We really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment was lovely: well designed, clean, lots of natural light and a nice space away from the crowds on the beaches. We were thankful for a place to stay with our dog and will definitely be back the next time we come down to Galveston.
This space was gorgeous. Cozy 1920's home perfect place to relax with our family. With that being said, I'm perplexed by all of the pleasant reviews of the host. From the moment I booked all communication was abrupt. This trip was for my husbands birthday. We had two couples, two babies and my parents. When we returned from the strand the cable didn't seem to be working and we were ready to unwind with some football. We asked her to come show us how to use it. While Kelly was there we asked if she happened to have butchers string to roast a chicken. Her exact words were "are you f**kng kidding me? I'm busy fixing the cable" woah!! Then she approached me and told my our children were not babies and counted as additional guests and I needed to pay her more. They are both under 2 years old. Flabbergasted and insulted by how we were treated. We are respecting, polite and tidy people, but were made to feel like an annoyance. $407 for one night to be made to feel like garbage. No thanks.
Oops. I got this Ashlee mixed up with another Ashley. Yes, I might have sounded abrupt when she asked for a refund two days prior to her arrival for extra guest fee and then she arrives with 8 people. One child was old enough to carry an ice chest up 21 stairs. I explained to them upon arrival how to use the remote and it's written on some instructions. Well with all these children handling the remote, it was no wonder they couldn't get it to work. Our price includes a 15% hotel tax so the price per person is very reasonable.
Kelly is a a warm host with great knowledge of the area. We felt welcomed but also enjoyed the privacy of our upstairs flat. The setting is lovely, the space lovingly kept and in keeping with the period of the property. A cool, calm base near beaches and other Galveston attractions.
Beautiful house with a super convenient location! We loved the porch for a relaxing morning and Kelly was a very reliable host
The house was very nice! Beautiful view of galveston and really close to the bar district. The host was very accommodating and easy to work with. Would definitely consider another short trip back here!
Kelly and her husband are very welcoming and accommodating.... Kelly suggested we go to East Beach rather that our normal Stewart Beach routine, and it was fabulous. She was there when we arrived to show us around. The neighborhood is fabulous, right across the street from a park and all the houses are very charming. The space is huge, with two porches... we were so comfortable there we were planning on how we would decorate it if we lived there full time. The decorations are charming and the beds are very comfortable. We plan on coming back to stay at in the big yellow house again next summer, or maybe even sooner.
The hostess made us feel welcome and her lovely home was prepared for our arrival. I appreciated the text messaging she sent prior to the trip that confirmed the arrival and meeting plans.

About the Host, Kelly
My husband and I have lived on the island for the past twenty years and now have a house in Houston as well. I'm a third generation Houstonian and my man is from Switzerland. We have a beautiful yard, because we are avid gardeners. When I travel I prefer to stay in homes where you learn so much more about the local culture. Traveling can give us great and long-lasting memories. Be our guest and you will have very fond memories of a beautiful historic neighborhood on the island just 45 minutes away from Houston.
