About this listing
This house just had its 100th anniversary, but has had tons of updates to keep it fresh. It's on a quiet street, but is an easy walk to Five Points and just 2 miles from downtown.
This bedroom has a comfy full-sized bed that rests in an alcove between closets. It has a private entrance off the front porch where you can have a morning coffee. There is plenty of room to hang clothes or to put them in the antique chest of drawers. The original hardwood floors and high ceilings will remind you that they really don't make them like this anymore. The guest bathroom takes a fresh twist to vintage styling and comes with towels, soaps and bath robes. The bathroom features a clawfoot tub that's just the place for a long soak or shower.
Also, this space is better-suited to people 18 and up. Nashville law requires that the primary renter be over 21.
Guests are welcome to use the whole house (aside from the master suite and basement). You're free to use the WiFi. There is no cable, but I do have Netflix. Make yourself a cup of coffee, or head to the end of the block for a gourmet barista parlor. Try out the deck or patio or porch. Discover the secret garden (the worst kept secret in East Nashville). You're welcome to pop some clothes in the washer/dryer.
Interaction with Guests
I will be present when guests are staying over and am glad to go with the flow of what you need. If I'm available and you want to get the lay of the land, I'm your man. Also happy to give you your space.
I've travelled all over the world and am excited to be able to host some people visiting my town. This home and East Nashville are LGBT friendly.
Within a 10 minute walk of this house are Five Points, Margot's Cafe (on the cusp of the farm-to-table movement), Barista Parlor, Pharmacy Burgers, greasy diners, dive bars, upscale dining, seriously good local coffee, 2 grocery stores, and more hipsters than a vinyl store. (One of those is 2 blocks away.) Downtown Nashville is just 2 miles down the road and Titans Stadium is even closer. Oh, and the greenways, tennis courts, and golf can be accessed 2 miles away on the river at Shelby Bottoms.
The bus stops at the end of the street (a block away). The house has street parking in front and let's face it--that's still the best way to get around Nashville. The easiest way to get here from the airport is by taxi, Lyft, or Uber (about $25)
Other Things to Note
* During December, I put up a real Christmas tree, so if you have allergies to fir, this might not be a good choice for you.
No pets (aside from the fish in the fountain)
No smoking inside (unless I burn the toast)
No drugs (except wine. And chocolate.)
No underaged drinking (that's 21 and I'm a teacher, so it's kind of a big deal.)
No additional guests please--I don't care how cute he or she (email hidden).
Let's try to keep the noise down after 11:00pm (unless we're all hanging together)
We greatly enjoyed our stay in east Nashville at Jim's lovely and clean home. He is warm and friendly and we felt at ease. Awesome ice cream sodas at The Pharmacy down the the block!
Jim was a fabulous host! He went out of his way for us and really made us feel welcome. Had lots of suggestions of places to go and restaurants to eat at - we had a fantastic time staying here. The house is stunning and really good location for shops/restaurants and bars in East Nashville and only a short bus or uber downtown. I would highly recommend Jim's place!
Jim was very accommodating and the room was great. Close to five points or a cheap uber ride to down town.
Jim was an amazing host and the room was great as well. He was able to strike a balance between making sure we felt comfortable and and also giving us some space when we needed it.
He gave us the best restaurant recommendations and they were spot on. The neighborhood was great if you want to grab a drink or eat some amazing food and its also east to get to midtown or downtown Nashville.
My girlfriend and I could not have had a better experience!
Jim has a beautiful, well appointed house that was a pleasure to stay in. The bedroom was great, Jim was super friendly and helpful and the location was ideal, close to five points and a short cab ride to downtown. We highly recommend this place!
Jim is the most welcoming host and his charming house in lovely East Nashville is so wonderful. Upon arrival, he greeted my boyfriend and I and made us feel right at home. We were celebrating our one year anniversary in Nashville (my first time!) and I'm so glad we stayed here. The house itself is dreamy. It's over 100 years old but Jim has kept it in pristine condition. The claw foot tub is so nice after a long day of exploring the city and the guest bed is extremely comfortable. Not to mention there's a "secret garden" and even an outdoor shower! Jim also printed a map of his favorite things to do around the neighborhood/city and I'm pretty sure we almost covered each and every restaurant or bar (all of the recommendations were excellent). We had the most wonderful time and I can't wait to get back and stay here again :) Thanks for everything, Jim!
Ps. The ever famous Barista Parlour is literally a stones throw from his front door. Which makes a daily visit (or two) very convenient ;)
Jim welcomed us and showed us around his place. He was very friendly and gave us time to settle down. He gave us some sightseeing and insider tips, which were really helpful.
The room and the bathroom as well were very clean. We had our own door to the porch so we had a lot of privacy. We felt very safe in this area and he's got a security system. All in all the house looks amazing.
Everywhere in the house you can find little sticky notes if you need anything or where you can find stuff or who to call or where to go in emergency situations or if you just got a question.
The house is close to downtown Nashville and everything you need is around.
He is a great host and open minded. I loved talking to him and would come back anytime :-)
About the Host, Jim
Hey there! I'm James and it's great to see that extra bedroom get used by some people getting to know Nashville. I'm one of those who came here for college never intending to make it home, but here I am--loving every minute of it. I think you'll be surprised how much you wind up liking this big small town too!
I teach Technical Theater (set design/lighting/sound) and love to go to shows even when I'm not working. (And yes, I get as excited about a great set change as I do about a fabulous solo.) I use my set building skills around the house too, so I'm always having ideas for how to improve the place. When the weather is nice, I'm grilling on the deck as much as possible or out for a hike. I like long walks on the beach and music. (Ok, this is starting to sound like eHarmony. I'll stop.)
