This is a small hotel room with private bath in our ski lodge. The lodge itself was built in the 1940's and is in downtown Winter Park. You can walk to almost all the restaurants and bars and there is a free shuttle to the resort.
This is a small room with a double bed. Perfect for an inexpensive ski weekend for 2. There is only 1 bed in this room
This is a SMALL hotel room in an old unique ski lodge. The lodge was originally built in the 1940's and over the years different wings have been added on. The room does have a private bathroom but not a bath tub (just shower). There is a small TV but no phone.
We have great access to downtown Winter Park and the Winter Park Resort is a quick 10 minute ride on the FREE resort shuttle. On site we have a hot tub, pool table, ping pong table, and board games. There is also a ski shop and a tshirt shop.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as you like. After check in (usually at the Tshirt Shop) you will be given directions (see comments under "The Space") to your room. If you need any help with directions we are generally here from 8AM to 7PM. You will also receive a coupon for discounts in the ski shop and the tshirt shop. If you will be arriving after 7PM please call for additional assistance.
There is free public transportation within the town of Winter Park and to Winter Park Resort. However you will need to rent a car of buy transfers from the Denver Airport.
NO SMOKING, pets OK with a $25 non refundable fee.
Great lodge. Fast and easy booking and check out. Good place for stopping in winter park for a couple nights or so. Preferred upgraded appliances in the room, however overall pleased with the comfortablity of the lodge
This was such a Great place to stay! Close to everything, clean and cozy with a helpful staff. We're already making plans for next years trip to WP and staying at the Viking Lodge.
Didn't communicate at all which was annoying. Checked in at the ski shop which wasn't a big deal as it was right there but it's little things that count in the hospitality business, and this is a business. I'm actually not sure if anyone does work the front desk as I never saw anyone there. The room was good though especially for the price. Located downtown but about a five minute drive to the resort.
Hi Jordan - thanks for staying with us at The Viking. Apologies that you felt there wasn't enough communication. During the weekdays we try to operate with a very small staff. This one way that we are able to offer rooms at such a low price. I am actually in the office (front desk) everyday from 8.30 AM, but I also double as the housekeeper, reservationist, ski tech and sometimes ski tuner.
Great! Good host. It's exactly what was advertised, perfect location
Scott was very nice in accommodating us, especially considering our travel plans were changing quite often. The room was in a great location in Winter Park (walking distance to just about everything in town). Although the room was not big, Winter Park is a nice enough town that you shouldn't be spending a lot of time in there anyway.
I would fully recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay. I'm sure in the winter it is a great location for the ski park as well.
Disappointing. We knew the room would be small and that part was fine. However, the bed was atrocious; it sank into the middle very badly and caused us bad back aches. The shower drain was pretty clogged and thus we showered in a pool of water. There was no real window to the outside (which I believe is illegal for a "bedroom"). Also, there was never anyone in the office to help check in, check out, or take care of issues. The hot tub was so low in water that the jets would not even turn on. I told the person on duty this in the hopes that it would be taken care of by the following day, but no luck. The only thing good about this place was the location.

Here at The Viking, we love skiing! That is pretty much what my family and I do from November to April. Both my daughters are active in different programs at Winter Park Ski area, and I coach for both the ski are and the local high school race team. In the other months of the year, we generally like to be outside. We love to travel and have been all over the world from Munich to Bangkok. Mostly, our trips are a bit last minute, we are never quite sure where we will end up. As hosts, we are big on helping you out. If there is anything that you need to make your stay more comfortable, and we will to what we can to get that done for you. Around here, we all can chat about pretty much anything.
