We had good days in Salvador! The apartment is basic, but nice. The host helped us with advices and suggestions.
Dave makes you feel very welcomed and is very well connected electronically to keep communication open and free. He is extremely helpful to call you a taxi or suggest local sites and events happening around town. The open air restaurants and bars around the corner from the apartment are a wonderful experience and serve great food. I had the best Bolinhos (cod fish balls) and ice cold beers there. The apartments are very nice. They lack air conditioning which for hot and humid Salvador is a must. Location is within walking distance to the Pelourinho historic neighborhood.
We rented this centrally located apartment for 3 nights while discovering Salvador. Apartment is very clean and we fell for the style (light colors). We used the kitchen for the breakfasts and breaks we had in the middle of the day. It is 2-3 min to the old city and 5-7 min to the closest supermarket.
David sent us a brochure about Salvador before we arrived with suggestions for the tours (historical, beach, concerts), tips regarding security situation and practicalities on how to get to his place from the airport. David met us on arrival and showed us a view from the top of his house. He also introduced his family and this was very nice.
David recommended us some local bars where local people hang out/meet/drink/eat - they are very close to the apartment. Hanging out with the locals was one of the very special experiences we had in Salvador & Brazil. We have been to a jazz concert on Friday evening and this was amazing as well. (sunset, sea view & music).
We have really enjoyed our stay in Salvador. The apartment is very nice, it is very clean and newly renovated. It is located very centrally and is close to the Pelourinho (10min walk). David was a great host, he was incredibly helpful with planning activities, what to do, see, and where to eat. He also gave us a lot of great advice on how to be safe in Salvador. We definitely recommand this place!!
very nice apartment in short walking distance to the old centre. david is very nice and taking care of everything, gives you tons of informations and helps in any situation. perfect.
We had a really nice time in this lovely appartment. It was exactly the same as described. We apreciated the notes and guidelines written by Dave and also his advises whenever we needed them. The neighborhood is nice with restaurants playing live music, etc...
thanks a lot !

About the Host, David
I'm from Sydney, Australia, and live in Salvador, Brazil, with my beautiful Bahian wife Angela Paula and our spirited Aussie-Brazilian kids Rafael and little sister Eva. A lawyer and economist by training, I left management consulting over ten years ago, joining a nonprofit organization working across Africa and Latin America, before meeting my wife and settling here in the city that is the perfect expression of African soul and Latin American rhythm, melded during centuries into the truly unique cultura baiana. We love offering free advice to all visitors so that you can enjoy the well-kept secrets of Salvador; eg. live jazz at sunset at the restored customs house overlooking Bahia de Todos os Santos, Salvador’s best ice cream on the old seafront at Ribeira, or watching the ‘gente bonita’ (beautiful people) and tackling a great surf break at a classic beach bar on the northside of the city, and – of course – all the best live music events and festivals for which the city is renowned. Seja bem-vindo!
