Interaction with Guests
We are committed to delivering our guests Clean Simple Fresh rooms in a safe, comfortable, tolerant casual setting. Our secondary goal is to enable our guests to settle in and orient themeselves so they can freely and completely enjoy Panama City. We offer various additional services to guests such as airport transfers and city tours. We also host guests aboard our 33 ft catamaran Aryil Irijah moored in the San Blas Islands. This all said....we are about as busy as most of our guests….and like most of our guests we come and go. We each keep our smartphones nearby so we are usually pretty accessible for any issues or concerns. We have a proven and reliable network of local contacts that are available to help us if we are out of the immediate area and not physically able to address a concern. We maintain a hot-line phone on the balcony for guests to reach us 24 hours. We have prepared an interactive (thus evolving) guidebook to serve as a stand alone resource for our guests in terms of sites, transportation, restaurants, and recommendations of things to do. It is written with our own words, perspective and thoughts as a 13 years living Panama City shares our recommendations, concerns, and ‘top picks'. We provide detailed turn by turn directions.This guide also contains information to general and specific guest concerns: automated teller machines, toilet paper, towels, linen, Check out. Our neighborhood is Cangrejo. It is a triangular shaped ‘barrio" bound by Avenida Manuel Batista Espinosa, Via Argentina, and Via Espana. The Church of Carmen (Iglesia del Carmen) marks the intersection of Via Espana and Manuel Batista Espinosa (we are on Manuel Batista Espinosa) and also marks the name change from Manuel Batisita to Federico Boyd Boulevard . Via Argentina dead-ends into Manuel Batista Espinosa on one end and dead-ends into Via Espana on the other.
There is a gas station called Puma (co-located with Super 7 convenience store) where Via Argentina terminates at Manuel Batista Espinosa and there is Café “Don Blas" where Via Argentina terminates into Via Espana. Via Argentina has over 25 restaurants and bars alone on the 1 km long road. This area is filled with internet cafes, restaurants, traveler services and the artisan shops to cater to the cosmopolitan residence.
A quick left and a quick right going the other way and you are steps away from 24 hour activities and services. International Supermarket., Casino. outdoor cafes and pubs, pizzerias, McDonalds, and quality international restaurants for every budget and many different tastes.
A 10 minute walk puts you on Balboa avenue and the paved coastal walkway/bike way Cinta Costera…a spectacular scenic eperience. It is literally a 5 kilometer municipal park that presents the best of Panama City you can walk run bike or sit en route to the Fish Market and Casco Antiguo along the way.
For the most part, wherever you walk in this neighborhood you will be within sight and sound of a policeman or private security guard.
The university, neighboring hotels and apartments, and resident embassies maintain a constant security presence.
Cangrejo is 18 km from the international airport and about 4 km from Albrook bus terminal and Albrook domestic airport.
This is a Walking Disitrict! It is usually quicker to walk to any destination than it is to take a cab or drive for that matter…you just might not arrive as dry.
I do not recommend guests bring a rental car. There is no assigned parking available and can be cumbersome to manage for all parties. There are about a half dozen rental car agencies around the corner.
I recommend that guest who opt to rent a car to cross the bridge and explore the interior of Panama to arrange to have a car for the specific days of travel.
(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps, etc as of May 2014, do not accurately reflect the multiple one-way traffic patterns and various changes to the traffic patterns resulting from the new metro system and other capitol roadway projects completed in 2014.
The subway was opened in April 2014. The Iglesia del Carmen subway stop is about 400 meters from us.
Other Things to Note
On 7 January 2015, the building administration gave notice that the elevator will be "Out of Service" indefinitely. The unit is on the 6th Floor. There is no one available to assist guest with their luggage. The price has been adjusted accordingly. This notice will remain until the status has changed.
+No Smoking in Rooms! (there is a balcony and ashtrays for your use).
+Please wash your dishes and clean your cooking surfaces as a minimum. Dry, stack return would be ideal!
+Have as much fun as you can with the other guests without imposing on their personal mental and private space!!
+Accept responsiblity for your behavior and your guests!
+Feel welcome to all the amenities and appreciate the fact that you may need additional information before you can safely navigate some items. Namely the electrical and gas appliances (e.g. stove, washer, dryer, grill)
