My house is on a quiet tree lined street only 1 block from the subway. Your room comfortably sleeps 3. I'll supply you with fresh towels and sheets. Your bathroom is large and you can take a relaxing bath as well as a shower.
Your bedroom is 12X12 or 144 sq. feet. It has 2 windows with shutters that look over my backyard. You have a full and twin bed. You get plenty of daylight and can see the sunset from your room. You have plenty of drawer space. You have a closet to hang things up and stow your bags in.I refinished the hardwood floors 2 years ago.
You'll be able to use the living room, my kitchen and grill and backyard during the warmer weather.
Interaction with Guests
I'm home pretty often so we should bump into each other a lot. I'll try and answer all your questions and help you any way I can.
My neighborhood is pretty quiet. I'm a 10 minute walk from beautiful Sunset park. From there you can see the whole harbor, statue of Liberty, Manhattan and New Jersey. There's a Bowling Alley at the top of my block where you can have fun bowling and drinking an adult beverage or two. We have pizza, dinners, Chinese and Spanish restaurants all within a few blocks. If you get hungry late at night, there's always some place open to eat.
I live 1 block from the express trains. The N,D and local R train will get you around. It's 2 stops to Manhattan. Up my block on 5th Ave is the B 63 bus that goes from the Verrazano Bridge at the Narrows to Downtown Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Other Things to Note
This is the house I grew up in. I've lived here since 1960. She was built in 1903. I've seen how my home and neighborhood have changed over that time. I'm inviting you to share some time in my home. I'm easygoing and you'll laugh with me.
Please don't have party's here and No Smoking inside the house.
I very much enjoyed my stay with Skip and Lisa. Skip made me feel very welcome in his house, was very helpful and flexible with everything and even lent me his bike, which made me very happy. When staying with Skip, you are not in a perfect hotel, but in an old house with many stories. That - to me - is so much nicer.
Maybe next year we can do the 5 boroughs biketour with the three of us (-:
Skip and Lisa, thank you
So welcoming and such fun.... If you have a free evening, go to the local bowling alley for a pitcher with Skip. Room was clean, spacious, nice and cozy.... VERY close to the train --> Literally one block + four doors down....
The time at Skip's was absolutely awesome. From the first minute we entered the door he welcomed us as if we were home. And thats how we felt during the whole stay.
The house is a lovely old house in Brooklyn. If you expect accommodation like in a hotel - don't go there. This is a home with soul and heart.
The room is not super big but its hosts 3 people just comfortably enough. There is a bathroom right next to the room which you have almost to yourself as Skip usually uses the downstairs bathroom. Towels, maps etc are provided. And if something you require is missing, don't hesitate to ask Skip. He was always happy to assist us with everything.
The Location is a perfect base for your New York holiday. The house is just 50 meters from subway station with 3 trains (2 express) to Manhattan. So you are in South Manhattan within 15 min. Train journey from JFK Airport was easy and took about 50 min (incl. Airport air train).
Skip himself is just an amazing host. He is a pool of information and will help you with anything you need at any time. He took us one day to a mets baseball game - my personal NY highlight :) Also his new neighbor Lisa is great. Totally different from Skip - the only thing they agree on is disagreeing :) But they make a funny pair you always can have an interesting conversation with them. And between the two of them they will be able to show you the "true" NY if you are looking for more than just doing all the "normal" touristy things.
I will definitely come back here...
We had a great stay at Skippy's place. The room was exactly as described with fresh linens and towels. The bathroom was clean and then neighborhood was safe and quiet. The location was perfect, so close to the metro and a quick ride to Manhattan. Skippy was great host and gave us wonderful recommendations on where to go out. I would definitely recommend to stay there!
房間真的很大，而且就在地鐵站附近。交通方便，社區安全且安靜。房東Skip是個友善、健談而且樂於助人的人。我和同行友人在這度過美好的紐約之行。非常推薦Skip的房間。The room is really big in NYC. Subway station is only one block away. The house is located in a quiet and secure community. Skip is a super friendly and super considerate homestay host. I and my friend had a very joyful stay there.
We spent a week at Skip's, and we really enjoyed our time. Skip is a very nice personn, funny and friendly. He welcomed us warmly and gave us some good advices about what to do in NY, great places to go out, find LPs and to eat. Even if we were out the most part of the day (and the night ^^), we spent great times speaking with Skip about our travel, sport and a few things.
More, the room is cosy, clean and spacious. Skip's house is well situated in Brooklyn, next to the subway and the beautiful view of Sunset Park. And there is an amazing bagel shop at the corner !!
More than a host, Skip is becoming a friend and we will visit him for sure for our next NY trip.
My best friend and I absolutely loved staying with Skippy and his super friendly cats, Cleopatra and Caesar! The room and bathroom were tidy and secure, and there were always fresh towels. Skippy welcomed us into his home with open arms, kindness, abundant resources, and inspiration. We regret not staying longer as it was an impromptu trip, but next time, we will definitely stay with Skippy, our new NY friend!
I'm an easy going, fun loving guy who likes to laugh. I've lived in Brooklyn all my life. This is the home I grew up in. Whether it's helping a friend move cross country, taking a dip in the ocean on New Years Day, going skydiving or eating a hot dog, I like to try fun things.
