Cabina Blanca - tucked away at the top of a gated community with lovely views of the Pacific ocean, the beach a short walk and the towns of Tamarindo and Flamingo only 25 min. away. Roomy, queen bed, private patio.
This space is a completely self contained guest house, about 15 feet away from the main house. With an abundance of natural light, this unique oasis is cozy and inviting with high ceilings.
Although not air conditioned, the cabina enjoys an elevated position on the site and is orientated to take advantage of breezes. In the room, there are ceiling and pedestal fans.
Within the suite is a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. There is queen sized bed and a small table and chairs. The bathroom includes a full sized shower.
Guests will have access to the sitting space in front of the cabina and the chairs and hammock in the private tower patio upstairs.
Guests will also have use of the private pool, lounge chairs and hammock next door.
Wireless Internet is available in the cabina, your private patio and the pool area. For long term stay, we can make arrangements for use of the washer and dryer.
Interaction with Guests
We live in the main house next door, but you may remain as private as you wish. We are always happy to talk with guests about our experiences and theirs, as well as gladly give information about the area and it's amenities, or even help coordinate activities and tours.
We feel very safe in our gated community, tucked away from the "hustle and bustle" of some of the nearby towns, but still close enough to enjoy all the area has to offer.
This relaxing atmosphere is great for bird watching and animal visitors, walks or just enjoying the pool.
We are central to enjoy all the coast has to offer with 13+ beaches within less than one hour drive. Matapolo is the closest town to us. It is a 5 minute drive away and has a couple of restaurants and grocery stores. Tamarindo is 25 mins south of us and Flamingo is 25 mins north. Both are an easy drive for taking in the restaurants, shops and services.
Being a bit away from it all a vehicle is a must. A 4x4 would allow you to explore even further, but for those quick 10-minute runs into town, a car works just fine.
Other Things to Note
This is a pure Costa Rica experience - not all polish and shine, but comfortable and inviting and the stuff that memories are made of.
For the comfort of future travellers, there is no smoking permitted in the space itself. General cleanliness will reduce the appearance of "un-welcome" guests.
Kim and Tim and father Al were gracious hosts. Al was there to greet us and escort us to the Cabina. Later Kim and Tim greeted us and briefed us on the people we might meet going by, the animals that might greet us, including their friendly Coati's.
We had a fantastic time. The beaches are great in the area. Tim was really helpful. Thanks!
Great little private room in between flamingo and tamarind beaches. You will need a 4wd to see the area properly as mentioned.
We stayed in the Cabina Blanca for a full month and had an excellent experience. Tim and Kim are very hospitable and helpful. The home was exactly as described. We especially enjoyed morning swims in the nearby beaches (which are among the most beautiful we have seen throughout all of Costa Rica), afternoon swims in the pool, and relaxing in the hammock on the upstairs terrace of Cabina Blanca. We highly recommend this place. Thank Tim and Kim!
So far I'm batting 100% for finding awesome Airbnb hosts and locations. What an awesome experience in Costa Rica at Tim & Kim's cabina.
As a solo traveler, I thought this little bungalow with the hammock on the top, overlooking amazing scenery - I'm pretty sure you can hear the tides rushing at night time from up there, was perfect. Quiet, peaceful, perfect amount of space to enjoy quiet evenings, especially swinging on the hammock watching the sunset or sunrise. And then there's the infinity pool that's available on the property if you're not into walking or exploring that day. In 3 words: I miss it.
It's a short, quiet, 15min walk to Playa Conchal. Don't make the mistake of not renting a car like I did, DEFINITELY rent a car. If you do, you'll have plenty of more options of beaches to explore that take less time to get there than walking. Not to mention, Cabina Blanca is nestled up in a remote part of Guanacaste. Renting a car would be the most efficient way to travel to and from the airport, in my opinion and experience.
With all that being said, Tim & Kim are awesome hosts! Welcoming, friendly, helpful, informative, gracious, respectful...I could go on. You will not go wrong choosing to stay here if you're looking for a quiet getaway to relax away from the hustle and bustle, with close proximity to some of the most pristine and beautiful beaches in Costa Rica.
Be sure to ask Kim for some of her homemade ice cream!! She sells them at the Farmer's Market on Saturdays in Tamarindo. GO THERE TOO! So much fun :D
Thank you, Tim, Kim & Al!! I would love to return with a rental car next time ;) hehe. THANK YOU x100!!!
What a beautiful house! We had a wonderful stay! Tim was so upbeat and helpful when we arrived! The hammock on the roof was incredible! Well built and cozy plus a comfortable bed!
This was such a relaxing place to stay. It is a short walk to the quiet end of Playa Conchal, a beautiful, scenic place to spend the day. The house has a perfect top deck for sitting (or laying in the hammock), with a great view of the far hills and a light seabreeze to keep you cool. The room was very comfortable and clean. Kim and Tim are super friendly; we had the opportunity to chat with them on a couple of occasions. They even introduced us to the local coati who came by for a few visits. If you want a moderately remote location to sit back and relax, Cabina Blanca is the place. We would absolutely stay here on a return trip!

We are former Canadians who have escaped the snow! We have given up toboganning in favor of boogie boarding at nearby beaches.
Looking for a change of pace we left Calgary, Alberta in March 2013 and came to Costa Rica with the mindset that everyday is a new adventure! With our love of animals and photography, we have many opportunities to explore the huge variety that Costa Rica has to (website hidden). our Spanish is steadily improving :)
