A tiny and charmingly spartan room in a flat at the heart of Ottawa. Ideal for US Visa Runs and going to the National Gallery.
The room is in a two bedroom flat on the second floor of a heritage duplex. Hardwood floors, old guillotine windows, front balcony from which you can catch a glimpse of the National Art Gallery all add to the charm. Being around the corner from the market, Rideau Canal and most major tourist attractions makes the location ideal for travellers!
*** This listing is for a 7.5' x 10' room with a loft bed for one guest. The loft bed with twin size mattress is good for persons up to ~1.85 m/6'1" tall. Should you be taller, or are afraid of heights for that matter, the mattress can be set on the floor without compromising sleeping comfort.***
As guest, you will have the spare room with loftbed (twin mattress), and shared access to the kitchen, bathroom, living room and balcony.
Interaction with Guests
We can be available on most evenings and weekends to chat, give travel advice, have coffee on the front balcony, etc.
We really love living in this area as it is central and very well provisioned with great food shops etc.
The west side where we live is somewhat bobo, and the vistas of Parliament are quite magnificent. The east side is quite multicultural and leads to Beechwood and Vanier.
The neighbourhood is possibly the most walkable in the City and Rideau Centre, the largest transit node in the city, is about a 8 minute walk from here.
Other Things to Note
Ideal for US Visa Runs and going to the National Gallery.
Sorry, but we do not have parking, & the chances of getting a parking ticket on our street is quite high, so we recommend parking in one of the many parking lots in the area.
No foot wear inside the apartment
Flexible Check in, but after 15h00 is usually best, and it's not really convenient/possible between 0h00 and 10h00.
Airbnb guests in our apartment only please (Should someone drop you off or come to pick you up, they are welcome to wait in the vestibule).
Verified individuals only, and when we are not available at the apartment we can only accept guests with positive reviews.
Norie and Andrew were lovely and very welcoming. They were happy to chat but also totally respected my privacy . The room is small but it wasn't any kind of problem- it was neat and clean and warm so all good :)
My stay was very comfortable. Though I hardly had time to speak to them, my hosts were very welcoming (and kind enough to dig their iron out of storage so I could use it!) The room was comfortable and clean, and it very much suited my needs.
Andrew and Norie's apartment is located in a great neighbourhood — very close to the Byward Market and the National Art Gallery and probably a 10-minute walk from Parliament Hill and other historic sites.
I'd highly recommend this listing for single travellers who are looking to stay in Ottawa on the cheap!
Harvey was a good host - welcoming and explained everything regarding the stay. He was available to chat when necessary.
The room is fine, though was a bit less than I was expecting. Despite that, it served its purpose, and its location is fantastic.
It was terrific. The location makes it perfect. So close to anywhere. I was here to renew my US visa. It was like 3 mins walking distance. Also really close to the Byward market. :) Harvey and his wife are really (website hidden) some good advices about where to go.
Harvey and his wife are vey caring host. This place is perfect for individual traveler.
I enjoyed my five day stay at Andrew and Norie's home. They are a warm and friendly couple. Their charming home is in a really great part of Ottawa- close to the Byward market, Rideau shopping Center and in close proximity to a lot of historical, cultural and political landmarks. My only regret is that I did not stay longer to enjoy it all!! Great value for money! Highly recommended!!
