Beautiful room in up and coming (gentrified): neighborhood! All the space you need (including your own bathroom & full access to kitchen) to relax and get some rest between Portland adventures!
Please allow me to show off my sweet hosting skills:)
Enjoy a large master bedroom with king sized bed, sitting area, Keurig coffee maker, hot water kettle, cable TV, free WiFi, shake weight (don't knock it til you try it;), balcony, and private bath. PLUS, full access to the kitchen and a shelf in the fridge stocked with your favorite (complimentary) breakfast items!
The house is located in the Historic Kenton neighborhood and is easily accessible by public transit, though there is also plenty of street parking.
Your space is the master bedroom and private bathroom located on the second floor of a new construction, energy efficient townhouse. The bedroom features a king bed (just purchased in February 2014) with plenty of soft linens and comfy pillows.
The room also features a sitting area with a cozy & sleek love seat, cable TV and a balcony with two sun loungers. More than 2 guests are welcome for $15 a night/person-no cost for kids under 10 (although we cannot provide an additional bed), and there is plenty of room for a travel crib.
The private bath features towels, full-size shampoo, conditioner, soap, and shower gel so you can save your TSA baggie for the things that really matter to you. There are also lots of complimentary samples and mini toiletries to purchase (at cost) if you forget anything. Blow dryer provided too!
Honor Bar stocked with lots of snacks and beverages at cost (rounded to nearest dollar amount). Let me know if there are any special treats that you would like to see to help make your trip special...
We are located near train tracks and the trains do sound their whistle when passing. We have never had any complaints with sound. In fact, most enjoy the occasional sound of the train. Earplugs will be provided for sensitive ears!
Sadly the home has stairs and is not ADA accessible.
We regret to say that we no longer have Rocket, Cassie's dog, in the house. Due to some health issues, we had to find a new, loving home for her. She is very happy in her new home & we miss her dearly.
Please make yourself at home!
Guests can come and go as they please using the keyless deadbolt. The code will be set to the last 4 digits of the phone number on the reservation.
Guests have access to their room and the main floor which features an open style kitchen, table, and a sitting area.
The kitchen has all you need to whip up breakfast (all the kitchen utensils and gadgets for most all dishes). You can help yourself to what is in the fridge & any spices.
Email a breakfast request in advance and your favorite items will be available to you.
Guests can also access the washer and dryer at no additional cost. Detergent supplied. There is an iron and small ironing board available as well in the laundry room.
Wifi is also included.
Interaction with Guests
Stephenie (the homeowner), Cassie & Will (the roommates) all work full-time, but are excited to get to know you.
If you check in during the workday you can let yourself in with our keyless deadbolt. Again, the code will be set to the last four digits of the phone number on the reservation. The bedroom is on the second floor with "welcome" on the door.
If you are checking in after the workday we will be home and happy to meet you.
We are available to recommend fun places to visit or eat, and are happy to give directions, but also respect your space and privacy.
The house is large enough that often times the guests will never see any of the residents of the house... not sure how this happens so often!
Feel free to check in with one of us for whatever you need. We are available by text, call, email any time!
The home is located in the Historic Kenton Neighborhood of North Portland.
Our neighborhood is located 7 miles/15 minutes from downtown Portland, 8 miles/15 minutes from Portland International Airport, and 4 miles/10 minutes from the Alberta Arts District.
In downtown Kenton you can find a public library, bank, coffee shop, local bars, delicious soul food at Po'Shines, the friendly neighborhood pet store, and more.
A short bus ride, bike, or car ride and you are at the Alberta Arts Area. Our favorite breakfast spot is Helser's on Alberta, and there is plenty of local shopping at shops like Frock and the Make House (where Stephenie's sister-in-law shows her creations).
Downtown is an easy Max Ride (30 minutes) features Pioneer Place Mall, underground tours, and Kell's Irish Pub.
There is plenty of free street parking in the dead end cul-de-sac that the house is in.
The home is located near bus line 4-St. Johns (4 blocks) and the Max Yellow Line Kenton Stop (5 blocks). My roommate Cassie has been car-less for most of her life and is happy to give you transit directions.
Once your reservation is confirmed you will get detailed directions about how to get to the house, but you have several options. For $20 I will pick you up, or you can hail a cab for around $30-45, or you can take the Max.
-No pets- sorry :(
-No smoking in the home, if you are a smoker we ask that you go outside (can use the balcony off the bedroom) and pick up your butts as a courtesy to our neighbors.
-Please no drug use or excessive drinking.
-Out of courtesy to our neighbors and us... quiet hours in effect after 10.
Stephanie was a great host for my girlfriend and I during our visit! She was response throughout both the booking process and our stay. We weren't home much except for in the evenings but Stephanie was just the right blend of friendly and unobtrusive.
