Ideally located for walking holidays or just relaxing in the summer sun, imbibing the rural air of a typical Mallorquin village with a difference. This snug, tucked away semi-detached cottage (140 m²) with almost a hundred years of history, has one double and one twin bedroom, a large bathroom with bath and shower. The separate dining room exudes character as does the open plan kitchen/living room. Ideal both for summer, thanks to the swimming pool and large terrace with beautiful views of the green mountain slopes across the valley, and for winter, with radiators in every room and an efficient wood burning stove in the living room. The air conditioning helps to keep the cottage cool in summer while the heat pumps warm it up quickly in the winter.
Half built into the mountain side, the large larder/store room also contains the washing machine and a second fridge.

What could be more agreeable than lunch on the terrace in the warm winter sunshine, or an al fresco dinner in the cool of a balmy summer’s evening? Followed by a dip in the pool before a nightcap under the stars?

The house is a five minute walk from the central square of the village, though the walk back uphill may take a little longer!
Alaró itself, with just over 5,000 inhabitants, nestling in the Tramunta foothills, dates back to before the 13th century, and now is a mecca for weekend cyclists and walkers, most of whom stop at one of the pavement cafés for a snack or a drink before continuing on their way. Several top class restaurants surprise visitors with the quality of their menus, while the Saturday morning market is a must for locals and visitors alike. Choose between the craftwork on display, selecting some of the freshest fruit or vegetables on the island or enjoying the organ music concerts in the parish church every week.
The village also boasts two well stocked supermarkets and a variety of other shops, including newsagents selling the international press, and baker’s shops offering the full range of Mallorquin breads, pastries and cakes. A couple of art galleries and a small municipal theatre give the village a faintly cosmopolitan air, combined with its strong local tradition and culture.
Alaró Castle perched up on its mountain peak is a must for hikers or anyone who likes a view with a difference. You can always stop at the Es Verger restaurant on the way down for sustenance after the climb!
A bus runs a shuttle service from the centre of the village to the nearest train station in Consell, on the main line from Palma to Inca/Manacor.

For your comfort this cottage has full electric central heating for winter time, a wood burning stove and the heat pumps of the air conditioning system. The air conditioning makes even the most torrid of summer nights bearable.

Really lovely Cottage, everything as explained in the description. At nightt we heard the nightingale sing. We had a very nice stay . The parking situation was sometimes a little bit complicated and the dogs were often barking. The surrounding is fantastic and we were nice located for our planned hiking tours. Elena was very friendly and we had a little welcome present (wine, olives...). The pool was fantastic and the garden is amazing. So we only can say positive things :)

What a lovely house. It is much nicer in real life! Elena was very organised and nice, and we really felt so well looked after. The kittens were adorable too, and the island gorgeous. The pool was a little chilly in October, but the sea was still warm. Highly recommended.

We stayed for 10 days at the cottage. Elena was a very helpful, flexible and friendly host, replying to all our messages. She met us to guide us to the property by car, showed us around and had a little welcome present for us. The cottage is laying outside the city centre of Alaro and you have to do a very steep drive to get there. As previously mentioned: to have a small car and being an experienced driver makes driving and parking easier. The outside of the house, the terrace, pool and garden are very beautiful and completely private. The view over gardens and the mountains is fabulous. We were not disturbed by noisy roosters. Only the barking of the dogs down in the village could be heard but was not really disturbing. The inside of the house is really good equipped with everything you need but already a little bit old and rural, so some surfaces are a little outworn and the decoration and furnishing a little bit overloaded. Also you have to notice that the beds in the second bedroom are a little bit short and therefore only comfortable to use for children. The city of Alaro is very charming and provides you with everything you need (supermarket, Saturday market in the city centre, different restaurants, ATM, post office,...) and is very well situated to get everywhere on the island you want to.

We had the most wonderful time and the cottage was fabulous and perfect in every way. Elena met us on arrival and explained everything. The mountain views were amazing and the kids loved the pool. We will return!

The house is very like an English cottage which is located on the outskirts of Alaro in a residential area but feels private. Very well equipped, the house stays nice and cool on hot days. The pool is excellent. Access by car is not ideal and parking near the house can be an issue. Alaro is a good base from which to explore Mallorca.

A truly beautiful cottage. It's exactly as described in the description and photos. The cottage was extremely well equipped, and had very charming decor. The views from the terrace were stunning. Very peaceful outside, hard to believe the setting was only a short distance from the town! No evidence of a goose at all - as mentioned in previous comments. Elena and her colleague Antonia were exceptionally welcoming and very helpful with queries that we had, and responded instantly. This house is a perfect example of how a holiday home should be presented and run. Would highly recommend.
