Sunny, spacious & stylish 1 bedroom apartment. 5-10 minute WALK to boutiques & bites at Sunset Junction & Silver Lake Blvd/Reservoir. Fantastic views of the hills, parking, shady back yard, & dog friendly. You'll want to stay forever.
This sunny, spacious, and stylish 1 bedroom apartment (+ office) is one half of a duplex and located in the Silver Lake Hills. Nobody lives in the apartment so everything is sparkly and clean. We (your hosts) live next door. If you're visiting LA for a weekend getaway our place is perfect. With hardwood floors and tastefully decorated with mid-century modern accents, almost everything in the apartment is brand new. There's a big living room, big dining room, big kitchen, nice sized office with french doors into a large bedroom with panoramic windows that look out onto the Silver Lake Hills. We even remodeled the bathroom for you! The pillow top Queen mattress is made up with bedding that boasts triple digit thread counts because one should never skimp on a good night's sleep. And since the photos were taken, we've installed black-out shades in the bedroom. The couch in the office opens up to a day bed and can sleep an extra guest. If you packed light, don't worry! There's a washer and dryer in the apartment. Hate doing dishes? You're in luck! There's a dishwasher too. If you like to cook there's a new set of Cuisinart Stainless Steel pots and pans. But wait, there's more. Brand new central heat and air conditioning, free wi-fi, cable TV, Apple TV, coffee maker as well as access to a landscaped backyard with a large Kenmore grill.
If you're itching to shop, grab a bite or even get your haircut, the apartment is just 5 minutes by foot down a flight of stairs to Claire Vivier's handbag boutique, Lark Bakery, Heywood Grilled Cheese Shoppe, Stark Waxing Salon and The Hive hair salon. And just 10 minutes to Sunset Junction, the Silver Lake Reservoir and Silver Lake Blvd where you can enjoy independently owned cafes, live music venues, boutiques, a weekly farmer’s market or hop on a bus into Hollywood to check out the walk of the fame. Oh and we're dog friendly too. Before making your reservation, please make sure to message us first with some short info about yourself and a photo on your profile (it helps make things more comfortable on our end). Thanks!
Guests have access to the driveway and garage for parking one or two cars. There is a shared backyard with a patio table, four chairs and an umbrella for shade as well as a large gas grill. We have a Meyer lemon tree so feel free to pick a couple for your cocktails or tea. There is a fig tree too, so come fig season, help yourself to as many as you like.
Interaction with Guests
We're around if you need us, just next door. You might see us from time to time but we're both writers and are often holed up inside, glued to our computers unless we take our dog, Noodle out for a walk.
The neighborhood is one of the most desirable places to live in the city. There are beautiful views and on a clear day, you can see the Hollywood sign and the Griffith Park Observatory from the end of the street. The neighbors are all really friendly, good people and you can walk to get just about anything you need. We are truly right in the center of Silver Lake, walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and fun.
Buses run up and down Sunset Blvd all day long to take you east to Downtown LA or west to Hollywood and beyond. You can take a Sunset Bus to the underground Metro Station in Los Feliz and grab a subway to Pasadena, Culver City or Downtown. And it's never more than a five minute wait for an Uber or Lyft driver to come and pick you up.
Other Things to Note
The bathroom only has a shower, no bathtub. The office is attached to the bedroom by glass French doors so you can sleep another person in there but it's not super private. We are a dog friendly apartment (sorry, no cats) with prior approval and do ask for a pet deposit. There is an iMac computer in the office for internet surfing available for guest use and a spare yoga mat in the closet for visiting or aspiring yogis.
We don't accept reservations of less than a week until 3 months before the requested date. (i.e. December 1st is bookable September 1). Inquiries for stays longer than a week are welcome anytime.
No smoking inside - the backyard is fine but please use an ashtray. No parties, no band practice, no jackhammers, or drilling.
We left the beautiful Silver Lake Oasis apartment yesterday after staying there several weeks. I will always think of the apartment with fond memories. We were in LA for the birth of a grandchild and needed a place close to our daughter and a place from which we could easily walk to restaurants and shops. We especially loved walking to the Silver Lake Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. It was also nice to meet and chat with some of their friendly (website hidden) was a great neighborhood.
Hilary and Jared met us and our dog with with a very laid back and friendly greeting. They were quick to respond to any of our questions or needs but also respected our privacy. They even texted us once when our dog was lonely and crying. They offered to go sit with her if we would like them to. They were genuinely concerned and not at all annoyed.
