About this listing
Large guest suites, private baths, or private cozy cottage for 2 to 30+ nights rentals! A LEGAL rental approved by the City! SEE OUR RAVE REVIEWS FOR OUR BEAUTIFUL ROOMS, GREAT LOCATION AND SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY!
This is an offering for ONE of our large guest suites with a private bath. This is not an offering for the rental of the entire house. This historic home is large and inviting and elegantly furnished with English antiques, wool oriental rugs, and lovely artwork. Each suite has a queen bed and private bath. Each room has a TV with DirecTV, a ceiling fan, and comfortable seating. All guests enjoy a den, living room, and downstairs sitting room. Each of these rooms has a fireplace and we often have them on in cold weather. We are well suited for young professionals, older couples, or solo travelers who want a safe, home-like environment.
We are offering use of one of our beautiful suites with a large bath. This is not a whole house rental. Enjoy the den and big screen TV. You may have the space to yourself, however, it just depends. We have a big porch on the first floor you are also welcome to enjoy. This is a big house and there are plenty of spaces for as much privacy as you want, or as much fun with the other guests as you desire.
Interaction with Guests
We interact with guests a lot, if that is what they seem to want. I am as available as they desire, or as invisible as seems appropriate. Some people want complete privacy and others want to get to know us and learn about Charleston and what it's like to live here. You can read our reviews to get a sense of how we interact. Most people are very friendly and outgoing and we really get to know them and feel a genuine pang when they must finally leave; it has been quite amazing to meet so many wonderful folks.
People love our location because it is an easy walk to everything they come to see! 3 blocks from King Street, 2 blocks from Meeting Street, 1 block from East Bay. This is a quiet tree-lined neighborhood, unlike some of the hotels or B&B's on busy streets that have so much traffic and street noise.
The Historic District has a wonderful free trolly that you can hop on or off as much as you like at their various stops located in convenient places. Catch a free ride all over town as it makes it loop.
Other Things to Note
Starbucks is a half block away. Harris Teeter grocery is 2.5 blocks away. The downtown shopping center with a drug store, liquor and wine store, and deli is 2 blocks away.
No smoking, no EXCESSIVE drinking. We are well suited for older couples or maybe a professional lady or solo traveling woman who wants a very safe environment, or just tame folks who behave respectably. There is nothing wild going on at our house.

This was our first experience utilizing Airbnb and if Vaughn is representative of the hosts on this site, it will not be our last. She was very helpful both before our arrival and during our stay. She was very helpful with questions and suggestions and made our stay comfortable. Her room was quite nice and comfortable and her breakfast is wonderful. Her location within easy walking distance of old Charleston is a plus. Her wealth of knowledge of the city and it's many activities/attractions is also invaluable. I suppose the best indication of our experience is that we would definitely stay there again and would look forward to the stay.
I have used Airbnb extensively for travel in Europe, the U.S. and Canada but never have I found hospitality that rivals Vaughan’s. She is absolutely the best! The breakfasts she serves are like those found in 5 star hotels and the accommodations are on a similar level. Her home is beautiful and full of Charleston charm.
I needed a very late check in as I was flying in from California and that could not have been handled more smoothly. Whenever I had questions about Charleston or needed a recommendation she was there to help. Vaughan is witty, knowledgeable and as helpful as can be regarding her interaction with her guests. It is clear that her goal is to make her guests feel at home and she accomplish it beautifully. Whenever I return to Charleston, this is the place where I will want to stay. I highly recommend Vaughan’s accommodations to all who are looking for the best of Charleston!
Vaughn was a tremendous host, she made my Mother's Day weekend with my daughter-in-law very special. I didn't feel like I was coming into a strangers home, I felt like I was welcomed by my big sister. My only complaint is that she such an amazing cook, I'm going to have to diet upon my return. Thank you Vaughn for a great weekend
I loved the place. The accommodations were very nice. The locations was perfect for walking to anywhere from the Battery to King Street. Very nice.
Vaughan's home is in a lovely old neighborhood of Charleston. Her home is beautiful, and we loved staying there. We stayed in the Guest suite and had plenty of space. The only time that we needed to take a cab anywhere was to and from the airport. Vaughan can provide some fantastic recommendations of local businesses/bakeries/transportation options, and that was really helpful. We walked everywhere. It was a mile or so to the most popular restaurant area and the market, but the walk was very quick and all through historic neighborhoods and areas. We loved our stay here, and Vaughan's breakfast on Sunday morning was fantastic!
Vaughan is a lovely host, wonderful person with a beautiful house in a great location. Short walk to everything. Tour by Vaughan when we arrived was a treat. Breakfast every morning delicious.
I am so glad my boyfriend and I stayed with Vaughan during our trip to Charleston. This was our first airbnb experience, and we are now hooked! Vaughan is a charming hostess who made us feel right at home. Her historic house is lovely and within walking distance of most hotspots. However, she dropped us off at our desired restaurants both nights of our stay, so I did not have to walk far in my heels. The bed was comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. Given the cost of most Charleston hotel rooms, I think our time with Vaughan was an excellent value. I would definitely stay with her again.
