The house sleeps 12+ people. It is set on 1 acre of land 100 metres from the beach at Amity. We will be living there from May to December 2014. My project is creating a beautiful garden at the front of the house so please bring a plant if you can!
Dolphins most sunsets in the shallows 100 metres from the back gate. Fantastic sunsets and wildlife. Apart from our bedroom, the house can comfortably sleep 8 or 9 people (children and adults). A total of 4 bedrooms. For a virtual tour, go to:

Interaction with Guests
How much you wish to interact with us is entirely up to you. We are pretty laid back. We are an Australian and Japanese couple. I am a retired lawyer who lived in Asia for about 23 years. Fluent English and Japanese spoken and also basic French, Vietnamese and Indonesian.
Amity is a small sleepy town so expect a fairly quiet holiday.
In terms of getting around, there are bus services on the island but it would probably be better if you rent a car. You need to catch a barge (which takes cars) and takes about 1 hour or take a fast boat to the island from Cleveland (about 25 minutes).
Other Things to Note
Although the ocean is a 100 metre walk, there are times when sharks have been sighted so don't expect any long distance open water swimming. I go in for a short dip each day when I am there. On the other hand, families of dolphins love the spot. Also good fishing off the beach at times.
The house is pet friendly. In terms of house rules, common sense determines these. Just enjoy your holiday and be nice. If you smoke...you can do that on the large verandah. I do.
Andrew's place and his warm hospitality exceeded our expectations. The location of the house is a short and pleasant walk through forest to a beach that is popular with playful dolphins. I also saw a dark wallaby on the way to the beach. The house is relaxed and comfortable in layout. My 2 year old granddaughter immediately felt at home. Upon establishing "her bed", she settled in a way that we have never seen before, absorbing the gentle and welcoming vibe of host and place.
Andrew's house is a sprawling pole house perched in amongst tall trees. I arrived at sunset and went through the trees to see the dolphins playing really close to the shore line. What a beautiful beach! Great conversations into the night, a wonderful and unexpected meal and a clean warm room to sleep in. Andrew, you are a great and welcoming host and thanks. P.S The home made soap was a lovely touch.
