Interaction with Guests
We are happy to assist you (as much or as little as you like) with travel information during your stay, from the best dining options to cool out-of-the-way and authentically Maine destinations.
1 block from all Maine Street shops and restaurants, 5-10 minute walk to Amtrak and all Bowdoin College attractions. We are situated in the historic Brunswick Northwest Neighborhood where you can stroll among the stately homes built in the mid to late 1800's, many with beautiful grounds and gardens. Quick access to the Androscoggin River walking/biking trail as well.
There is a public transit bus stop directly across the street. Good supermarket and Brunswick Transportation Center (with bus and train connections) are a five minute walk away. Freeport is 10 minutes south by car, Portland 20, and Brunswick is situated at the entry to the coastal route north for Bath, Wiscasset, Boothbay Harbor, Rockland and all destinations beyond.
Other Things to Note
In the summer/fall, there is an excellent farmer's market on the Brunswick Mall downtown. Off season, a popular "winter market" is held on weekends in the refurbished Cabot Mill (10 minute walk). Brunswick has two art movie houses, one in the mill and one downtown, as well as a multiplex theater 2 miles away at the Cook's Corner Mall. The very fine Bowdoin Museum of Art is open year-round and free of charge. In the summer, the Maine State Music Theatre and Bowdoin International Music Festival present first-rate popular and classical entertainment.
Absolutely no smoking, no pets. IMPORTANT: Please make every effort to plan your arrival in Brunswick between 2-8 pm. However, with adequate advance notice, we are happy to provide earlier check-in (when possible), as well as after-hours self-access.
Really a splendid experience! Very comfortable rooms located just two blocks from Brunswick's downtown. Very convenient. Martin was a welcoming host and readily available for adjustments needed. I'm particularly glad I insisted on meeting Gracie, his small white terrier! Thanks, Martin. Looking forward to another visit!!
I was in Brunswick for a weekend meditation class. Martin's apartment was located just two short blocks away from the Main Street -- easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and my class. It was wonderful to have breakfast items like yogurt and cereals supplied in the kitchen, along with coffee, sugar and milk.
Martin and Henry were incredible hosts, going above and beyond. My apartment was charming, tidy, and warm. Breakfast foods were available and tasty. I needed to warm some briskets for tailgating. They helped me by providing a warmer to keep the meat warm. Both hosts are personable and fun.
This sunny pied-à-terre was just perfect. As our first airbnb experience it exceeded expectations in all ways. The neighborhood, the apartment, and the host were all charming. The apartment was comfortably laid out and well-provisioned. The welcome bottle of wine and snacks were a generous surprise. The host was available to answer questions and orient us to the area. The location, walking distance to town, made this an ideal spot for our visit. We highly recommend!
Martin was an incredible host. My friend and I couldn't have asked for a better Airbnb experience. This was my first time with Airbnb and thanks to Martin, it won't be my last as he set the bar very high. The property was very well - kept, comfortable and homey. They provided all the amenities we needed, including continental breakfast and chocolate (a nice bonus).
Martin greeted us warmly including chocolates and a stocked fridge. We stayed in the old converted stables which are roomy, clean, charming and have all needed conveniences. The home is within walking distance to all of Brunswick's charm.
I'm looking forward to our next visit.
Martin was an excellent and friendly host! He was very flexible with my arrival time and offered to pick me up from the train station (which I didn't need) and at the end of my stay, gave me a lift to said station without my asking as it was pouring buckets. He was helpful in answering my questions about Brunswick and where essential shops were located.
The place was very clean and totally private. It's an apartment unit unto itself (with full kitchen!). Fresh clean linens and towels, and brekkie fixings to boot! It's a leisurely 10 minute stroll (or 6 if you're a power walker) to the train/bus station and the business corridor. I hear this place is very popular with college students and their families, and I can see why, as it's a home away from home. The place and area are full of new England charm.
Thank you Martin!

I am a professional classical musician and my husband Henry works as a manager at Bowdoin College. We are former restaurant owners here in Brunswick and can give you excellent guidance with dining and recreation options in the region.
