica with the mindset that everyday is a new adventure! With our love of animals and photography, we have many opportunities to explore the huge variety that Costa Rica has to (website hidden). our Spanish is steadily improving :)
