Located in a great centric location (El Cangrejo) half-way between the Veneto Hotel & Casino and Via Argentina. Walk to the best restaurants, clubs, and attractions: the Cinta Costera, Habanos Cigar Club, Calle Uraguay...

A great vantage point to watch the bustling activity near the Universidad Inter-Americana in the day and experience the contrasting serenity at night as you can sit as if part of the canopy of trees that line the tranquil street below and highlight the scenic view of the stoic campus of the Universidad de Panama.

This is a true hidden-gem and great value.

Ideal for the frequent business or social traveler to Panama who likes to be near the fun and wants to feel free to relax and find comfort in their own private sanctuary. Plus, 4:20 is the perfect time to watch the commuter traffic hustle home.

  • As the first time, which was June 2013, I enjoyed my stay at David and Monica's. They are very kind and helpful, their place is clean and comfortable and the neighbourhood has shops, bars, restaurants at hand. Good place!

  • David and Monica are great. We had Monica pick us up from the airport.

David has an awesome book where he has summarized some of the great nearby attractions and how to get there.

The neighborhood is fantastic and is safe to walk around at night (in my opinion). Lots of great bars, cafes and restaurants.

The apartment is very spacious and roomy with a nice outdoor balcony/work area. Large TV although we didn't use it. Also, in-unit washer and dryer available for use.

The actual bedroom is average. It has a bed, a functional air condition, a flat screen TV with cable, and some storage space. It is however on the smaller side and we did find a few ants in the room on several occasion. Not a big deal but still not ideal.

For the value, this is great and David/Monica can make a nice easy transition to Panama City.

  • Practical and budget friendly. This is a safe and clean spot, and a good location. Close to El Cangrejo (neighborhood with lots of restaurants and bars) and about a 10 minute cab from Casco Viejo. You can use the kitchen, the room is clean, and there is a cute balcony. Definitely perfect for someone planning to explore most of their days, less ideal for hanging around at the room.

  • Monica and David were so friendly. The area is pretty great - steps to the Veneto Hotel area and a $4 cab ride to the old city. The room was a bit small for two people but we weren't in it much. The apartment itself is nice (and safe).

The pick up from the airport was such a wonderful touch!

Thank you for a great stay.

  • The room listed as private, i.e. all single rooms are private, but no separate bathroom, only shared. For $36/night it is expensive and US$ goes a long way in Panama. There were a few hotels a block away, i.e. Hilton, Crown el Panama, Veneto, and it's $80-$90/night. I opted for real hotel.

Airbnb and listings on similar sites are hit and miss, this location is a miss, and I don't recommend it. I was offered taxi service by the host for $20 to Flamenco Marina, where the canal tour starts. I didn't accept. Taxi service cost me $6, one-way to the marina. To be fair, the local residents mentioned that taxi service can fluctuate because there's no meter and tourists get charge a different price than local residents. The price also dependent on whether or not it's paid week.

In summary, location is everything in Panama (most destinations for that matter) and I recommend staying in well lit and touristy areas.

  • David and Monica really blew us away with how hospitable they were to us. They picked us up from the airport and when Monica realized we were trying to get to the bus station with a big heavy surfboard bag via taxi, she gave u a lift. Comfortable room, clean kitchen and common area. I'll definitely stay with them again when we go back through Panama City. Highly recommended.

  • This place is centrally located between the downtown area and Casco Viejo (old town). The rooms and bathrooms are clean, the kitchen is really nice to cook in with a great covered outdoor patio to eat meals and watch the local birds eat from the bird feeders. The free laundry is amazing as the city gets very hot and you get very sweaty. David and Monica are really nice and are a wealth of info in terms of where to eat, visit and how to get around. Also, our bus leaving Panama did depart until 930 pm and they let us keep our room all day and shower in the evening, even though they had a guest coming in the next day. That was super nice of them! I will always stay here when I go to Panama City.

  • Super-comfortable, convenient, very clean stay in the Cangrejo! We stayed 2 nights, one at the start and one at the end of a week-long Panama trip. The apartment is very close to some good places to eat (El Greco, Jimmy's). David and Monica were helpful, even arranging a ride to the airport at the crack of dawn our last morning. Definitely recommend!

  • David and Monica are very accommodating and laid back. They were eager to help when asked, while respecting your privacy. It was very helpful to have Monica pick us up from the airport, seeing as it was our first time in Panama, and to use her comparatively-priced taxi service for other paseos as well. Perfect location from which to visit the city on foot or from which to base your travels. Interesting to meet other travellers and hear their stories too.

  • We stayed for a couple of days in a room in Davids appartement. We had a nice stay and David and Monica are very friendly. It was perfect that we were able to use the washing machine for free. You have to know that you are sharing this place with other guests. But it is big enough and watching the birds on the balkony is fun. Walking to the fishmarket will take about 35 minutes. Walking to Metrocentro Mall will take about 25 minutes. But you have many options to eat and drink in the area.
The kitchen could be a bit cleaner. But the room was clean and that is the most important.

Honest Kind Gentle Man! Sorry Folks!... but I am just not set up to "show rooms" without a confirmed reservation. Likewise I do not exchange contact information without a confirmed reservation. Both practices are contrary to the "terms and agreement with AirBnB and have proven to be a potentially unsafe, difficult, awkward, and time consuming. Our general experience has been that guests that take advantage of airbnb by contacting us via the system yet insist on transacting off-line of airbnb are most prone to take advantage of us as hosts. Plus soliciting us via the airbnb messaging system to transact off-line puts our standing in jeopardy with airbnb. it would be documented in writing that we are willing participants to usurp the system. ...But I'd love to host you NO DOUBT. Smile!
