My experience at this place was good, with some caveats. While Tim was very outgoing and very accommodating, it was also difficult to get work done, given that I ended up on the couch in the living room of one of the houses. There isn’t a couch advertised and I was only informed about it from communications with Tim. It was the only option left there and the price was the same as a room. My trip was very last-minute, and this was the last cheap option anywhere close to the convention center. I’m a Couchsurfing member and am very used to couches (but not used to paying for them). There are no photos of couches in any of Tim’s ads. But I was very glad there was *something* that didn’t involve a long transit to downtown. Given that one other guest liked to talk and was an admitted insomniac (and even ordered a pizza at midnight one night), we were up until 2 am two nights in a row. Other guests were up at 6 am, so I didn’t get much sleep those first two nights. As well, Tim’s dog and cats also wanted attention, so that was a factor. But I love animals, so it was nice, too. But in this case, I really needed to sleep and get some work done. And I didn’t want to be rude. If I was in a room, everything would have been very different. But because I knew I had a lot to do, because of why I was there, I had chosen Airbnb to get a private room, instead of a couch. But I ended up stuck because I decided to go to Atlanta very last-minute. So Tim’s couch was all that was left, within the budget. This was very much like a Couchsurfing experience… fellow CSers will know what I mean. I was pleased to meet one other guest and also pleased to meet Tim. Tim was extremely accommodating and drove me to the train one day and to the post office another. He even waited at the post office to take me to another section of town for a meeting. And he gave lots of good advice on getting around and places to eat, which was very helpful. Other reviewers have mentioned the neighborhood. I thought it was great. It was quiet in general and a doable walk (less than two miles) into the main shopping area of this section of town (West End?). It’s only two stops on the train into downtown ($2.50/ride at this writing) or, if one chooses to use Uber, it’s a short ride (maybe around $6 at this writing). Had I had time, I would have been pleased to meet some of the neighbors. All in all, I got done what I needed to and couldn’t have done it within my budget without Tim’s place. I would definitely use this place again (but would book early enough to get a room!).

Tim was very friendly and we even kept in touch after my visit. He made me feel very welcome. I took a liking to one of his cats who seemed to be attached to me after I started petting her regularly haha. The only downside of my stay was the Marta station train that seemed to 'honk' every 5-10 minutes which made it hard to get adequate rest without drowning it out with some other nature sounds on my laptop. Also Tim went out of town for a few days while I was there so I had a slight sense of insecurity coming and going without knowing anyone there or in the neighborhood that I 'knew'. The room was clean, neat and comfy.

I am a very relaxed and easygoing and open minded guy looking to host people and make new friends around the world. I have always wanted to work in the hospitality industry since I was a kid it was a dream of mine to own my own b&b. I lived in my home on Tift Ave for almost 15 years. I have hosted many friends and travelers from around the world in my historic home. Now that I found out about AirBNB, I am opening my home to you. I now have five properties close to downtown Atlanta three in historic Capital View neighborhood and two in Historic Adair Park neighborhood. they are both very close to downtown and walking distance from the marta train station and bus stops so Its very easy to get around the city without the need for a car. Several of the homes also can be booked entirely for larger groups.I also have many hostel spaces available great for travelers on a budget. I have male and female dorms. I love to share travel stories drink good wine and eat good food. I like almost anything as far as food goes and red and white white alike as well as a good beer. I really don't have any major rules just be a polite guest as I will be a great host and even show you around if you need me to. I also love the outdoors and know some great places to hike in Atlanta. I also love to cook, drink wine or beers and eat good food and have a Nice large kitchen for you to make yourself at home in as well as each house has a great private backyard and fire pit and large front porches, I live on Tift Ave has 4 outdoor cats and a small dog Alvin you will love. My other properties do not have any animals unless a guest happens to have one.
