About This Listing
Beautiful palapa covered casa in central Sayulita includes 1 bath with a walk in shower, and outdoor kitchen. Great ocean view .
Sayulita's Casa Tortuga is a brand new (completed 12/2013) casa with a very original design. The roof is made from palm fronds which allows the casa to breath.
The bathroom has a walk in shower and the kitchen is outside with a breath taking view.
Access is through the front door and a key box is on the right hand side of the door. Most rentals in Sayulita have a safe to deposit your valuables. I have one also.
Interaction with Guests
I have my own house on the property in Sayulita. It is separate. Casa Tortuga is very private not to mention romantic.
Casa Tortuga is located in the central part of Sayulita, up on a hill over looking the village and ocean.
You can get around Sayulita by foot. No need to rent a car unless you want to go out of the area. Sayulita Taxi's are always available to take you where ever you want.
Other Things to Note
I have 5 African dry land tortoises next to the casa. They roam about in their space. They will eat out of your hand. They are the only breed of this type in Sayulita

Casa Tortuga was perfect. We fell in love with it immediately. Each morning we would wake to the birds singing and the beautiful view of the ocean. We even got to hand feed cactus leaves to Greg's turtles just outside our door. Greg was welcoming and very helpful with anything that we needed. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Sayulita.
Thank you Greg!
Really enjoyed our stay, Casa Tortuga is a great spot with a welcoming host!
Greg is an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed. The casita was clean and spacious, laid out nice as a perfect base camp for our week in Sayulita. Love the outdoor kitchen and patio. The location is incredible, literally a 5 minutes walk from downtown, but up on a hill and very private, so you can get away from the town and have time to yourself. Sayulita is loud at night, but unless you are out of town or in a neighboring area, there's really no avoiding that. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to rent in Sayulita.
Casa Tortuga is such a great little hideaway! We LOVED the hill climb because it got us up and away from the town and into a great ocean view. Especially from the hammock!
Greg's little pup Juicy is adorable and it was fun to check on the tortugas every morning. We had a big wind/rain storm that blew some debris from the palapa roof into our studio but nothing drastic and we were impressed by the rain resistance of the organic roof. If you are dependent on the internet connection, you will want to let Greg know as the modem is in the main house and needs to be reset on occasion, which he is happy to do for you.
Greg had lots of restaurant recommendations for us and we appreciated that there was a washer/dryer, beach towels, beach blankets and boogie board for us to use if we wanted.
Great place, just like the photos. Greg was a nice guy and super helpful. Would definitely stay again. Oh and the turtles were really cool.
We picked this place because it combines the best of camping and boutique hotels, a perfect match for a stay in Sayulita. The thatch roof, outdoor kitchen area let's you enjoy the open air, but protected from the elements. The king size bed was sooooo comfortable, you might forget there is a beach outside.
It's true, the view is great and yes, there is a short steep hill to get to the views of the ocean and lush greenery. Also, true to the Tortuga name, there are large turtles roaming the property. Greg was a responsive and accommodating host.
A couple of minor things to be aware of, the wifi can be spotty, and being on the hill means you can sort of hear the bands playing in town. But when they aren't playing, you can hear the ocean. Ahhh!

About the Host, Greg
I retired to Mexico a few years ago and built 3 houses. I rent 2. Sayulita is the perfect place to de-stress. This is my favorite place in all of Mexico, so I moved here. The people are super friendly.