The place was beautiful and lived up to the description on Airbnb. The best space was the bedroom with panoramic views of Silver Lake. My husband likes to cook he enjoyed all the state of the art pots, pans, and knifes in the kitchen. It was also nice to have the washer and dryer in the apartment.
I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone. We definitely plan to return one day soon. Thank you for a wonderful memory.
I loved my stay at the Silver Lake Hills Oasis apartment, I would totally live here if I could! It's well appointed, spotlessly clean, airy, bright and on a cute circular street with quintessential tall LA palm trees. The back bedroom is worth the stay in itself, two walls of windows showcase gorgeous sweeping views of the Silver lake hills- so heavenly.
Jared was an awesome host- super helpful and communicative and made sure I had whatever I needed. There was even a Nespresso machine, which was such a treat. I really can't say enough good things about the place and I will definitely stay here again when I return to LA. Thanks Jared and Hilary!
Hosts were very welcoming, even provided a couple bottles of wine for our arrival! Very responsive to requests for various kitchen items. The bedroom is the highlight of this place -- very light and bright with wall-to-wall windows. And comfortable bed. We returned to LA for surgery and needed a restful place for recovery. The bedroom was ideal. Bathroom sink was a little frustrating as the protruding medicine cabinet prevents one from leaning fully over sink for face washing or teeth (website hidden) with cable and Apple TV was great because we were in need of entertainment during recovery. Location is in the middle of Silver Lake without being in the midst of the noise and traffic. Off street parking is a big plus in this neighborhood of narrow streets, even though we opted to park on the street it was nice to know we could pull into the driveway if needed. Quiet and restful. Clean.
We couldn't be happier with our stay at the Silver Lake Hills Oasis Apartment. It's everything the pictures show and more! The space is HUGE, airy, and light, with awesome furniture and decor. The bedroom is amazing and the sheets are the softest ever!
Great location that's removed enough for peace and quiet yet close to hip neighborhoods.
Jared and Hilary are super nice and thoughtful, even providing us with a six-pack of beer as well as coffee and cream. They were easy to reach but also gave us total privacy. We loved meeting their dog Noodle too.
All in all, this was one of our favorite Airbnb experiences. Highly recommended!
I had a delightful visit with LA friends & family due to the comfort and ease of Silver Lake Hills Oasis. This spacious unit is half of a duplex, connected to the host's home but with a private entrance. The charming furnishings are exactly as pictured in the photos and everything was immaculately clean. There is lots of storage space (closets, drawers & shelves) plus plenty of quality kitchen appliances, tableware, linens & hangers. The bed was comfie, central ac/heating worked great, easy connection to internet & lots of cable TV channels. The office space with desk & futon was a nice bonus - unexpected in a one bdrm rental. Views from the bedroom windows are spectacular.
Jared & Hilary were very welcoming and helpful hosts - responsive and available when needed, without ever intruding on my privacy. They offered gourmet Meyer lemons from their tree - which made me feel more like a neighbor than a renter! A small maintenance problem was attended to immediately, with consideration for my schedule. The on-site parking was a blessing, as I have a bad knee and this residential neighborhood is hilly with very narrow streets. Recommended for a couple or single person, especially if you plan to spend time in trendy Silver Lake or Los Felix.
Jared and Hilary were great to deal with, very welcoming. The apartment is spacious, light, well appointed and comfortable. A perfect stay.
Jared and Hilary were so helpful and just all around wonderful! It's a great place to stay with a family- very kid friendly and so accommodating. We highly recommend this location to everyone. Two of the nicest people!
We're Jared and Hilary, a couple of writers living in Silver Lake with our corgi/beagle mutt, Noodle. Jared is from Boston and obsessed with EAGLEHEART & GAME OF THRONES. He's read all the GOT books in and out of sequence and is marking off days on the calendar until the show returns to HBO. Hilary is from LA, the coauthor of the upcoming cooking, THE KITCHEN DECODED releasing 11.2014 and obsessed with Mystery Masterpiece on PBS, specifically the show, SHERLOCK. She even has an appetizer plate signed by SHERLOCK star, Benedict Cumberbatch (it's a funny story she will tell you if you're interested.) We enjoy cooking, reading, watching our shows, walking Noodle, going to movies and chit chatting with our neighbors. We couldn't live without Noodle, our laptops and books. Hilary would also be lost without her yoga mat. Our favorite trips have been to Big Sur, New York, Hawaii, Europe and Thailand. We've traveled quite a bit and stayed in a ton of vacation rentals and our standards are high. We believe a comfortable bed and a good night's sleep is crucial and promise both for our future guests.
