The Space

WELCOME to this little paradise for 100% non-smokers! Final price, no extras for Duplex garage, quickest internet and WLAN, not even cleaning.

Ulli speaks fluently GERMAN, ENGLISH, FRENCH and SPANISH, a littleCATALAN and ITALIAN (just a little ARAB and GREEK).

Public transport tickets (worth 21,30 Euros a day for two) are included, valid from 9 o'clock in the morning, weekend: all day.

5 MINUTES walk to U1 Rotkreuzplatz. From there, 4 minutes' ride to the central station by tube, from there, 3 minutes to Octoberfest.

A cozy little nest for bold color loving people. You will find an ambience in a sunny yellow that even in darkest rain days (rare in Munich, though) will make you feel comfortable and warm.

Its floor was chosen to best match this colour: best tropical, ecologically safe wooden parquet named Yatoba!

The comfy bed is made by LIGNE ROSET (140x200 cm).

An original ART DECO/ Art Nouveau cabinet holds everything you may need: CUTLERY, HOUSEHOLD DEVICES, pots, pans, dishes, can and bottle openers;-)), glasses.

Of course, TOWELS, satin or cotton SHEETS are provided!

An wonderfully designed TABLE with 2 chairs nestles in an unusual form. It will welcome you for breakfast - or would you rather sit on the terrace?

The KITCHENETTE with 2 hotplates, a fridge and a small oven admittedly do not compete with a 5 * kitchen, but still, you could easily cook a perfect dinner there?

The espresso or the latte macchiato after will be provided by the new red CAFISSIMO COFFEE MACHINE and has refillable capsules.

Flat screen TV and CABLE TV will provide you with 500 different programmes, it includes a DVD player. The RADIO is of rather mediocre quality, but it will still provide you day and night with the nicest oldies on frequency 105,3. A CD player will play your favourite CDs, in case you bring them. If
not, you can listen to classical piano music.

The large TERRACE (7 square meters) faces the garden which is well-kept, usually daily.

Small SHOWER BATHROOM with no windows, but a FAN. Bathroom showing the charms of the seventies.

Note that the garage is a Duplex and that your car should not exceed height of 1,50m to fit in?

Public laundry with do-it-yourself WASHING and DRYING for about 5E in total, in adjacent building.

Well-known department store KAUFHOF is right at the other exit of Rotkreuzplatz tube station.

Many SHOPS with highly original design products, galleries and popular restaurants are within eyesight.

NO BREAKFAST, as landlady lives at another place. Gorgeous tarts at famous bakery RUFFINI in Orffstr. 22-24 (beware: on Sundays, usually very long queues!) from 10.00 on (closed on Mondays). When closed, the adjacent restaurant
CAFE RUFFINI will sell their bakeries at the same price.

Legendary ice cream parlor SARCLETTI with +50 different flavours in the high season in Schulstr. 1 is pretty close, too: right at the other exit of Rotkreuzplatz tube station. Weekend waiting queues, too! (Closed between Christmas and mid-February)

Take-away Pizzeria FUN-PIZZA in Volkartstr. 11 sells a very, very good pizza for just 3 Euros (Pizza Margherita). Opening times: Sunday all day from 11 till 11pm, other days closed between 2pm and 5. They will sell you a magnificent bottle of red wine "Merlot" for just 5,50 Euros.

Restaurant ALEX at Rotkreuzplatz 8 is highly recommendable for its good-value-for-money
Schnitzels below 9 Euros.

As a dessert, try "Geburtstagsbecher", an ice-cream cup for a little under 7 Euros, with strawberry & rhubarb jam & lots of cream.

If you should like Sushi: Right in Volkartstreet, there is a place where Japanese meet (best recommendation, if the kins approve!) It is not
really very cheap, but in July, in the afternoons after 6, they have half prices!

If nobody should have booked before and after you, you can CHECK IN and CHECK OUT at any desired time. As soon as other bookings have been made, we'll need to coordinate with the other guests. This may lead to common check in/check out times: check in around 1 a.m. (later, even late at night, will be no problem at all, usually), check out at around 11.00. I hope this will be O.K. for you?

During Oktoberfest and trade fairs special prices.

Looking forward to maybe meeting you soon?

The neighbourhood is artistic. Wonderful buildings from 1900 with beautiful facades. Many, many shops with all sorts of original and /or crazy stuff. • If there's one thing warmer than Uli's choice of decor, it's her personality and hospitality as a host. She is a lovely, wonderful woman who goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and honoured to be both in her apartment and in Munich in general. Before you even get there, she goes into detail and at great length of all things to do and see in Munich and the surrounding area and makes sure that your visit there is a memorable one.

Equally, her place in downtown Munich is well-furnished, spotlessly clean, elegantly designed, and that coffee maker DOES make one of the best coffees you'll ever have. The place is quiet and peaceful and the neighbourhood feels very, very safe. All in all, this place is a welcoming and warm place to come home to (which is well-needed if you are like me and take the chance to explore a darker legacy of this beautiful metropolis to see the Dachau Concentration Camp).

In conclusion, if I'm ever in Munich again, Uli will be the first person that I'll contact to see if this place is available again.

  • The host was amazing. She picked us up and was just so friendly. The location was absolutely perfect and relaxing. Only a few stops from the center of Munich. The apartment itself is small but very well kept. I highly suggest.

