The Space

Casa de Caribe is perfect for those looking to explore Vieques and all of her wonders without spending a fortune. Perched on a hillside in the quiet, safe, local neighborhood of Santa Maria this two bedroom, with an ocean view, is stocked with all the amenities needed to enjoy your vacation to paradise including beach chairs, cooler, beach towels, hammock, and even sand toys for the kids. Decorated with a Caribbean flair, you will know you are in the islands as soon as you enter the front door or sit on the front porch enjoying the view.

The one bedroom has a queen size bed with air-conditioning and the other has a full bed with fan. There is also a futon in the living room that can pull out into a full bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need, in case you wish to cook or grill at the house. The front yard offers a table and some space for hanging out enjoying the view while the backyard offers shade provided by a mango tree, an avocado tree, and some lime bushes needed on a Caribbean day to relax in a hammock. This home away from home is located in a perfect spot only being a 15-20 min walk to the more secluded north side beaches(good snorkeling), the historical Spanish fort, and Isabel II, where you will find the town's main plaza, historic lighthouse, restaurants, and shopping.

Or if you would like, hop in your rental car for a mere 5 to 15 min ride to all our other spectacular beaches, world famous bio-bay, Esperanza, or our many other historical sites.

We also offer complimentary pick up service and delivery to the house from the car rental, ferry, or airport with maps and directions. Just let us know how we can help you plan your vacation to paradise !!! Michelle, Juan, Leonardo

  • My friend and I stayed here during "Semana Santa" aka Easter Holy Week so their were fun activities happening around Vieques.

Michelle was a fantastic and accommodating host and Casa Caribe made the whole trip personal and authentic. When we had questions communication was easy and everyone on the island went out of their way to help.

The house itself is great for 2-3 people, has everything you’d need and is tucked away in a remote neighborhood. Should you need groceries or restaurant food, Isabel is an easy 25-30 minute walk. A taxi into Esperanza took about 20 minutes with other restaurant options and is a nice spot to watch the sunset. We did the biobay tour as well when we weren't lounging on some insane remote beach.

I hope to be back! Highly recommended.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Casa de Caribe for 4 nights in March. Michelle is an amazing host who very graciously picked us up from the airport and provided us with great advice about what to do on the island. Take her advice! The house is in the hills south of Isabel II tucked away in a great neighborhood. We were really able to experience the culture of the island.
We recommend renting some sort of transportation during your stay at Casa de Caribe, or find a publico that knows how to get to the house. We ended up renting a scooter is Esperanza (@ Fun Brothers) and we didn't need anything else. You can get anywhere on a scooter. We would definitely stay here again and hope we have the opportunity.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Casa de Caribe! Michelle met with us at the beginning of our trip to hand off the keys, give tips for best beaches and restaurants, etc., and then gave us our space for the rest of our stay. The house was very nice: new kitchen appliances and bed sheets, steady wifi, and was quite clean. Michelle supplied beach chairs, cooler, beach umbrella, etc. Unfortunately, shower water pressure had to be balanced with temperature (hot water = very low pressure) and there were mosquitos that somehow got into the house. Rental car is a must, as the casa is a ~5 min drive from Isabel, but I'd recommend a car no matter where you stay on the island.

  • Staying at Casa de Caribe is the perfect way to enjoy Vieques on a budget and is a great option for travelers seeking an authentic Puerto Rican travel experience.

By staying at Casa de Caribe in Barrio Santa Maria you will see Vieques like a local – an experience that can not be found in a hotel.

Casa de Caribe is located in a residential neighborhood just a quick drive from downtown Isabel Segunda - a rental car is highly recommended to fully explore the island and reach the best beaches.

The locals in Vieques are the friendliest of any Caribbean island and Michelle is the perfect example of this friendliness. She is super helpful and knowledgeable about the island and always available to help if need be.

The island of Vieques is totally laid back, authentic, and down to earth. Casa de Caribe sits in perfect harmony with this island vibe!

  • Great host! We ended up staying at another of Michelle's properties, not at Casa de Caribe, so I cannot rate the space. But Michelle was very helpful and always responded right away when we called her.