The room itself was great - extremely comfortable king-sized bed, private bathroom, small television screen, couch and a balcony. Stephanie had the bathroom stocked with whatever amenities we forgot to bring. While we didn't use it, the honor bar is perfect for any snacks or drinks (alcoholic or not) that you might want.
We'd definitely stay here again if we visit Portland again and would highly recommend that others stay at Stephanie's place if visiting Portland.
We just returned from a week-long stay at Stephenie's wonderful suite, our first try at an airbnb. She and her roommates are wonderful hosts and the room was even better than advertised. We may have done too much partying on the trip and found this cozy room to be perfect for sleeping late and rehabbing.
Stephenie goes above and beyond the norm to ensure all guests needs are met. The room was great and would definitely stay again.
Stephenie's room gave us great value. We visited friends in Portland during our stay so the room was our motel bed but with surprising perks. Comfortable king bed, coffee maker in the room, shelf of free breakfast food in the kitchen fridge downstairs, detailed instructions including a phone number for the host, a fruit basket, a well-stocked Honor Bar in the room. Stepanie was out of town but she made sure we felt welcome with directions to her place and signage inside the house. The neighborhood was mixed--industrial area but also a park only a block away. The train whistles didn't keep us awake. We'll definitely want to stay here again in the future.
Stephenie made me feel very welcomed! The room was so comfy, that I felt right at home. The room looks just like the photo. The town of Kenton is really awesome; easy to get to by Max rail, and lots of cute little cafe's, and restaurants with awesome food! The location of the house is conveniently located a few blocks down from the Max rail station. Her roommates were also really nice! This was my first airbnb and it was great! I would recommend this room to everyone.
I couldn't have picked a better spot for a much needed weekend away! My husband and I both work from home and sometimes it really feels like there is no real rest taking place in our lives. Stephenie's home was exactly what we needed.
Her guest room and bathroom were stocked and decorated perfectly. Also, very clean. Coffee maker 5 feet from the bed! Genius. The bed itself may be the most comfortable thing I've ever slept on.
Stephenie was an excellent hostess. She was laid back and welcoming. It truly felt like we were her housemates for the weekend. We even had a shelf in the fridge! She had great suggestions for thrift shopping and gave me the run down of how Portland is laid out.
I have been to Portland many times but this trip was by far the best experience I've had. Thank you Stephenie for helping me start my 30's off right!
We had a wonderful experience staying at Stephenie's house. She provided everything - literally everything - to make our stay comfortable and homey: breakfast, clean towels, coffee and tea, and privacy. She also gave us tips on different sights to see around Portland, from restaurants to bookstores to nature hikes like Multnomah Falls. What's great is that you can enter and exit whenever you want and not feel like you're bothering anyone else. Also, we were sad that the dog no longer lives there :( But Stephenie and her roommates proved to be awesome so we can't complain.
Hi, my name is Stephenie and I look forward to getting to meet you! I am a laid back, social justice minded professional who mentors youth. I am currently working with my mom and sister managing two Curves franchises (a big shift from the last 8 years in which I was the Coordinator for an after school tutoring and mentoring program at a local high school). I loved my experience using Airbnb, so I decided to become a host.
I have a large family that is extremely important to me. I am lucky enough to have the house that everyone wants to come to to celebrate their birthdays and Christmas (don't worry... I'll block those days off so there are no surprise parties while you visit... unless you want some great food!)
I love to cook but rarely have enough time to do it. I have a couple Indonesian dishes that I'm good at (my mom was born in Indonesia and is half Indonesian and half Dutch-she is the Nederlands speaker... not me, unfortunately). Aside from that (don't laugh) nachos are my favorite... I make a mean plate (and by plate I mean cookie sheet full) of nachos.
I am originally from the Bay Area (go Niners & Giants!!) I moved to Oregon to go to college (Go Ducks!) and love it here (Go Timbers!). I have been in the Portland area for 15 years (aside from the ~1 year I lived in St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands) so I know my way around pretty well. Between Cassie (see below), Will (see below), my iPhone, and I, we can get you where you need to go!
I can't wait to be able to share my house with you! I think I was born to host! Send your requests and I will make sure you have your favorite snacks, breakfast food, your shows DVRed (is that a word?) and waiting for you, or even a movie rented that you have been wanting to see but haven't gotten to go rent yet. Let me make you feel at home and on vacation at the same time!
I share my home with two permanent roommates Cassie, who is a nonprofit professional and also a fabulous baker so if you are nice to her, she may have a treat for ya! Will, works for the same after school tutoring and mentoring program I used to work for. We are all away from the home more than we would like so you will find yourself with the house to yourself quite a bit!