  • Ulli was an awesome host during our time in Munich. So nice of her to meet us at the airport. Our plane was even delayed but she checked our flight status online and met us at a time later than planned. I would definitely recommend staying in her apartment. Ulli went out of her way to make things easy for us from meeting us at the airport to providing train passes to telling us all the things to do while in Munich.

  • Ulli is very nice, welcoming and friendly, she did her best to make our stay comfortable! She gave us recommendations on some places to eat and visit (we did see the surfers in the English Garden and even swam in the river there!) and left some tasty snacks and a bottle of wine!
The apartement is small but cozy, it was a bit loud for me because of the traffic as it was hot and we slept with an open balcony but me friend slept all right. The ticket passes saved us a lot of money and trouble figuring out what tickets we needed - thank you very much Ulli!

  • We had a great stay at this bright and fun apartment.

It was certainly cozy but there was enough room for my wife and I to be comfortable during the time we spent in Munich. The location of the apartment was perfect. A couple of minutes away from the station and from there the whole of Munich was at our disposal.

Uli was a great host. She met us at the train station when we arrived and had some great recommendations on places to see and things to do. The 'Fun Pizza' was great (we had it twice in three days)....and you just have to check out the river surfing!

You won't be creating any three course meals in the kitchenette, but it enough for some simple meals if you feel the need (we didn't... There was too much great and cheap food around in Munich).

All-In-All this is a great place to stay for two in a great area with a great host. Highly recommended.

  • After initial delay because of communication and external events, Uli made us welcome and provided us with information to aid us during our visit. The metro tickets were handy too . Parking was a challenge as our cae was too high for the available space.

  • Uli's place was certainly enough for my husband and me. It is a bright, cosy and lovely house! Neighbourhood was also a quiet and nice area. Because munich has a great transportations, the travel pass is so handy. Her place is easy to get to by subway.
Uli was a super nice host! She picked us up on early morning, we talked a lot, and she even took us to a free concert which tourists like is would never be able to find out. Also she is always willing to help us, and she searched how we can get tourists spots. We were simply amazed by her hospitality!
We like munich as well as we like Uli so much, so we will go back to her place when we get a chance to go back munich. I would recommend her place to anyone!

  • The flat is bright and cheerful. Overall, it's a very happy space, and Ulli was a brilliant host. She was very welcoming and full of useful information, including places to see and the best choices for cakes. She also welcomed us with a bottle of German wine, which was very nice.

I found the space a little small. I normally judge space based on how easy it is for me to get a yoga mat down. It WAS possible at a diagonal, but my partner wasn't able to maneuver around me as I did yoga.

Many of the sites of interest are in other parts of the city, so the metro pass provided came in very handy!

Overall, we had a nice stay, and we definitely managed to follow the main house rule: "enjoy yourself".

  • Uli was very friendly and helpful with where to go and every other possibly thing we needed to know. We were travelling by car, so the free parking and public transit tickets were a huge bonus. As we were a couple, the private space with kitchen and bathroom were perfect for us.

  • Host Ulli was excellent at communication and providing information, both regarding the flat and regarding Munich. The flat was an excellent base for a stay in Munich - situated in a very pleasant and interesting part of the city. The city travel passes that Ulli provides were a real bonus - thanks Ulli. We had a great time in a wonderful city.

Looking forward to meeting you! I've always found that people who travel are far more relaxed and unconventional than others, more flexible, more open-minded and understanding. As travellers are usually curious about other ways of living, it is more interesting to talk to them than talking to people who think they know all about Life - and stay at home all the time...? (All these prejudices being confirmed each & every day... ;-))))) I love hosting airbnb guests. There is almost nothing in this world I would change it for. And I love to share all the very beautiful things about Munich, communicating about what not to miss when and where, preferably the non-commercial ones! Plus the things which tourists worlwide consider not to be missed, as well culturally as culinarily? Some of this information about semi-private locations cannot be found in any official guides. I will tell you my thoughts about the very, very dark times in the Munich history, too - if you should be interested in hearing about them? A few guests came several times, already, even friendship arose. Isn't that wonderful? Thank you, airbnb! GREAT YOU EXIST! I was a psychologist before retiring and have always been an artist, too. Apart from Spain I spent some time in London, Paris, Berne and Hamburg, so I speak more than just Spanish - in fact I speak their languages rather fluently. There is one thing I learnt from the Germans, and now, I have come to even LOVE it: They will never be "polite", but tell you straight forward what they like and what they don't approve of. After living for so long in Germany, I can only say: This makes life so very easy! There is a proverb, saying: In Rome, do as the Romans do. So please be "GERMANS" while you are here and PLEASE don't rely on me being clairvoyant, will you? Tell me straightaway what you want changed or don't like. Most things can be changed really easily. Please do tell me, too, ASAP, if sth in my description was not right, exaggerated or outdated - or if I forgot to mention sth? I keep doing my very best to improve all the time - but for becoming as good as I can, I need your help: Tell me WHAT to improve, please, will you? I simply want my overall 5 star rating back which I was keeping for so long until I needed to go home for three weeks. Would you please help me getting them back? It might be easy if you TOLD ME (even before telling airbnb, please, as air would never inform me about what to improve, I'm afraid...?). THANK YOU! Ulli PS: Ever since reading the Catcher in the Rye by Salinger, I have tried not to be phoney, but authentic, and of course, I love authentic behaviour in others, too! Please do behave exactly how you feel, when we talk. You need not smile when you are exhausted after a long flight. On the contrary! People who will constantly smile with just their mouths, but not with their eyes, will make me freeze...?
