This BnB was clean and stocked with both a complimentary bottle of wine and cold beer. We never met Charles but Shon was welcoming and helpful. She even lent us an umbrella. The neighborhood was beautiful and very accessible, even with all the street construction underway in New Orleans. I needed to be downtown many of the days we there and it was both easy and pleasant to walk up to St. Charles Avenue and jump on the Streetcar. We had our own entrance and second floor balcony which was private. Sitting on the balcony drinking coffee in the morning or drinking wine in the evening was one of our favorite things to do.
We had an amazing experience! Charles and Shon have an amazing space and were very attentive hosts. We were able to walk or catch the streetcar to wherever we wanted to go. Great restsurants, shopping and neighborhoods close by. Everything about it was fantastic.
I very much enjoyed the location in the uptown neighborhood -- near Magazine Street and close to the street cars heading into the French Quarter. The apartment was lovely, clean and well equipped, and the booking and arrival was easy.
Listing is accurate, host not terribly welcoming or accommodating.
The apartment is in a great location - central to everything. Two blocks to St. Charles; two blocks to Magazine. Good restaurants such as Upperline (go there) and Le Petit Grocery are with walking distance. We always felt safe walking in this quiet neighborhood. We did have a car (recommended) and street parking was never a problem.
The apartment was exactly as described. Most places skimp on the quality of the amenities but not here -- the towels were very thick & plush, soaps were very nice, refrigerator and stove were higher end appliances.
Charlie welcomed us with a nice bottle of wine. Even though we never had a chance to meet Charlie in-person, he was easily accessible via text.
Great place that we would highly recommend.
We had a fantastic experience staying at Charlie's 'tree house' apartment for 5 nights. We came for a wedding and to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Their place met every expectation we hoped for; it is a great location, a darling space, Charlie was a perfect host, a comfy king sized bed and most important to us—it was a quiet retreat. We will definitely stay at Charlie's on any future trips to wonderful NOLA!!
Charles is a true Southern gentleman!
He communicates very clearly and promptly, always making an effort to ensure that guests feel not only welcome, but also genuinely comfortable in his home. He greeted me upon my arrival, and texted a few times during my stay to assist me and make some local recommendations.
The upper unit is a real stunner: the high ceilings make it feel incredibly airy and spacious - something simply impossible to capture in the photos. It is very tastefully decorated with a modern sense of style and comfort, yet retains marvelous original features, such as the fireplace facade, transom windows and lovely wood floors. A beautiful renovation of a historic home.
And the location is just as great. One is situated a mere 2 blocks from the St Charles streetcar, a few more from trendy Magazine Street and the storied Tipitina's club; and just a streetcar ride away from either the French Quarter or the Audobon Park (visit - the trees are truly magnificent).
Really, this is a dream spot with dream hosts. I doubt one could do better, especially if seeking a genuine NOLA experience.
