Gilles was very welcoming and provided maps to the city and suggestions on where things were happening during the carnival. As well as a great place to eat (we made all our meals so can't comment on the recommendation).
However, I was a bit surprised that parking really was only available for limited hours on the street, if at all and in the end, we parked at the municipal lot not far from the rental.
The Rental was ideally located for the carnival activities.
But the house lacked a few basics which would have been nice to have. Things like; a working can opener, more coffee mugs (only three unbroken ones available), a small pot with lid (only two very large pots and the lids didn't match either) and a good frying pan. Also, and my mistake I should have asked for a pet free room...we left with some allergy issues and lots of white cat hairs.
Otherwise the towels were clean and unit was clean. There was a washing machine (nice surprise) so for longer stays that would be handy.
Apartment was very close to Old Town- about a 10 minute walk. We brought our dog and there was a giant field across the street that she could walk (website hidden) heating was a plus, as we could warm the bedroom and bathroom separately when needed. We loved the ability to make our own food in the kitchen.
Suggestion for renters: If you are English speaking, bring DVDs to watch. There were only 2 television stations that were in French. There was small selection of DVDs in the apartment.
Gilles was very welcoming to us which included our 5 year old black lab. He came over to introduce himself and left a map of Quebec City for us to use which was very thoughtful and extremely helpful. The apt was very clean and well kept. The furnishings were modest but we wanted for nothing. There are silverware, plates, glassware, and even a coffee maker if you choose to dine in. The apt is located within walking distance of old Quebec. We were very pleased and happy with our stay. AND the internet does work best in the kitchen and dining area!
Great location for staying in Quebec City. Affordable accommodation with all amenities, our host was very knowledgeable and had some great advice on what to see. Would stay again when visiting Quebec.
The apartment is located close to the old town and not far from restaurants and groceries. So, it was fairly convenient.
The apartment had a large living room and kitchen, which was convenient.
The host said the wifi should be available in the kitchen area, but there was no access there. The host also said the Internet should be available at the terrace, but as it was cold to be out at night, this alternative was not tested.
There were noises from the apartment directly above. Obviously, it is no fault of the host, but the resident above made loud noises even hours after midnight, with heavy footsteps, water draining, things clicking, and other sounds of unknown origins.
Appartement très agréable très proche du centre, seul point faible: la literie. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour.
Great little spot for me, my boyfriend and little dog. Perfect for 2 people, possibly a 3rd on the couch. Close to everything you want to visit in Quebec City. Pics are accurate as posted. Parking was a challenge, but we found a close parking garage for a great rate. Map of the city was left on the table for us and Gilles even stopped by to tell us a few spots we should visit or fine at. Will definitely use again if we visit Quebec City again. Thanks, Gilles!!
