About This Listing
Private clean room in this artist cottage that I live in with one other housemate. It is located in the Magnolia neighborhood near Discovery Park! The room is located in the heated basement with a full bed (not futon as listed...not sure how to remove that), wifi, and your own cable tv. There is a desk to sit and work with room to stretch out and relax. I also have another room that is sometimes available, it is the last picture in the picture gallery!
The cottage has a front deck that is basked in sunlight later in the day, and a back courtyard garden that is wonderful to sit and relish your coffee in the morning.
Free high speed internet and on street parking too!!
You are hosted by Cheryl the owner and one housemate!!
Enjoy the full comforts of home with the use of the kitchen, while being welcomed by our dogs Jackx and Molli. The last of the family includes my 1 kitty Bobbin.
We are one block from the biggest park (Discovery) in the city of Seattle, where you can even walk down to the beach if desired! And we happen to be located near the Ballard Locks where you can see fish making their way back home to their own stream, and walk over to Ballard. Ballard is a wonderful neighborhood with a to-die-for farmers market on Sundays (25 minute walk), I totally recommend the oven-fired pizza or a hotdog form the market vendors.
Magnolia is a great community with awesome restaurants (greek, german, italian, japanese, american) stores and salons. I love Vixen which has the cutest clothing at great prices, and a spa to rejuvenate yourself in!! WE also have a great organic grocery (5 minute walk).
You can take the 33 or the 24 bus to downtown Seattle in 20 minutes, or drive in 5-10 minutes!
Some travel details:
from the airport, SeaTac, you can take the Lite Rail for about $2.50 for a 30-40 minute ride to downtown Seattle. We recommend a cab from there, as it will only be about $10 and a bit easier than the city bus if you have luggage. The cab driver will need directions, whether he thinks he does or not! Once you book, we supply you with all the details for a smooth arrival!
Our closest Seattle Metro bus lines are #24 and #33.
Guests can use the kitchen and laundry.

I had an absolute blast staying with Cheryl in her home! The listing was as described, and the zoo was the most lovable pair I've ever encountered.
Her neighborhood was easily accessible to downtown by bus. (Great for me since I didn't feel like renting a car!) Walking over to Discovery Park for a hike on the Loop Trail and to Ballard for delicious dessert was a breeze.
I would definitely recommend her place if you want some much needed peace and quiet after a busy day in the midst of the hustle and bustle of downtown. Hope I can make it back to the area soon because I would stay here again in a heartbeat! :)
I was in a crunch to book a room for the same day and Cheryl made it very easy for me. She was very quick to respond, easy to communicate with and accommodating to our schedule. The overall experience was a pleasure!
Cheryl and her home was lovely, colorful and quirky in the best ways. Not only did she have the most adorable pets but she also made us feel at home. We came to Seattle to run a marathon and when we returned she was so proud of us.
Cheryl was very very gracious. She made us feel welcome and I really enjoyed hearing about her home-based business. This is the first time we have ever stayed IN someone's home in a room and, although it was an adjustment for us, it was just fine. The bed was extremely comfortable. We also loved her dog and cat!
The room was great and the bed very comfy. Cheryl's house is very warm and cozy. The loction is great because the busstop is just around the corner with two buses going directly to downtown. Cheryl is just lovely! She has a great humor and is very helpful regarding any questions about the City, where to eat and what to see! Last but not least her dog and cat are just craaaaazy ☺
In 5 bullet points: best host you can imagine!!, awesome place!, very close Discovery park, 30 walking minutes from Beach, close to Downtown (via Bus) and Ballard Shopping Street. GO THERE!
Cheryl is the best host ever! She gave me a great time, and I was so glad I could spend some time together with her. She was very helpful and provided me with lots of information what to do in the neighbourhood. She was so helpful, kind and nice, just to name a few of the things: one evening she cooked awesome spaghetti for us, I could spend time with her (that was really so much fun), and when I went to the airport and a strip of my bag broke, she helped me out.
I would have loved to stay there longer and would definitely stay there again. I made a new friend, and I'm really so glad I met her. It was my first stay via Airbnb and it could not have been any better.
I searched for a room to sleep in, and when I was there it felt like coming home.
I received a very warm welcome! The room is awesome. A very soft, big nice bed with lots of pillows. I had a great sleep. The room and the neighbourhood are very quite. The room has 2 closets and I also got 2 towels. The house is beautiful, lots of art and designs. Just great!
There are Jackx (2 years old Labrador) and Barben, a very cute cat who both love to cuddle. They made my stay even better.
Cheryl provided me with detailed feedback regarding the directions to find the place. The taxi driver used his navi and he found the place easily.
Neighbourhood: plan some time to walk through the locks (you can see salmons swimming up the fish ladder), then you can walk along the coast to a very nice beach. There's also a place to rent SUPs.
The way back I walked through Ballard, lots of small arty shops (that close between 6 and 7 pm however). Plan some time for Discovery Park, that's really nice.
