My partner, myself and our 2 year old spent a very present week in Mairead's charming cottage. Mairead was most welcoming and hospitable providing all the basics in the kitchen to get you started on a holiday. The house was absolutely beautifully, clean, bright and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable always important on holidays and our 2 year old slept in a travel cot that we brought with us. The artistic decor is very tasteful in the very well maintained house, ideal for a relaxing break just taking it easy or as a base to see the attractions in the area. The local beach Ballyrisode Beach is great for a swim of just exploring the rock pools. Barley cove another great beach in the area. The house is private and it is lovely having your own garden when on holidays. I would highly recommend it.

I spent four days in this lovely place and was made to feel very welcome. Mairead was a great host she provided a fine balance between being available and affording a sense of privacy just perfect for me as I was on my own. The cottage is absolutely beautiful homely warm and comfortable and maintained to a high standard a little bolt hold to recoup and relax. Little touches such as fresh flowers in the bedroom and on the dining room table plus some homemade almond biscuits all added to being made feel welcomed. The location is wonderful so close to lovely beaches, countryside and towns with good restaurants and coffee shops. I look forward to many return visits.

The listing was exactly as described. A very well maintained property in a lovely setting with beautiful views over the West Cork countryside. It is in a secluded area that was perfect for the two of us and our dog. The property is a 5 minute drive into Schull which has everything you need and some great options for food and drinks. We found lovely walks around the area and I cycled out and up Mount Gabriel on two occasions - a lovely cycle for any enthusiast. 20 minutes to Barleycove beach which is world class (when the weather is right)

My wife and I had a super relaxing 4 nights in this cottage. The hosts made us feel very welcome. On arrival the cottage was very clean, and Mairead had even gone to the trouble of leaving us a few much appreciated snacks and supplies. This cottage will particularly appeal to those who are looking for a remote rural getaway. We loved our early morning walks, and trips to the beach for sea swimming. When the weather turned a little chilly we were happy to spend evenings in the cosy cottage reading and watching movies. Although the cottage is remote the town of Schull is around 12 minutes away, this has plenty of pubs, shops and restaurants. We hope to visit again soon! :)

The cottage is just as described and located in a beautiful part of West Cork 4 miles west of Schull. Fixtures and fittings are to an excellent standard and Mairead has made sure that everything is there to make your stay comfortable. The cupboards have a stock of all those basics that you need including tea, coffee, sugar, seasonings, pasta etc. - so much easier than stocking up from scratch. Mairead has provided maps and brochures of things to do and see in the area, and will give great insider knowledge on the best places for this and that. If you like to swim make sure to take a dip at Ballyrisode Beach - a beautiful little sandy cove. This place is a treasure and the perfect place to unwind and destress. Mairead and Tony are very welcoming hosts but will leave you to your own devices if you wish. Can't recommend it more highly - 5 stars!

I would highly recommend Mairead' cottage in West Cork. It is in a beautiful, peaceful location and very close to some wonderful walks and amazing scenery. Mairead was a great host. She was very thoughtful and made us feel comfortable and at home during our stay. The cottage itself was very clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view over Sheep’s Head peninsular. Fantastic couple of days - I would absolutely stay here again.

Mairead made us feel very welcome from the outset and was on hand if we had any queries but was not intrusive. The cottage was lovely - clean and bright and comfortable - and in a lovely quiet location. It was really a home away from home for us and exceeded all our expectations. We would not hesitate in staying there again if we're in the area, or recommending it to others who want to just get away from it all.

I live with my husband Tony close to the furthest SW corner of Ireland. I'm a keen gardener, walker, reader and swimmer in the cold sea; Tony paints. As guests we're fairly quiet and like to leave our accommodation as if we hadn't been there. Our holidays tend to be in warm places or in lively cities - the opposites of where we live. As hosts we aim to be hospitable and friendly, while guarding our guests' peace and privacy as our neighbours across the yard.
My ambition is to do a long hiking holiday.
