  • I loved staying in this apartment in this neighborhood. The accommodations were very comfortable and cozy. The view from the bedroom is magnificent! I was able to easily travel to locations all over the city from this central location. I overlapped briefly with Shaker and Amy and they were very cordial. The bed was very comfortable. It is a lot of stairs and there is no bathroom on the same level as the bedroom. If you have bad knees or a weak bladder, this is not for you!

  • This is the second time I stayed with Shaker and woukd do it every time I'm in Minneapolis. Great host, place is just as if not better than described. Very private and super clean, he even leaves a couple (maybe more if you're a decent returning guest) chocolates on your bed!

  • Thanks to Shaker for hosting us in the gorgeous George R. Newell house, and indulging us recording a podcast in his living room on Saturday afternoon (If the mystery of what that 'intense conversation' was going on in the corner, there you go...). We had no real troubles, and it was a treat to be able to walk everywhere downtown in the area right from the doorstep.

Also, props to the large Vinyl collection which we took advantage of in the quieter moments of our stay.

  • Shaker's place is the BEST: gorgeously furnished, cozy, and inviting. He takes care of his guests even if you don't get a chance to meet him. His neighborhood is fun, lively, and dotted with great cafes and restaurants. Would definitely recommend him and his place!

  • This was our first time staying with an Airbnb host. Shaker was a great host- friendly, helpful and sent us to a wonderful restaurant for dinner, and made us feel at home. The room was clean and cozy with a great view of the city. The historic mansion is a really cool place to stay!

  • Shaker & his girlfriend were super nice & down to earth. They went above & beyond with helping me get around the city. Fantastic house with private little attic bedroom. It was fun to look out over the city as the sun set. The shower was very euro style but it was fine. If you are looking for a relaxed but full if character place to stay in Minneapolis, I would recommend for sure. It is a shared bathroom so you have to be okay with that. Also you must be able to walk up several flights of stairs.

  • This house was definitely pretty cool-the woodwork throughout the house and common areas downstairs was beautiful, and just getting to the room was a small adventure. The living areas were spacious, the vinyl collection kept us busy, and the bed was comfortable with a neat view from the crow's nest. It's a great nook for reading, internet surfing, or vegetating on a cold winter's day. Oh, and we did help ourselves to a little of that great coffee-thanks, Shaker!

  • First ABB experience. Location is excellent and room is spacious. Great views. Met Shaker briefly, was friendly, polite and welcoming.

  • I absolutely loved my time at Shaker's home. I was working on my goals for the year, and was really looking for a quiet, comfortable place to focus, and this room was perfect!

The bed was quite comfortable, the room was both incredibly cozy and had beautiful high ceilings, and the view was absolutely incredible. It was such an inspiring place to work! I just set my chair where I could see the whole of the city skyline, and I got so much done. I know others have mentioned this, but a caveat - I hadn't quite calculated the number of stairs 3 flights in a building with high ceilings was in my head. It was more than worth it for the view, but for someone less agile the 3 flights of stairs would likely be a problem.

Shaker was fantastic to work with! He was great at communication, answered quickly, and made this airbnb newbie feel very comfortable and confident. His apartment is nicely decorated, and his decor and books imply he must be a fascinating person to talk to. I was unfortunately too busy to chat, but it was great to meet him.

Another thing people have mentioned is cold. I was there on an early March day with a 141-year historic low, and I was glad to have an extra pair of socks to layer, but in general the space heater did a good job and the room was quite comfortable for a MN winter.

This place was beautiful, comfortable, and inspiring. I would go back in a heartbeat! Thanks for a great introduction to airbnb!

  • Super responsive, clean place, and fantastic view of the Minneapolis skyline. Bathroom is downstairs which can be a bummer in the middle of the night. Otherwise, recommended.

Im a recent graduate from the University of Minnesota and work in the non-profit, urban planning field. I love the idea of collaborative consumption and business like airbnb. I have traveled quite a bit and enjoy exchanging stories of adventure. Every guest I've had has had some interesting, new knowledge to share with me. One of the reasons why I get so much out of these experiences.
