About this listing
A spacious, en suite studio apartment in a beautifully restored sixteenth century village house. Glorious scenery and lots to do locally. Perfect retreat for walkers, birders, writers and artists. Friendly hosts.
Good quality, comfortable accommodation in the Languedoc, a beautiful and largely undisturbed region of France. The room is large and comfortable; queen size bed. Bathroom is en suite and kitchen is next door in the garden courtyard.
A large lake for swimming and fishing is ten minutes drive away.
The beach is forty five minutes drive.
The local town (all amenities) is eight kilometres away. Organic market on Mondays, large market on Saturdays.
The many attractions of Montpellier are fifty minutes away, where an enjoyable park and ride tram system will take you into the lively centre.
Beziers, with its Arab market, lovely cathedral and busy streets, is forty minutes drive away.
Locally, there are many excellent and welcoming vineyards.
The cuisine of the area is particularly special and there are many restaurants showcasing game and seafood dishes for which the Languedoc is famous. We are always happy to talk extensively about food and wine and to make recommendations.
Laundry facilities (for stays of more than three nights)
Tea and coffee in room and adjoining kitchen
Interaction with guests
We will be on the premises and occupy the main house. Guest accommodation is on the ground floor and private. We are happy to interact, and always ready to offer advice on the area and attractions, but guests come to enjoy their time away, not talk to us!
Our hilltop village is one of the ancient settlements built on the bastide model. It is calm, quiet and steeped in history. The views from the village are spectacular and there are pleasant or more challenging walks for all aptitudes.
Transport is by car. We are an hour and five minutes from Montpellier Airport (easyjet/BA), half an hour from Bezier Airport (Ryanair), and half an hour's drive from the A75. Cars can be hired easily at either airport, or locally in Bedarieux town.
Other things to note
Our large ground floor room is wheelchair accessible and breakfast can be served in the room. It has a bath rather than a shower, but the bath has a built in seat.
We own a small, relaxed and very docile terrier. She is restricted to our living area when guests are in residence, but you may see her around from time to time.
Camp beds, a cot (if you need the cot, please say as we sometimes lend it to a neighbouring gite) and a high chair are all present for children and babies.
Smaller dogs are welcome, but we cannot accommodate large dogs.
