One of Hobart’s oldest and most historic areas, Battery Point stands as one of the most authentic ways to step back in time. Buildings made of sandstone have stood since very near the community’s founding. It is famed as one of the more exclusive areas and has a number of large, well built homes, apartments, and even historical cottages. Connected to Salamanca by Kelly’s Steps, constructed back in the 1830′s out of massive sandstone blocks, Battery Point is on of those places that needs to taken in on foot to really get a good feel for the place.
Salamanca Place has 24 hour taxi ramps. The Red Double Decker sightseeing bus takes in Battery Point and Hobart points of interest. Metro bus services are close by and the Airport Bus runs to the airport. Ferries and river taxis depart from nearby Sullivan's Cove. It's a short walk to the city centre, Sandy Bay and the University.

Ellerslie Cottage was set up beautifully with comfortable beds, good bed linen and a thoughtfully provisioned kitchen. It was really well located and we managed to walk everywhere during our 3-day stay - including down the picturesque Hobart Rivulet. Just 5 minutes up the hill from the Salamanca Markets and great little restaurants. We'd definitely choose Ellerslie Cottage for a second stay and recommend it to our friends.
Kelly was a fantastic host! She made us all feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived (cheese, bread, fruit and wine left in the kitchen when we checked in).
The accommodation itself was clean, comfortable and in a great location. I would stay here again if I ever return to Hobart.
Communication with Kelly was a breeze - she was there to welcome us and then available via phone or email if we needed anything. Kelly has thought of everything in her cottage. Nice appliances, tasteful furnishings, plenty of blankets, movies and reading material. The location is ideal - short walk to Salamanca, Battery Point and downtown Hobart.
We had a lovely stay at Ellerslie Cottage. Perfect accommodation for us and our adult children. Kelly's attention to detail showed with the well equipped kitchen and thoughtfully stocked fridge. Quiet, spotlessly clean, roomy with comfortable beds as well as being in a great location. We walked to restaurants in Salamanca and Sandy Bay in 10 to 15 minutes.
Kelly was always contactable and arrival directions were excellent, including a backup plan.
Thanks Kelly for helping to make our special family trip such a success.
We would definitely stay again.
Ellerslie Cottage was a wonderful find and lived up to its description. It was warm, spacious, well furnished, comfortable, in a quiet and convenient location and with glimpses of the water. There are quaint cafes close by across the street with Battery Point an easy five minute walk downhill.
Kelly was a generous host. We arrived to find a well stocked fridge not only with the basics but delicious fruit, wine, ham and more.
It was our first visit to Hobart but it will not be our last and we have advised Kelly that she will hear from us again.

Thanks so much for the food package on our arrival! It was greatly appreciated as it had been a long day since arriving on the ferry in Devonport that morning.
Your cottage was perfect for us.
It's location meant that we could walk everywhere and leave the car in the carport whilst in Hobart.
We felt so at home, we wished we could have stayed another week and that way we could have watched more of the movies on offer.

Thank you Kelly for a wonderful stay. The cottage was perfect for a girls getaway and we loved the welcome package. The cottage is well located, and equipped with everything you need. I highly recommend staying at Ellerslie Cottage and will refer all of my friends there!
