About This Listing
Hi, we're Anne and Nick, fun-loving, creative, and excited to host you!
**Attention! Jazz Fest dates!** We will be away and are looking for clean, trustworthy guests to enjoy the whole apartment + bikes, but also feed our cats daily.
The house is on a corner lot facing the newly renovated St Roch Market, just a 15 min walk to the edge of the French Quarter and right between the hip Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods.
The room is extremely private, on our second floor up a narrow staircase. It gets great sunlight throughout the day. (For those familiar with the traditional 'shotgun style' home, you'll be happy to know that we are not a shotgun, and you won't have to walk through our bedroom in order to access everything :)
The room has a queen bed, fresh towels, Wifi, an AC unit and a heater in winter.
When not rented, it is used as an art and sewing space so we do store art materials and books up there.
The bathroom (shared) is downstairs.
Shoot us an email about any question you can think of. Our place isn't fancy but it has spirit and you'll feel right at home!
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen, make coffee, and hang out in the backyard patio.
We lend 2 bikes and locks to our guests free of charge. One is a cruiser and the other a mountain bike.
Interaction with Guests
As travelers, we both love to meet new people while also giving you space. We work in education and do long hours during the week, but we are happy to offer our suggestions and tips on all the great spots around town, whether it's fancy eats or obscure museums.
We're walking distance from the French Quarter and Frenchman street (15 min), and right between the hip Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods.
We're one block away from the Food Coop and Healing Center, and a few blocks aways from plenty of bars with live music and food options for every palate/budget. We're all about giving you tips to avoid the tourist traps.
Walking/biking is perfectly safe to all of these places - nevertheless, we'll tell you where to avoid walking at night.
Most of the hot-spot destinations are within easy walking and biking distance. We have a 2 bikes (a cruiser and a mountain bike) with locks that you are free to use.
The best way to get around is by foot or bicycle, but city buses run a block away towards the Bywater and Canal Street. There is plenty of free off-street parking where we live.
Other Things to Note
We have 2 sweet kitties, so we hope you're not allergic.
The apartment is located in an oldish New Orleans style house, shared with 2 other units. Our neighbors are musicians and can be heard practicing at times, so there aren't any strict noise requirements. Just be respectful and clean and no one will mind!
Smoking permitted outside on the patio, and sorry, we already have 2 cats, so no extra pets!
Anne and Nick were really friendly, welcoming and accommodating hosts. They were really helpful in suggesting ideas for New Orleans. Their place is really nice and you couldn't beat the location! They let us use two of their bikes to get around the French Quarter which was awesome. We had a great stay, thanks guys!
Staying with Anne and Nick was great, the room was perfectly set up and they even had a little stack of maps and recommendations. The house was located close to all the action and having the bicycles made it very easy to get around.
We had drinks together one (email hidden) close-by, it was great to get to know Nick and Anne and we absolutely recommend staying with them and their adorable cats.
Anne and Nick's place is a wonderful jumping off point for exploring New Orleans. They are lovely people, with a beautiful home and a cozy backyard. Nicks art livens up the whole space- it's truly remarkable. We found Anne and Nick to be accommodating, friendly and nice to spend time with!
Their place is in an incredible neighborhood, filled with good walking streets and awesome food, not to mention some badass bars. Our access to bikes put the whole city at our fingertips. City Park is an easy, pretty bike ride, and getting to yummy spots like Bacchanal Wine Bar or Satsuma was a simple as could be.
Stay here! You will love it.
Anne and Nick were very welcoming and their hospitality made our stay very pleasurable. Anne even made us delicious muffins. The accommodations are exactly as pictured and described. The neighborhood is in the early stages of gentrification and we never felt unsafe. We will recommend Anne and Nick's extra room to friends who plan to travel to New Orleans in the future.
Anne and Nick are great hosts. Clear communication, clean room, comfortable bed and in a safe neighborhood. They have a few bicycles, and the rides were absolutely amazing, we got to see more of the neighborhood and surrounding areas, French Quarter and Garden District in a short amount of time. It took us about 30 minutes to bike to the Garden District. It could have been shorter if we didn't stop to stare at so many beautiful buildings and quick stops at new cafes. The walk to/from the French Quarter was not the most comfortable on the first night, but we met other travelers during our stay and it felt just fine after a few more walks and bike rides and tons of folks were out and about for the New Orleans Fringe Festival. The bicycles are a must use. We frequented the local mediterranean cafe on the corner for breakfasts and lounging. Looking forward to coming back. I highly recommend Anne and Nick's place as the experience made us adore New Orleans even more.
There's so much awesomeness here I don't know where to start. Anne and Nick are as charming as their lovely home. No need for me to mention much about the house, the description is accurate and tells no lies. The bikes are beyond useful. New Orleans is not a huge city geographically so you'll be surprised how many places on the map you can cover without spending a small fortune on cabs. If you have reservations about the neighborhood, don't. The house is very close to all the major tourist areas and also provides easy access to some fantastic local flare, including excellent restaurants in the Bywater and really fun and interesting bars along St. Claude. From the minute you arrive, you'll start feeling the vibe of this amazing town in this extremely comfortable and artsy home. Anne and Nick will get a feel for how hands on you want them to be, and make sure you have everything you need. Highly recommended!
We had an amazing time staying with Anne and Nick. We were in New Orleans for a week and their place was just what we were looking for: good value, good location, great hosts.
The bedroom is the only room on the second floor, so it's actually quite private. Bonus points for the beautiful backyard and the kitty-cats, Bunny & Claude. My girlfriend's actually allergic to cats, but had no problems here - the house & bedroom were both kept pretty clean.
We used the bikes most days to see the city. The bikes could maybe use a little love, but getting around town was easy & it saved us a bunch of cash we otherwise would have spent on taxis, buses, or renting a car. Even without the bikes, the French Quarter (and many other places) are a short walk away.
Nick recommended a lot of really great places we wouldn't have seen otherwise, and our biggest regret was not checking more of them out. Thanks again for hosting - this was exactly what we were looking for!

About the Host, Anne
I'm a French expatriate to Louisiana, where my artist partner and I both teach. We've lived in South America and Europe, but have felt right at home in New Orleans since we first set foot here.
We hope you'll fall in love with the city just like we did!
