  • Dave is a wonderful host- he made us feel immediately welcome to the apartment and provided us with a lot of information about Salvador. Dave was really good at communicating with us leading up to our arrival as well. Salvador in general was not our favourite city, but the apartment was very safe and comfortable. The cooking utensils were basic, but Dave offered to bring more if they were needed so this can be rectified. Thank you for everything Dave and Angela!

  • David was really nice and prepared an entire pamphlet on tips to enjoy Salvador to the fullest. The apartment was very clean and I would recommend anyone stay there. Thanks David!

  • We visited Salvador in the middle of the carnaval craziness, and Dave truly made our stay safe and comfortable. He is a wonderful caring person, from the first day we met, we felt that we can trust him. It was our first time in Brazil, so the customs, language, mentality seemed quite alien and confusing at times. Dave always responded to our "cries for help", helped us navigate the city, figure out the most efficient ways to get around, and find the best places to see.
The neighborhood does look a little sketchy (it is a short walk away from the historic center and a major carnaval route), walking back in the middle of the night can turn into an adventure, so beware. The apartment is very secure though and has all the amenities two people may need for a short stay.
Overall, we had a good time in Salvador, thanks to Dave!

  • David´s Apt. Pelourinho I was quite ok, besides we were missing a wardrobe. If you are two people and have a lot of baggage it might be a little small. The internet functions perfectly. A bottle of white wine and fruits were waiting for us, nice gesture. The apartment itself is safe, but the surroundings are a little scary and we didn´t feel really comfortable. Even David recomended to don´t go around with photo material and be careful at night. Better take a taxi. David sure is very helbflul and provides all useful informations. It is not his fault, that Salvador da Bahia is not more the safest place. The price is fair for the conditions and if you take precautions it is a good place to discover Salvador.

  • The apartment is well located in a calm neighborhood only a short walk to the historical part of town. David was very helpful and true to all his great reviews. He provides a very safe place to stay and is a good person. For the price, this place is a real find.

  • David was a great host, giving lots of information about where to go and what to do, always willing to to help you in what ever way he can. I would definately recommend him to anyone looking to visit salvadore, to make your visit as enjoyable as possible!

  • David was amazing! And i cannot say that with any more emphisis other than to say DAVID WAS AMAZING!

When we first arrived in Salvador we were a little scared, to be honest. David took us around the place and showed us which area´s where safe, which were not, where to go, where to not go, organised our laundry, taxi´s and gave directions where required.

Whenever we needed him he was always there to help.

As for the accomodation, it was very secure and modern. It was a comfortable environment with a comfy bed and full kitchen faciities.

I would highly recommend you stay at one of David´s apartments, it is piece of mind, awesome location and comfortable.

I'm from Sydney, Australia, and live in Salvador, Brazil, with my beautiful Bahian wife Angela Paula and our spirited little Aussie-Brazilians Rafael and baby sister Eva. A lawyer and economist by training, I left management consulting over ten years ago, joining a nonprofit organization working across Africa and Latin America, before meeting my wife and settling here in the city that is the perfect expression of African soul and Latin American rhythm, melded during centuries into the truly unique cultura baiana. We love offering free advice to all visitors so that you can enjoy the well-kept secrets of Salvador; eg. live jazz at sunset at the restored customs house overlooking Bahia de Todos os Santos, Salvador’s best ice cream on the old seafront at Ribeira, or watching the ‘gente bonita’ (beautiful people) and tackling a great surf break at a classic beach bar on the northside of the city, and – of course – all the best live music events and festivals for which the city is renowned. Seja bem-vindo!