  • Hi! My two friends and I really enjoyed our stay at Casa de Caribe.
Very rustic little bungalow in Vieques, with all the amenities we needed for our three day stay. There were beach chairs, a cooler, toys, towels, and snorkeling equipment we rented for the day.
Michelle was extremely helpful with giving us directions and mapping out the island and the beaches.
She is also there for you, if you have any questions,
    Really loved our stay!
    Thanks again Michelle!

  • Adorable little island home out amongst the locals! Great amenities and very helpful host! Enjoy the sounds of roosters, cats, dogs. 10 minute drive to all the drop-dead gorgeous beaches. Definitely eat at the Sol Food truck on the way into Blue Beach, Secret Beach, etc., and kayak in the Bio-bay. Michelle was great, and though we didn't get to meet, she was very hands-on and responsive to phone calls. She provided a cooler, beach towels, and even some breakfast stuff for us. Loved every minute of the island!

  • C'mon! Be a little adventurous!! This lovely little home will surprise you!

Michelle makes sure you are well taken care of. She knows of all the best quiet beach nooks and where to get some amazing island home-cooking. She provides you with a easy to read map of the island and a perfectly detailed orientation.
The island is easy to get around once you've taken a day to get acquainted with the main roads.

This home has two spacious bedrooms a tiny eat-in kitchen and a comfy living room space with a TV and mini radio/ CD player. The bathroom is perfectly stocked with fresh towels, toilet paper and other toiletries (deliberately left over by other guests). Everything you'll need for your stay and Vieques excursions can be found in the house. Board games, books, CD's , beach towels & chairs, coolers, sunblock, cook ware, serving ware, utensils, some pantry items for cooking, a BBQ grill- for beach grilling, extra blankets, extra water in the fridge....

Michelle even lent us her snorkel masks when we wanted to go snorkeling. - So if there is something that you need- it pays to ask her! If she doesn't have "it"- she'll know where you can go to get "it".
The mini supermarket in town is well stocked on main grocery items, beer and liquor.

Trust in her suggestions on where to go for the best beach experiences and breath taking walks. With prior arrangement, her husband, Juan, took us to the Bio Bay and we were able to go out on a two-person kayak into the bay without the insanity of the drunken, loud and filled-to-capacity tour buses. Our experience was one of a kind and breathtaking! Try it ! If only for an hour.

We were on the island from November 25-28th. November is generally rainy season in PR. It's my favorite time to go because it only rains a couple of times for a few minutes and then the weather is sun-shiney lovely for the rest of the day. It's also part of the "low season". Not the same amount of tourists on the island as "high season".

We can not wait to go back. We will definitely plan for a longer stay. It was all well worth it!!

  • Michelle is a fantastic host. She picked us up at the airport, arranged a car rental at last minute during a holiday week when all companies had no availability, and provided a wealth of suggestions and tips about the island. Every time we tried to adventure out ourselves, we kept coming back to Michelle's recommendations as they were always the best!

Case de Caribe is a very clean and small 2 bedroom house near Isabella town. Highly recommend getting a car if staying at this property as it a short drive from the town but too far to walk. The house is in a local neighborhood so you will more than likely hear lots of roosters (which are everywhere on the island) if you are a light sleeper. Michelle has provided a cooler and beach chairs which are perfect for spending the day at the beach.

Overall great host, and a great apartment for a visit to Vieques. Highly recommend!

  • Michelle, her husband Juan and their son Leonardo are the perfect hosts....but not just hosts, they offer an awesome complimentary concierge service. Michelle is extremely knowledgeable of the island and has much information. Listen carefully to her, she knows what you need to know better than you do as she has been doing this for a while. She can also arrange an SUV rental. Her husband Juan was about the nicest guy you could ask to meet. Interested in the Bio-Bay (you should be)....talk to Juan. He can help you experience this place in a very personalized way. Being born and raised their, Juan is a wealth of information. Our key broke off in the door lock as we were about to go snorkeling .They were their within a few minutes (literally) and totally minimized the impact of the problem. I will return to Vieques and work with Michelle in the future. (This was my first visit)
