  • Mahi Oli'Oli is a really cute - off the grid - house below the town of Pohoa - which we really loved! The house is great, it comes with a lot of detailed instructions that are super helpful - like don't be afraid to shoo the turkeys off the deck - and the property was beautiful! We saw lots of amazing wildlife and the location was super close to some great snorkeling and really cool beaches. The town of Pohoa is small, but boasts a few reasonable and delicious restaurants and a really great organic grocery store!

    Loved our stay here!

  • Great place just as the photos show.
The location is also much better than I expected, you have one of the best snorkeling of the island, hot natural pools and many cute restaurants in a 4 miles range.
Bring earplug for frogs during the night.

  • In the middle of a tropical paradise sits this unexpected jewel.
It is a charming and magical retreat that awakens your senses
to the beauty and aloha that is Hawaii.
Bob and Andy could not have been more welcoming, considerate,
and helpful. We adore it here and can't wait to return. B & J

  • If you are looking for the perfect hide away or a true lovers nest on Big Islands green Southeast cost this is definitely the place to go. Made of carefully selected wood types, this perfectly equipped house sits in a huge tropical garden, overlooking the ocean. It is definitely off the beaten track and invites you with its huge lanai to spend some days in quiet comfort. The only thing you need is a car to get there and to organize the daily supplies in the nearby markets. Reservation, the communication and the check-in procedure were smooth and professional...

  • Mahi Oli'Oli was a perfect piece of paradise for our honeymoon in Hawaii. The house and garden were gorgeous, tranquil, and well-maintained. The view was beautiful and perfect for enjoying the sunrise. We enjoyed our mornings spent eating breakfast on the lanai with the geckos. Great stars and frog chorus in the evenings as well. We would happily stay again and highly recommend Mahi Oil'Oli. Robert was super friendly and provided a ton of useful links and suggestions. We were happy with the location as a good base for exploring all parts of the island, particularly volcano national park. The town of Pahoa was cute and has many food options, Longs drugs, markets, banks, and a new bakery.

  • What an amazing place to stay! My wife and I stayed at Mahi Oli'Oli for our honeymoon and could not have loved it any more than we did. The location is very secluded and surrounded by nature. The cottage looks great, and the new star deck was an added bonus that we were not expecting. Definitely a wonderful place to stay if you're trying to get away from the tourist/commercial part of Hawaii.

  • The ultimate Hawaiian paradise! The pictures, descriptions, and reviews are SPOT ON! We spent our 10th wedding anniversary at Mahi Oli'Oli. 9 days we will remember forever! The East side of the Big Island is a lush, gorgeous, peaceful, quiet rainforest. Mahi Oli'Oli is close to so many wonderful things: Champagne Ponds, Kapoho Tide Pools, Kaimu New Black Sand Beach, Volcano National Park, Pu'u O'o Vent, etc. The guys really outdid themselves with the concept and design of the entire property. Gorgeous landscaping, sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, and most of all the most calm, serene, clean, and wonderful cottage perched on top of their 6 acre property. We fell in love with Pahoa and cannot wait to return. We will definitely stay at Mahi Oli'Oli again and suggest this wonderful place to any and all friends who have thoughts of visiting the Big Island!

  • Our stay at Mahi Oli'Oli was truly wonderful. The location is incredibly serene, gorgeous and secluded. Really the perfect way to relax and enjoy the southern part of the island in peace -- great access to the volcanoes, Hilo, beaches and tidepools. The place itself has everything you could dream of needing: an amazing indoor/outdoor shower, lovely kitchen, and beautiful eucalyptus floors milled on the island that make it smell like a spa. We went to sleep to the symphony of birds and frogs and awoke to find wild turkeys, hogs and all kinds of other island life. We were actually greeted by 8 lucky turkeys on the morning of Thanksgiving. The porch and separate lanai are wonderful to lounge on, and Andy and Bob have planted a gorgeous tropical garden that surrounds the property. It was tough to leave, and I hope we are able to visit again before too long!
