Cute and colorful Boerum Hill Apt.

Apartment - Private room · Dean St, Brooklyn, NY 11217, United States

The Space

Cute, colorful and centrally located Brooklyn apartment on a tree lined street. Large living/dining room. Guest room sleeps one. Plenty of sunshine. Shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. Close to practically all New York City subway lines. One block away from the restaurants and boutiques on Smith Street and 2 blocks from the antique stores of Atlantic Avenue.

Boerum Hill has become one of the go to neighborhoods in New York City. It's residents range from movie actors to acclaimed writers and musicians. It's snugly located between Park Slope, Downtown Brooklyn, Cobble Hill and Carrol Gardens. As a result the best of Brooklyn is footsteps away as are a variety of cultural journeys. We're close to practically every subway line in New York which means that you can zip into Manhattan quickly. In fact you could get to Lower Manhattan by foot across the Brooklyn Bridge in less than 40 minutes (it's well worth the walk as the views are tremendous). While the area has become gentrified some of the old neighborhood staples are still intact, including great butchers and bakeries. Even the more trendy shops have a nice neighborhood feel as many of them are run by young entrepreneurs.

This is my residence so you will be sharing the space with me. You will find my apartment is very much a reflection of who I am and where I have been. I hope you feel comfortable here.

It's a great little spot if you're visiting New York as a tourist or to visit family and friends. I've lived in the city long enough to know some inside ins and outs.

  • I could not have hoped for a better home base for my first NYC experience than Priya's apartment and hospitality. From my initial contact during the booking process then throughout my month long stay, Priya was constantly available to contact, continuously helpful and generous with advice. Ideal location to taste day-to-day life in wondrous Brooklyn while having the excitement that is Manhattan either a short subway ride or spectacular walk/run across the Brooklyn Bridge away.

HIghly, highly recommended, I'll be back as soon as possible.

  • The location in the midst of Boerum Hill is very convenient to shops and restaurants. The apartment is on a quiet (for Brooklyn) entirely residential street of historic row houses, in a neighborhood of same. The hostess is exceptionally gracious and helpful. The bed and apartment were very comfortable. I would happily stay there again.

  • I cannot say enough nice things about Priya. She was wonderfully accommodating, fun, smart, etc and her place is absolutely lovely in a wonderful neighborhood. I would highly recommend staying here if you are stopping through New York.

  • We spent a wonderful week at Priya's place. She was very kind with us and shared some of New York's secrets. She was definitely the best host we could have, would recommend it to everyone! Oh and the place is very well connected by subway, you'll be in the center of Manhattan in 10-15min.

  • The night before flying from SF to NYC, our plans to stay with a friend fell through. At 11pm, I searched AirBnB and found Priya's Boerum Hill apartment. We originally looked at it because it was the cheapest, considering we planned to stay with a friend for free. Priya responded that night several times, answering numerous questions and we locked the booking.

Upon arriving, Priya greeted us with all sorts of maps and booklets about NYC. She made my fiance tea and immediately had us feeling right at home. We stayed in her master bedroom, but spent most of our time apartment hunting. Her place is in a great part of town, a short walk from Smith St, which is lined with wonderful restaurants. Best part, the subway is just two blocks away. If you need to stay in Brooklyn, go with Priya.

  • The location of the house is very good, either from the Airport and to go to Manhattan, just 2 minutes walking from the nearest Metro station.
    Priya is a perfect host.
    I strongly recommend this option.

  • Priya was a great host. She is a very nice and interesting woman. She gave me advice about places, food, metro, etc. We enjoyed talking sometimes, other times we had our own space and time.

  • I spent a month with Priya, Astor and Pepper and it was a great experience that passed by much too fast. The three of them did a lot to make my stay with them very special Priya gave me a lot of ideas where to go and what to do and we had interesting conversations. Astor and Pepper were very eager to entertain me and keep me busy. I really miss them. Priya's apartment is nicely designed, the room is small but cosy and the bed is comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped. Boerum Hill is an amazing neighborhood and there is a lot to see and explore within walking distance. Smith Street, just around the corner is full of restaurants, cafés and shops. Subway connections could hardly be better. I was sad to leave and highly recommend staying with Priya.

Independent Producer, Manager of a Yoga Studio
I'm an Independent Producer living in Brooklyn New York in her late 30s. I'm originally from India but I never lived there. I grew up in countries A to Z, A was Algeria, Z was Zimbabwe, the ones in between were Tunisia, Portugal, Mexico and of course the U.S. My interests are varied, I worked in news radio for many years so I am well read. I have a good sense of humor and love reading, specifically contemporary fiction. I also love to cook and generally cook western food, but at times I have been known to make a curry. I live in Boerum Hill Brooklyn and have been here for 10 years. I love it. My apartment is very much a reflection of me as a person, there are some loud colors but also some quite spaces. A lot of the art and trinkets are from the places I have lived and traveled through. I have been traveling since I was three months old and it's almost second nature to me. I actually like airplane meals (well the hot meals, not the cold sandwiches made out of soggy bread). I didn't go backpacking in my teens and twenties but discovered it two years ago when I traveled through Vietnam and Cambodia, which was such a great experience! I have never been to South America or Australasia but I am very keen to go in the future. And as for all the other continents and countries I've been to I owe them another visit. Because of my experiences as a traveler I make a good host. I can be helpful for all sorts of advice and odd facts. My skills as a producer are really useful in real world situations, I am quick with ideas and creative problem solving. You'll also find that I am very patient. I am not the only resident of this apartment. I share it with two cats, Astor and Pepper. They are both friendly and shy, depending on how their mood strikes them at the moment you come in the door.
