We have a three bedroom, two bath rustic modern home in picturesque Mill Valley, on the border of Golden Gate Recreation Area. Our home is truly a private retreat, with every window looking out into a densely forested gulch. Our living room has cathedral ceilings, open beams, and floor to ceiling windows. You can see no other homes from the deck. At night it is perfectly silent, aside from the sounds of coyotes, owls, and a seasonal creek.
The house sleeps five adults, plus children. The layout:
-- Master bedroom: One king bed and private wooded deck.
-- Guest (or kids) bedroom: Two twin beds and a small private deck.
-- Office (or additional guest room): Pullout couch (queen-sized), plus a desk.
There are dozens of hiking trails within walking distance. Muir Beach, Green Gulch Zen Center are both about a 3 mile hike away.
You would want a rental car if staying here. Our home is about 5 min to downtown Mill Valley, 10 min to the Golden Gate Bridge, 15 min to the Marina/Inner Richmond/Presidio neighborhoods in SF and 25 min to downtown SF.
This house is incredible for anyone looking for a family-friendly spot that's totally unique and secluded. We used it as a girlfriend's get-away and it was perfect. It's literally at the furthest end of a windy road, you feel like you're in a loved cabin in the jungle (a well designed one with lots of windows)--so dreamy. Just a short hike to a ridge overlooking the ocean.
Laura was tops as far as communicating in advance of our stay and left a bottle of (very nice) wine, fresh strawberries and lovely organic bread and eggs. I highly recommend this property and would stay there again.
Very nice peaceful house! Nestled away in the woods - you can hear a stream on the patio. Laura was very responsive and a great host.
Laura's home was a lovely escape from the city. The living room features a wall of floor to ceiling windows that look out onto the Golden Gate National Forest. From the deck you can hear the slow murmur of a stream and the chatty chirps of birds as they flit through the forest. Eating breakfast on the deck and then heading down the road for a hike to Muir Beach was a beautiful way to spend the day.
Laura was quick to reply to my questions and gave a lot of good hike recommendations.
Fantastic hosts, very warm and inviting. We felt honored to share this tranquil space. Highly recommended if you're looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway. The lower patio near the stream is a great place to have a small picnic.
A gem of a place. The location is great. We love to hike and we were able to walk to a wide array of hiking trails with beautiful vistas.
Laura's place is private, secluded and roomy. We had easy access to Mill Valley and the surrounding area.
Laura made us very comfortable and was very quick to to respond to any questions.
Thank you, Laura.
We were blown away by this beautiful weekend. The home is perfectly situated at the end of the lane as it juts into the forest. We never imagined there was even a world outside of the fireplace, vaulted ceilings and forested balcony. Our 3 year old was heartbroken to leave. steps down to a stream, toys galore and books for miles. Laura and Roger were wonderful, leaving us maps to the nearby trails (where we enjoyed a few long, winding hikes through the fog down into muir woods), provisions for cooking and a warm and inviting home. We are truly excited to return..
My boyfriend, parents and I had an exceptional stay at Laura and Roger's place. Not only was Laura a dream to deal with, but the tree top oasis was such a lovely respite from our daily sightseeing adventures in the Bay Area. The bedrooms were very comfortable, the kitchen was fully equipped and the common areas were cozy and functional. The views were also a treat. We enjoyed a hike along the Miwok trail from the house to Tennessee Valley beach. My parents can't stop talking about their first visit to the Bay Area and this lovely home had a lot to do with their positive experience. Thank you Laura and Roger!
