Interaction with Guests
I'm home pretty often so we should bump into each other a lot. I'll try and answer all your questions and help you any way I can.
My neighborhood is pretty quiet. I'm a 10 minute walk from beautiful Sunset park. From there you can see the whole harbor, statue of Liberty, Manhattan and New Jersey. There's a Bowling Alley at the top of my block where you can have fun bowling and drinking an adult beverage or two. We have pizza, dinners, Chinese and Spanish restaurants all within a few blocks. If you get hungry late at night, there's always some place open to eat.
I live 1 block from the express trains. The N,D and local R train will get you around. It's 2 stops to Manhattan. Up my block on 5th Ave is the B 63 bus that goes from the Verrazano Bridge at the Narrows to Downtown Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Other Things to Note
This is the house I grew up in. I've lived here since 1960. She was built in 1903. I've seen how my home and neighborhood have changed over that time. I'm inviting you to share some time in my home. I'm easygoing and you'll laugh with me.
Please don't have party's here and No Smoking inside the house.
Our stay with Skip was perfect; the night we arrived, he waited for us though it was very late in the night. He then offered us the best service we could ask for: his knowledge of NYC is one of the best resources for newcomers, and his advice was always greatly appreciated. My family and I enjoyed conversations after tiring days, and sharing different stories and experiences. It was a great way to get to know our host better.
About the location and the apartment: even though it was our first time there, we loved staying in Brooklyn, especially because Skip's place is literally 5 minutes aways from a useful metro station, and about a 15 minute ride from Manhattan. The neighborhood offers lots of great places to eat, is safe and it also is more "authentic" than most places you could find in Manhattan. The view from Sunset Park, which is 2 blocks aways, is breathtaking at night and we enjoyed some improvised picnics there. The room is just as described in the add: big enough and well furnished, with clean linens and towels and an AC system which is great during the hot months of summer!
We will definitely come back if we have the opportunity one day, and we highly recommend staying with Skip for your trip to this amazing city!
Skip was a brilliant host! Helped us in planning our tour of NYC. His place is very conveniently located, close to the subway (the R on 36th takes you right into Manhattan). His room was nice, the three of us could sleep well after a tiring day. He has two lovely cats which were no bother at all. Would highly recommend skip!
I really enjoyed my stay with Skip and Lisa. Skip made me feel very welcome in his house. When staying with Skip, even it is an old house, but the house environment is great.
The room was exactly as described with fresh linens and towels. The bathroom was clean. The location was perfect, so close to the metro. Skippy was great host and gave us wonderful recommendations on where to go out. I would definitely recommend to stay there!
I love his cats, too.
Skip and Lisa, thank you
