Our 'adopted' son and girlfriend live in the house and can assist with recommendations around town. Their well-behaved dog, a chocolate lab, Chloe, is happy to greet our two and four footed guests.
We are a short ride (10-12 minutes) to town, which allows easy access to restaurants, shops and the park.
No public transit.... You're in the mountains!! Our property is on the main road into town, so access is easy. We have a rural property with a gravel driveway - 4 wheel drive is not required, but watch for bumps in the road.

This place is awesome! Gary and Janea are beautiful people who also keep the property beautiful. They're so kind and made us feel at home. It was like staying with friends! It was a great getaway, and just a quick scenic drive into town. The room also has a great view and a nice patio with seating. The bed is out of this world comfy and the shower is also very cool. Overall everything went perfectly. We will be back!! Strongly recommended!!
We truly felt like we landed on a gold mine staying here at the private luxury mountain suite hosted by Tanya, Douglas, Jenea & Gary. They not only a wonderful home with all the accommodations you would need, but to be nestled in the surrounding mountains made for a completely relaxing and picturesque weekend! I would certainly come back in a heartbeat and recommend this place to any friends/family!
What a gem! Where do I even begin??
My husband and I stayed at the property as part of a Colorado road trip adventure. First of all, the suite is absolutely gorgeous. The room is huge, there is tons of closet space and shelving to unpack, the bathroom has dual shower heads, and the floors throughout the suite are heated. The bed is large, incredibly comfortable, and has high quality warm bedding - which was perfect for our winter stay. There are fluffy towels and plenty of soap, shampoo, etc.
When we arrived at the home it was clean and inviting. Gary and Janea had shoveled the driveway to make sure that we could access the house without trouble. We had the opportunity to meet them both during our stay, but we had the home to ourselves for the most part as they were renovating another property in town. They were incredibly friendly and helpful during our stay, and recommended places to eat and rent our snowshoes. We felt very much at home.
During our stay the home ran out of gas. There was also a winter storm (of course!). Gary hurried to the house after work and made multiple trips back and forth in the snow storm to get the gas hooked up. He brought extra space heaters and really went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable and that the issue was resolved. The property owners (Tanya and Doug) also reached out at this time to make sure we were not inconvenienced by the gas outage. You really are in good hands here.
We absolutely loved our stay. The location is about ten minutes from town. We didn't mind the short drive, as the area is pretty and it's a great value compared to what lodging costs in the main areas of Estes Park.
The no internet/cell reception was a welcome reprieve. There is Dish TV in the living room, right next to a cozy fireplace.
If you're looking for a mountain getaway that's different from your typical tourist lodge or pricey cabin, this is the way to go.
We were excited to stay here due to the reviews that we read but the reviews don't say how amazing the room is! We absolutely loved everything about it. The view from the window and the room itself were great. We liked being a little bit away from the town but not too far and even though there was no wi-fi we were totally okay with that since we were there to have a trip without our phones. If we ever go back to Estes Park, which is a huge possibility, we would definitely stay again in a heartbeat! We seriously can't rave enough about our stay. :)
My stay was wonderful - the house and luxury private suite exceeded my expectations and my on-site host, Gary, was very kind and helpful. Tanya was incredibly accommodating and quick to respond to my 24-hour in advance request for a room.
I will definitely stay again -- this is the best place, at the best price, and only 10 miles from the entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park!
This home was absolutely beautiful, and just as described. We had the house to ourselves for our stay.
The room was beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and the property was fun to explore for an informal hike.
We had a wonderful time in RKMN, we feel like home the minutes we walked in the house so cozy, warm, clean, spacious, and with the 35acres land right behind you can do so much in that place. We snowshoe and explore their property, we could say enough about this place. We sleep like a baby! The host Gary&Janae very sweet, knowledge about the area is a plus, and come to find out they both Wedding Photographer so if you ever need the place to stay for your event I'm highly recommended. Tanya&Douglas your place is a GREAT location and your adopt son is awesome host. BTW thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us,we come back again.
Douglas & I spent 6 years in Colorado, returning to Chicago to be near family. We both work in the IT industry, and get out to Colorado every chance we get. Our heart will always be in the Rocky Mountains! We purchased our dream property in 2002. Friends and family couldn't believe we had 'left the city.' We constructed a large addition in 2006, including the lovely, large master bedroom suite.
When we lived in Colorado our 'adopted' teenage son, Gary, visited us every year. His love of the Rockies matches ours, and in 2013 he moved back to Colorado. He and his girlfriend, Janea, and their lovely lab Chloe now live there, taking advantage of the star gazing, photography, hiking and peace of the mountains.
