Our home is a large private hacienda type villa built in the central part of this wonderful city. It is close to all the amenities that have made San Miguel de Allende such a favorite destination of so many people from Canada, the U.S., and Europe.

The Space

The casita is in a beautiful hacienda in the " centro"
district of San Miguel de Allende, within a 10 to 15 minute walk to all the amenities of the city: restaurants, theaters, art institutes, movies, galleries, shopping, and the central square, the charming Jardin, the center of everything-the very heart of the city. We rent each of the three unique bedrooms individually on a nightly and weekly basis with a minimum of three (3) nights. There are fireplaces in all the bedrooms. The Casita is a private room with its own bathroom and gas fireplace and partially provisioned kitchenette.

Guest Access

There is a living room with grand piano, large dining room. Lovely courtyard with fountain surrounded by bougainvillea. There is a unique entertainment room with flat screen TV inside a Bedouin tent. Rooftop views of the city and the sunset from two verandas.

Interaction with Guests

We respect our guests desire for privacy. The home is very large and has many areas one can count on being very private. We interact with guests only if we are both interested in doing so. We live here part-time and part- time in the United States. We are not always here. We retain an owners space that is locked. Contact us for separate pricing if you interested in renting the whole house.

The Neighborhood

The travel magazine Conde Naste voted San Miguel the #1 city to visit in the whole world last year (2013). There are good reasons for that designation. The neighborhood is a mainly Mexican neighborhood although a few ex-patriots live near- by. It is very safe with hardworking families primarily. It is in the central part of San Miguel so it is close to everything. There is very little crime in San Miguel. It is safer than any American city

Getting around

You can walk to most everything you need and a very inexpensive taxi ride will take you anywhere in the city for the same low fare.

Other Things to Note

San Miguel is a very festive town with innumerable celebrations. It is a favorite getaway for people from Mexico City. The restaurants are incredible with an international flare and good local food. The city is known for its cultural activities. Art and music from all over the world can be found in multiple galleries and venues with two art institutes dedicated to all sorts of visual arts and education. Live music is everywhere. We have high-speed internet and parking on the street is readily available if you have a car. There is a housekeeper and gardner three times a week.

  • Michael and Annika were very gracious hosts, they gave us great recommendations on places to visit, cab fares, restaurants and more.. The accommodations were great, everything we expected. Their home is absolutely beautiful, and each casita is very private. Our casita was well equipped, and very comfortable, exactly as the pictures show. Their place is beautiful, and we were fortunate to call it home for a week.

If we are ever back in San Miguel, this is where you'll find us!

  • I arrived in San Miguel not knowing anyone. Michael and Annika were So welcoming and helpful with information, restaurants, directions, and their love of the town. Their home is gorgeous filled with flowers, light and huge rooms, all comfortable. I had a wonderful suite and rooftop morning coffee overlooking the city.
I highly recommend their home and hospitality. I walked the city everyday and it was a great start to learning my way around. Very centrally located, and wonderful hosts.
