Other Things to Note

Silent Day Rules...........
What happening on the 31th March.............
Bali's Day of Silence "Nyepi" 2014
Saka New Year 1936 of Hindus

Dear Valued guests,

The Balinese Hindus do not celebrate the coming of the new year of Saka calendar with lavish party; they celebrate it with meditation instead. No activities are allowed to take place. These mandatory religious prohibitions include no pleasure (amati lelangon), no traffic (amati lelungan), no fire (amati geni) and no work (amati karya).
This year, Nyepi Day falls on 31 March 2014.

On Nyepi Day, we will not be able to accept any check-in nor check-out throughout the day.

We notice that you will be staying with us during Nyepi Day, kindly be informed of the below situations during Nyepi Day:

The silence begins at 0:00 am of 31 March 2014 and will go on until the next 24 hours
All shops are closed on Nyepi Day
Guests has to stay inside the resort area
When listening to the music or watching TV in the villa, keep the sound at minimum level
There will be no traffic on that day in the whole Bali island
Ngurah Rai airport will be totally closed on 31 March 2014, so there will be neither arrival nor departure in the airport on that day. All connecting airports around the globe have been informed in advance about this.
Across Bali, the activities are allowed only in emergency rooms and maternity section of hospitals and the arrival section of airport. Any emergencies are taken into consideration and tolerated. The whole island is in silence.

However, operational activities and services in the resort will operate normally.

One day before Nyepi, Pengerupukan Day, there will be a nearest Ogoh-Ogoh parade performed by our neighboring Nagi villagers in the evening. Ogoh-Ogoh is the manifestation of a person, an object or anything that disturbs human lives. This parade is an exorcism ceremony at the main village crossroad, the meeting place of the demons. Beforehand, there will be a Perang Api (fire war) to start the parade with.

  • Great house, larger than it looks on the images. It was neat and clean. We enjoyed our stay. Sadly the wifi wasn't good enough for us, I need wifi to work, but it was good enough for regular use. Expect around 0.5-0.7 Mbit/s, thats pretty normal in Bali. There was also a few ants, but that is also pretty normal in Ubud.

But the hosts where great, and the breakfast was very good. They did everything possible to make our stay comfortable.

  • Pretty house tucked in a pretty village near Pengosekan. Away from the crowds, but still very accessible to Ubud. Gusde and Wayan were very kind and helpful during my stay. Driving, arranging tours, solving problems. I would definitely stay here again.

  • We loved the villa and its location! The center of Ubud is very crowded so I was pleased the villa was a few minutes out of the center in a beautiful setting.
The villa is exactly like in the photos and Putri and Wayan were excellent hosts. The private pool is fantastic!
They give you lifts to the center when you need them and good advice on places to see. We wanted to buy some art and Wayan brought us to a gallery out of Ubud where we could buy originals.
My partner got sick during our stay and they were most helpful: they called us a doctor at night and checked on us in case we needed anything.
I hope to go back, great villa and excellent service!

  • this place was lovely. I booked the 2 room villa so it came with the outdoor pavilion, kitchen and pool. I recommend doing that so that you will have private access to the villa pool. The owners are friendly. The manager, Wayan, is an absolute delight. ask him to bring you on a day trip to nearby places you are interested in. He personalises them to exactly what you like and does them for a very reasonable rate. We had conversations on sustainability and cultural tourism as he drove and even visited traditional Balinese house compounds local Balinese lived in thanks to him. The staff are flexible and really sweet. Breakfast and the shuttles are at flexible timings and best enjoyed if you just let wayan know your preferred timings in advance, you do not have to follow the scheduled ones. Not everyone wants breakfast at 8 when on holiday. Bring Insect repellent/balm , it is in the middle of rice fields after all. it is much better insect wise if you turn the air conditioning on and keep the doors/windows closed after nightfall. The bathrooms are all open concept, please take note if you are not traveling as a couple or with family. Wifi is strong and reliable. The owners also own a restaurant BaliPesto in can order food in from there to dine privately in your own pavilion. The food is pretty decent and all the iced drinks were clean. Breakfast (Indonesian /western, fruit, fresh Juice and coffee/tea) is made by staff who come down to the villa. The restaurant is a convenient place to stop for a rest in Ubud and wait comfortably while the staff there get the driver in for you. Lifts by car to Ubud is included in the cost, which is great but also essential because the villa is some distance from the town centre and walking is impossible at night when rural areas are pitch black. This place is a good mix between a semi professional hotel and having local hosts and a particularly good choice for a place like Ubud.

  • The" great new house..", aka manuaba inn was a complete and pleasant surprise. We had a beautiful little house in the back of the complex. so quiet in bustling Uud, but so close to the main drag. our host was a wonderful accommodating lady. The Bali breakfast she prepared for us ( we request traditional meal) was unmatched. no question, I would stay here again.

  • Villa was an absolute dream. Private villa overlooking the rice paddies a little bit out of town with your own secluded pool for when it gets hot (or to wake you up in the morning). We were able to walk into town (20 minutes to the centre of town) or ask Wayan to give (email hidden) into or out of town when required. He was great at giving advice on what to do and was able to organise tours for us as well (saving us more money). He certainly made our stay in Ubud very worthwhile.

We will definitely be coming back.

  • Nice place to relax on Ubud, the bungalows are in the middle of a beautiful balineese garden, outside kitchen and big terasses. The rooms are clean and confortable, but in ours some fourmies were falling down from the rooftop, directly in our bed ! Not very disturbing, anyway you are in Bali :) The staff is nice and will help if needed

  • We had a wonderful stay at this villa for our honeymoon. We were there for three nights. The villa is absolutely beautiful and furnished in a very tasteful and traditional way. The pool and outdoor area is fantastic as well. Breakfast was cooked for us each morning and tasted great. We love nasi goreng, the Indonesian special rice dish! Yum!

The best part of the villa though is the manager and driver, Wayan. Wayan drove us everywhere we wanted to go for reasonable prices. You really don't want to drive or ride a moped yourself in Bali! Crazy roads! Wayan took us to a few places we had already decided we wanted to go to (Monkey Forest, Elephant Safari Park, volcano climb at Mount Batur, and hot springs), as well as recommending places to us. One place we really liked which he recommended was a coffee plantation. You got to taste many kinds of tea and coffee and get a tour of the grounds. Wayan's English was very good, and he was nice to talk to.

We never met Putri at the villa, but we did meet the guard, the cook, and the cook's assistant - all very nice. Someone would come and clean the villa each day while we were out, and it was very well cleaned.

The only issue we had during our stay was a very loud, constant noise which kept us up our first night there. We found out the next morning that it was the water heater connected to our villa. Wayan showed us how it could be turned off at night so that the noise stops. Then we would just turn it back on in the morning when we wanted hot water to shower - it was very easy. I do recommend that the owners fix the root of the problem however. (I am thinking it might be a new thing, as other reviewers haven't mentioned it.)

The grounds of the villa are absolutely beautiful, surrounded by rice fields. I loved reading a book and just staring out at the scenery while I relaxed. As other reviewers have mentioned, the villa is a 5 minute drive outside of Ubud. With Wayan there, this is not a problem at all, and the villa is a welcome respite from the hectic city.

I would definitely recommend a stay at this villa if you will be in Ubud!

  • Great place to stay. Even nicer than the pictures, and Putri is so so nice. The location is great, right near Ubud yet so so relaxing and peace full. You will never want to leave! Wayan the manager and Putri make a great team and you will be happy you stayed.
