Cute, colorful and centrally located Brooklyn apartment on a tree lined street. Large living/dining room. Guest room sleeps one. Plenty of sunshine. Shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. Close to practically all New York City subway lines. One block away from the restaurants and boutiques on Smith Street and 2 blocks from the antique stores of Atlantic Avenue.
Boerum Hill has become one of the go to neighborhoods in New York City. It's residents range from movie actors to acclaimed writers and musicians. It's snugly located between Park Slope, Downtown Brooklyn, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens. As a result the best of Brooklyn is footsteps away as are a variety of cultural journeys. We're close to practically every subway line in New York which means that you can zip into Manhattan quickly. In fact you could get to Lower Manhattan by foot across the Brooklyn Bridge in less than 40 minutes (it's well worth the walk as the views are tremendous). While the area has become gentrified some of the old neighborhood staples are still intact, including great butchers and bakeries. Even the more trendy shops have a nice neighborhood feel as many of them are run by young entrepreneurs.
This is my residence so you will be sharing the space with me. You will find my apartment is very much a reflection of who I am and where I have been. I hope you feel comfortable here.
It's a great little spot if you're visiting New York as a tourist or to visit family and friends. I've lived in the city long enough to know some inside ins and outs.
Shared kitchen and bathroom. Access to all kitchen appliances, including washer/dryer and dishwasher. Living room comes with a fully functional fireplace.
Please remove shoes in the house to limit city grime indoors.
I really enjoyed my stay with Priya—she was a great host, and couldn’t have been more welcoming (as were Pepper and Astor!). The apartment has a really nice feel to it, and it’s perfectly situated for exploring both Brooklyn and Manhattan. Highly recommended!
If you are thinking about going to NY, don’t think it twice, this is YOUR place. I was there for 2 months and a half, and I can assure you that if I ever go back to NY, I will give a call to Priya to stay in her beautiful home.
First of all, Boerum Hill is a perfect place to live, not only because it’s next to the Brooklyn Bridge, one of my favourite spots from NY, but also because almost all subway lines are next to Priya’s. You can reach Manhattan in less than 10 minutes.
And the most important thing is that once you get there Priya tries to do everything possible to make you feel at home, she is the perfect host, and Pepper and Astor ( her cats) are just adorable.
I could not have hoped for a better home base for my first NYC experience than Priya's apartment and hospitality. From my initial contact during the booking process then throughout my month long stay, Priya was constantly available to contact, continuously helpful and generous with advice. Ideal location to taste day-to-day life in wondrous Brooklyn while having the excitement that is Manhattan either a short subway ride or spectacular walk/run across the Brooklyn Bridge away.
HIghly, highly recommended, I'll be back as soon as possible.
The location of the house is very good, either from the Airport and to go to Manhattan, just 2 minutes walking from the nearest Metro station.
Priya is a perfect host.
I strongly recommend this option.
Priya was a great host. She is a very nice and interesting woman. She gave me advice about places, food, metro, etc. We enjoyed talking sometimes, other times we had our own space and time.
I'm an Independent Producer living in Brooklyn New York in her late 30s. I'm originally from India but I never lived there. I grew up in countries A to Z, A was Algeria, Z was Zimbabwe, the ones in between were Tunisia, Portugal, Mexico and of course the U.S.
My interests are varied, I worked in news radio for many years so I am well read. I have a good sense of humor and love reading, specifically contemporary fiction. I also love to cook and generally cook western food, but at times I have been known to make a curry.
I live in Boerum Hill Brooklyn and have been here for 12 years. I love it. My apartment is very much a reflection of me as a person, there are some loud colors but also some quite spaces. A lot of the art and trinkets are from the places I have lived and traveled through.
I have been traveling since I was three months old and it's almost second nature to me. I actually like airplane meals (well the hot meals, not the cold sandwiches made out of soggy bread). I didn't go backpacking in my teens and twenties but discovered it five years ago when I traveled through Vietnam and Cambodia, which was such a great experience! I have never been to South America or Australasia but I am very keen to go in the future. And as for all the other continents and countries I've been to I owe them another visit.
Because of my experiences as a traveler I make a good host. I can be helpful for all sorts of advice and odd facts. My skills as a producer are really useful in real world situations, I am quick with ideas and creative problem solving. You'll also find that I am very patient.
I am not the only resident of this apartment. I share it with my cat Astor, who is a little shy at first and then very friendly.
