Williamsburg style cottage on Sylvanside farm C1740 with 3+ Bedrooms, 3 full baths, full kitchen, Living room, family room, cozy fireplace & sun porch. Beautifully landscaped w/ 360 degree views of the fields, pond & beautiful old stone barn. Bring your horses or enjoy our Clydesdales, cows and our pig Michigan, play in the creek and hike the property. The perfect getaway for girls night out, small family retreats, vineyard tours and families who are attending weddings here at Sylvanside Farm.

The space
Our farm was built in 1740 and features a stocked pond with dock, beautiful landscaping and small Williamsburg style garden--- great for photos or just relaxing and reading a book. We have 25 acres and views in all directions. The farm is comprised of two barns, one stone barn and one poplar barn that are respectively Loudoun’s oldest stone barn and Loudoun’s largest barn. There is a manor house, where we live full time and two cottages on our land —one is the Hunt Box (sleeps 2) and one is the Williamsburg cottage (sleeps 10). Our guests are free to visit our animals (Clydesdales, one pig, two cows) and enjoy hiking the land (woods, creek, fields) and also enjoy the landscaped formal gardens and orchards. We are close to vineyards, the old town of Purcellville, the Quaker village of Lincoln and Lavender Hill Farm. We occasionally offer of venue for small weddings and other events so you may see photographers and brides walking around exploring the property from time to time but in general it’s a quite retreat with stunning views and natural features.

Guest access
You are free to explore the farm including the barns, fields, creek, woods and pond. We are able to accommodate guest horses if you work with us in advance to make arrangements (additional fee for this service) and enjoy the beautiful ride out to the famous Virginia Hunt country. Toss out a blanket and read a book on the lawns, hike the property, pick apples, feed the horses, paint a scene or just chill in the rocking chairs on the front porch. There is usually some fun activity to join from planting trees to mucking stalls or enjoy Loudoun County tourist activities (wineries and brewery’s galore) and count on us for a solid night’s sleep under some pretty amazing stars.

Other things to note
In the summer and fall we host weddings and other venue events at Sylvanside Farm and encourage couples and other venue seekers to book the entire farm and the two cottages. If you are interested in our home as a wedding venue or for retreats, please let us know and we will provide additional information. Regardless we do always book our cottages through Airbnb.
We have a little pond (stocked) next to our Quaker stone barn and 25 acres to romp around and enjoy our heritage breed farm animals including Clydesdales, and rare Devon milking cows. Bring the whole family and use the farm to host your wedding, family reunion or smaller more intimate event like a girls night away OR just bring your special someone for a weekend getaway. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Animal paddocks and pens should not be entered by guests and instructions on interacting with the animals should be followed closely. We do not permit guests to ride our horses but their are barns in the area that offer horseback riding.

We live in Quaker Hamlet nestled among other old farms. We are a short distance from lots of vineyards and breweries and other farms that often host events (pumpkin patches etc). Our 25 acre farm is bordered by another 50 acre farm that grows corn and wheat so you have the feeling of being far in the countryside even though you are just 44 miles from Washington, DC and 4 miles to town.
