Puna district's natural beauty is the setting for our home. Washed by trade winds you'll dine on the lanai & lounge on the sun/star deck in peace and freedom from bugs. Morning seaview is a 3 acre wide sunrise. Zillions of stars at night!

Response from Robert A:

We're grateful the the unassuming, quiet courage Daniel demonstrated during his stay. Lava was flowing toward Pahoa, 5 miles upslope, not a threat to mahi Oli'Oli, but nevertheless a serious concern for us and for him. He evaluated the risk using on-line information and reports we passed on to our guests from our caretaker and from friends nearby in the Puna District of The Big Island. We have taken his suggestion seriously and have ordered a case of soft earplugs for our guests. I, personally, enjoy the soothing night sounds of crickets, wind&rain on our bamboo grove, and low rumble of the distant surf. Occaionally one intrepid coqui frog gets into the vegetation surrounding the house. I turn on the garden hose full force and subdue the little bas*ard. They are fine at a distance but can be maddening when up close. If you want to be in tropical rain forest, this is part of the story. Best regards to you Daniel. May you continue to travel and explore our wonderful planet.
Aloha,
Bob & Andy

Response from Robert A:

This Family gets our "Purple Heart" for rental guests. Their courage, sense of adventure, and grace not only weathered the direct hit of Hurricane Iselle, when we climbed through the jungle of downed trees, we found them in good spirits and like good pioneer troopers taught us a thing or two about how to use the cottage during a storm. We are ecstatic to know that our carefully designed tropical home performed just as we had hope during a severe tropical storm.
