Family friendly, a 3 minute walk to Northwest Park! Great bike route along Shoal Creek...
There is a bus stop (5 minute walk) the Justin Station on Burnet Road. The #803 takes you directly to Republic Square Park, where there is a free shuttle to Zilker (see below). For more info or to see times, visit (website hidden). Here is info from their site:
There is no parking at Zilker Park for the ACL Festival, so take advantage of public transportation with the free shuttle instead! Board at Republic Square at the corner of 4th & Guadalupe streets and you'll be dropped off at the Festival entrance on Barton Springs Road. When you're finished rocking, hop back on for a return trip.
The shuttles begin at Republic Square at 10AM and make their final return from the park at 11PM each day of the Festival.
NO smoking. No pets. Be respectful-- someone lives here, so keep that in mind. That's about it.
We were satisfied with everything; very quiet neighborhood, close to grocery store and restaurants; comfortable house with all we expected or needed. Transportation to/from SXSW was not an issue for us as our local friend took great care of us. The bus would've worked fine for getting downtown but doesn't run late enough for the return trip. Kristin was responsive in communications leading up to our start date and Shannon was very cooperative and easy-going with key pickup and check out. This would be a good place to stay any time of year.
Kristin was very helpful with all the particulars, directions, her neighbourhood favourites, getting us to where we had to go. Very professional host.
Only challenge we faced each day was getting to and from downtown during SXSW, usually 1.5 - 2 hrs to get a cab to her place each morning.
i am so sorry about your commute! since we are only about 7 miles from downtown, it usually only takes 10-15 minutes to get down there. But clearly there are traffic/cab demand issues with SXSW… thanks for letting us know so in the future i can warn other SXSWers- thanks again Michael- y'all were great!
