La Casa del Mango is set in a tropical garden with the three floors rising up in wood and glass to rooftop sundecks with views to the Talamancan mountains and the Caribbean sea. Swimming pool, fully equipped kitchen, outside/inside living spaces.
The house is surrounded by nature and guests sleep, lulled by the sound of the waves on Black Beach and awaken to birdsong and the eerie sounds of the howler monkeys. The airy and spacious interior is carefully decorated to be both stylish and comfortable with the outside/inside living and dining areas, allowing guests to relax and find peace and tranquility. The tropical garden is full of color and scent with the dawn and dusk filled with the aroma of the ylang ylang trees. Guests can swing in a hammock on their private balcony, enjoy the ocean and mountain panorama from the sundecks on top of the house, share a massage in the glass sided massage room overlooking treetops, sunbathe poolside or watch iguanas, tree frogs and toucans in the garden.
Guests have access to the pool, sundecks, tropical garden, massage room, fully equipped kitchen, living room with cable TV, inside/outside living and dining areas, parking and laundry service.
Interaction with Guests
A member of staff is in a separate apartment night and day to provide security and assistance. We are always happy to answer guests' questions and to help with reservations and tours. Discretion is assured for guest privacy and comfort.
The house is in the small beach town of Cahuita within a minute's walk of the ocean and is located in a quiet, friendly neighborhood. The town center is a ten minute walk away and the national park is just another 5 minute's from there.
Buses to the other south Caribbean beaches and back to San Jose, can be caught on the main road which is five minutes walk away or from the bus terminal in the town center. Taxis are cheap and readily available.
No smoking in the house. Smoking is permitted on the pool deck only. Loud noise or music are not permitted after 10:00 p.m. No pets are allowed. We ask guests not to wear outside shoes through the house as the wooden floor is quickly damaged. We ask that guests treat the house the same way that would treat their own home.
Sara and Nando are a British/Costa Rican couple who chose Cahuita as the place to raise their four children and to live a life away from the hustle and bustle of city life. They enjoy beach time with the family and the outdoor life that the south Caribbean offers. We have traveled on different budgets across Europe, north Africa and America, but always look for accommodation that is clean, safe, comfortable and welcoming.
