Private clean room in this artist cottage that I live in with one other housemate. It is located in the Magnolia neighborhood near Discovery Park! The room is located in the heated basement with a full bed (not futon as listed...not sure how to remove that), wifi, and your own cable tv. There is a desk to sit and work with room to stretch out and relax. I also have another room that is sometimes available, it is the last picture in the picture gallery!
The cottage has a front deck that is basked in sunlight later in the day, and a back courtyard garden that is wonderful to sit and relish your coffee in the morning.
Free high speed internet and on street parking too!!
You are hosted by Cheryl the owner and one housemate!!
Enjoy the full comforts of home with the use of the kitchen, while being welcomed by our dogs Jackx and Molli. The last of the family includes my 1 kitty Bobbin.
We are one block from the biggest park (Discovery) in the city of Seattle, where you can even walk down to the beach if desired! And we happen to be located near the Ballard Locks where you can see fish making their way back home to their own stream, and walk over to Ballard. Ballard is a wonderful neighborhood with a to-die-for farmers market on Sundays (25 minute walk), I totally recommend the oven-fired pizza or a hotdog form the market vendors.
Magnolia is a great community with awesome restaurants (greek, german, italian, japanese, american) stores and salons. I love Vixen which has the cutest clothing at great prices, and a spa to rejuvenate yourself in!! WE also have a great organic grocery (5 minute walk).
You can take the 33 or the 24 bus to downtown Seattle in 20 minutes, or drive in 5-10 minutes!
Some travel details:
from the airport, SeaTac, you can take the Lite Rail for about $2.50 for a 30-40 minute ride to downtown Seattle. We recommend a cab from there, as it will only be about $10 and a bit easier than the city bus if you have luggage. The cab driver will need directions, whether he thinks he does or not! Once you book, we supply you with all the details for a smooth arrival!
Our closest Seattle Metro bus lines are #24 and #33.
Guests can use the kitchen and laundry.
Interaction with Guests
I like to give the guests their space. And they can come to me with any questions at any time.
It does not feel as if you are in a big city.

Cheryl went above and beyond to make me feel welcome in her home. She was also especially accommodating to my work hours during my stay, which were truly all over the map. The room and bed were extremely cozy and comfortable, the neighborhood was very quiet, and it was awesome to be so close to Discovery Park and its trails! Cheryl also invited me to a home-cooked meal from time to time, which was really cool.
I would highly recommend her place to anyone looking for a quiet piece of Seattle.
Cheryl made me feel at home. She was very curteous and helped point me around Seattle. The room was comfortable and plenty of space for to put my stuff. Her place was in a very relaxed and wonderful part of Magnolia! It is pet friendly!
Beside being a great designer, Cheryl is a fantastic host. I stayed with her for 3 days, and It was easy to feel at home there! She even provided the towels . The bed is very comfortable, and the dogs are super fun to play with. During my last day of stay, she even cooked a delicious spaghetti for us. She is very responsible, and made sure that I am feeling comfortable in the house.
Cheryl was a lovely host - very accommodating and very dear. Her home is warm and cozy with her own artistic accents throughout. The house is in a quiet neighborhood conveniently located next to beautiful running, biking, and hiking trails. I really enjoyed our conversations and had a blast playing with her animals. I look forward to seeing her again when I come back in the fall!
I greatly enjoyed staying with Cheryl. The house is in a wonderful location, conveniently located near two different bus lines and right at the entrance to Discovery Park, one of the largest green spaces in Seattle, with miles of hiking, beaches, and exploring opportunities.
Cheryl is easy going, gracious, and a great conversationalist. The room is set up with everything you need, just show up with your clothes and you’ll be set. She was very helpful about giving advice on things to do or places to go.
The animal friends at the house are great. Both the dog and cat are well behaved and sweet. It was so nice to be greeted by them everyday.
Overall, staying here was a fantastic experience, I recommend it.
