Exceptional host communication

Nestled in the seaside corner of our historic home, this apartment lives up to its name - a quaint, private hideaway that comes with a dedicated 2023 TRD 4Runner, paddleboards, kayaks and bikes.

Renovated in 2025, the apartment is in the center of town, just up from Crescent Harbor. With its hidden entrance, and maritime-themed furnishings, and infrared sauna, the apartment has the feel of a dockside Speakeasy. Great for folks wanting to get away from it all!

The space
As its name might suggest, the Stowaway has a hidden feel to it. Nestled into the bottom corner of a larger 1930s clapboard house, the apartment feels discreet and cozy. Newly renovated, the 2 bedroom apartment has a heated tile floor that keeps the space cozy. Finished out with yellow cedar, the apartment has a distinctly nautical feel. There are two rooms, each with windows giving onto green space. The front yard offers views of the ocean, and mountains beyond. The Stowaway has A small but efficient kitchen, with modern sink and new stove, and a large living room. Each room has an office space, making it great for folks looking for a work retreat, or a small family eager to experience life in Sitka's downtown.

When you’re not inside, use the dedicated 4Runner to climb Harbor Mountain or explore the back roads of town. The vehicle is yours for the length of your stay - and can be left at airport to meet you, and left at airport for your return.

Guest access
You will have the entire two bedroom apartment, along with a private entrance. You will have your own washer and dryer, along with access to a car dedicated to the apartment during the high season in summer. There are bikes and kayaks in our garage, and by the harbor for guest use year round - great to bike out the road, or to take a paddle and play with whales.

Other things to note
The plumbing is old, and can be a bit clanky. You hear the sound of water draining through the copper pipes, which are visible in the ceiling.

Otherwise, the apartment is sweet as can be. It's nearest to the ocean, just out your front door. You can see Sitka Fine Arts Campus from the end of the street, and sometimes whales surfacing in Eastern Channel. Grab one of the kayaks from the stand at the bottom of the ramp, and paddle out to Eastern Channel to catch rockfish for rockfish grilled cheese sandwiches. Or have morning coffee at the garden table set up on the patio outside the entrance. The apartment couldn't be more convenient, or better-equipped for folks wanting to experience life in town.

Neighborhood highlights

This is Sitka's sweetest and oldest neighborhood, right by the water, with access to downtown, but with a residential, intimate feel. Evening walks along the water to Totem Park, or to the Sitka Fine Arts campus to see a show, or to Centennial Hall for the Sitka Summer Music Festival - there just isn't a place in Sitka that is better-located.
