Within 2.5 hours of Dublin and 40 minutes from Galway City, Suaimhneas is perfectly located to explore the beauty and history of the Burren and the Co. Clare, Co. Galway area. Although there is public transport links from Galway and Dublin we would highly recommend using a car to get the most out of your break in the Burren.
Anout the Area:
The Burren covers 1% of the land surface of Ireland and is approximately 250 square kilometres in size. Most of the Burren is designated a Special Area of Conservation to protect this extremely unusual habitat. The Burren National Park is located in the south-eastern corner of the Burren and is approximately 1500 hectares in size. The Park land was bought by the Government for nature conservation and public access. It contains examples of all the major habitats within the Burren: Limestone Pavement, Calcareous grassland, Hazel scrub, Ash/hazel woodland, Turloughs, Lakes, Petrifying springs, cliffs and Fen.
Some of the other features of the area are The Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland's top Visitor attractions and are a designated UNESCO Geo Park. The Cliffs are 214m high at the highest point and range for 8 kilometres over the Atlantic Ocean on the western seaboard of County Clare.
The three Aran Islands, Inis Mór Island (Big Island), Inis Meáin Island (Middle island) and Inis Oírr Island (East island) are situated in a north westerly, south easterly direction at the mouth of Galway Bay, Ireland. They are famous for their geological formation, historical monuments and their linguistic and cultural heritage. The Irish(Gaelic) language is still spoken here and in the twenty first century all native born islanders are bilingual in both Irish and English.
The area around Suaimhneas is excellent for hiking in the hills of the Burren and horse riding. Also located a 45 minute drive away is the one of Ireland's best known surfing locations Lahinch Beach and the much quieter and less well known Fanore Beach.
This is my home and I just like guests to be respectful of the space and to enjoy the facilities. All I wish for is that guests leave the house or room in the condition that they found it.
If you wish to rent the house for a specific period over the summer holidays or at any other time please contact me to discuss

It was an absolute pleasure staying in Enid's home. She was so super welcoming and had UNBELIEVABLE scones out for us on arrival - which were a welcome relief after a morning of traveling.
The room was so clean and comfortable and it felt like a home from home. Enid recommended places for us to visit and it really saved us a lot of time as we had planned other routes - she was amazing!
Our host Enid could not have been more welcoming. We felt like we were in our own home. The house was clean and comfortable and the beds were lovely. There was plenty of room and everything we needed. Enid was helpful with advice on what to do and where to go in the area, supplying us with maps and great recommendations for places to eat. She is such a lovely person with a warm, welcoming and engaging personality.
We had a wonderful time at Enids home. She was very friendly and gave us some good tips on what to visit in the Burren. She also makes very tasty scones and breakfast.
