The Space

Come and stay at our wonderful "Dolphinsong" cottage on the gorgeous southeast coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. Just across from beautiful world-famous Kehena black sand beach, where the dolphins play and the humpback whales give birth in the winter months. Where the rainbows are aplenty, and the stars glitter in one of the darkest skies on the planet. This is truly a magical part of the Big Island that most people miss! The cottage has all you'll need for a wonderful, relaxing holiday. Queen-sized bed, linens, kitchen area with small fridge, double sink, dishes, pots, coffee press, perculator, toaster, blender, 2 burner stove, cooler, snorkel gear, beach towels, flat screen t.v. for watching dvd's, more than 50 dvd movies to watch, Hawaiiana books to read, and a private telephone with free calls on the island. The phone also connects to our main house, should you need our service. There is a very private, attached, hot water outdoor shower, and an indoor bathroom with toilet and sink. Washer and dryer are available. We are very attentive hosts, and our main house is on the other end of the half-acre. We're always there if you need us, but we respect your private vacation time, and you won't see us unless you need us! We can answer any questions you may have about where to go, what to see, etc... We are located just off of the historical Red Road which meanders along this breathtaking coast with it's awesome ocean views. The cottage is 20 minutes from Pahoa town, 45 from Hilo, and 55 from Volcano National Park. Just 4 miles down the road is a cafe and a small general store. On Wednesdays there is a wonderful nighttime farmer's market, with free live entertainment! When the lava is flowing, it's just a few miles from the cottage, making our place one of the best places to base yourselves for lava viewing! 2 persons maximum. No pets, please. We hope to have the opportunity to be your hosts! Mahalo! Seneca and Jeff at Dolphinsong cottage.

  • Super cute cottage in a very chill spot in Puna. Had a great time, location super close to incredible beaches, snorkeling, lava fields, everything you want down the bottom of the Big island! The propane stove and hot water worked great, comfy bed, everything you could want in a compact package. Table outside makes for a spacious feeling, hedge blocking the main house give you great privacy.

  • We loved this place.....a sweet little cabin that feels like you're outdoors. Jeff and Seneca were very welcoming and helpful. Kalapana was our favorite part of the island, and this place is situated well - nestled into a neighborhood just a few miles down the road from the night farmer's market in Kaimu, as well as the Ahalanui hot pool and Kapoho tide pools. I hope we can return and stay here again.

  • I loved staying here and even extended my visit a few days. This is a cozy cottage on the Pahoa side of the island, with many places to explore nearby or farther out. There's a wonderful sense of outdoor living, with many screened windows open to the great breeze and night sounds, but with all the comforts of a kitchen area, comfy bed, bath, and even DVD player. Seneca's beautiful stained glass and many handcrafted touches make it even more special. You have a great outdoor shower and garden sitting area, all very private. Seneca and Jeff are very friendly and helpful but give you plenty of privacy as needed. A magical place!

  • Amazing little cottage built by amazing artists with their own hands. Gorgeous stained glass windows made on site adorn the premises, casting rainbows of light everywhere. Jeff and Seneca are inspirational powerhouses, generous hosts, and talented artists. They have amazing life stories that are a testament to what is possible and how to live simply and FULLY in our short time on this gorgeous earth. The cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay, surrounded by lava fields, crashing surf at the beach minutes away, and mind blowing rainforest. Coqui frogs serenade you at night, while choruses of birds awake you in the morning. But in all truthfulness Curly the cat and PJ the dog are the real gems here. Make sure to seek them out for an encounter if you stay here. Wonderful spirits all of them!

  • Had a great stay at Senea and Jeff's. They were very helpful with where to go and what to see. The cottage was cozy and beautiful, with the beautiful landscape giving us much privacy and great hapbitat for the frogs and birds of the island. Great to have their amazing stained glass casting light and color into the cottage.

  • Staying at Dolphinsong Cottage was absolutely the best part of our trip to the Big Island. After staying part of the time elsewhere for a retreat event, we came back for a few more days. I told Jeff we were so glad to be "home" again. I felt so much peace here, sweet and magical, beautiful energy here..just what we needed. Thank you so much Jeff and Seneca for welcoming us, and sharing this perfect place in paradise. We'll be back soon, and hope to stay a little longer! December 2013

Hi; We are a married couple in our 50's. We love meeting people from different places. We will leave you alone while you are on your vacation, or we can help you while you are here. It's up to you. We are travelers ourselves, and have been to many places. We love living in Hawaii with our gorgeous ocean view and perfect weather! We are both stained glass artists, and have a little studio on the property. Both of our cottages have stained glass windows in them for you to enjoy. We hope to have the pleasure of being your hosts!
