A converted warehouse, this New York style apartment has plenty of space and sunlight.
Conveniently located near shops, bars, restaurants, galleries, museums and the Botanic Gardens, yet tucked away in a nice quiet spot. Female guest only (sorry!)
Your room has a skylight that can be opened for fresh air. It also has a blind if you prefer to sleep in.
A bright and sunny apartment with two levels. Featuring a very spacious open plan living area flowing to a lovely courtyard. Polished timber floors, modern kitchen with dishwasher, and internal laundry with second loo! Situated in a great location not far from William Street and the CBD. Although incredibly close to everything, the unit is located in a quiet spot. If you do hear anything from outside, it's usually the bells from nearby St Mary's Cathedral.
Feel free to use the wifi, kitchen, washing machine, bathroom, lounge room (with TV and Nintendo wii) and dining area. Complimentary use of towels, bedding, hairdryer, umbrella, and universal plug adaptors.
Interaction with Guests
This is my home, so I when i'm not at work i'll be here. I'll probably just be cooking, cleaning or sleeping.
The best thing about living in Woolloomooloo is having everything nearby. Shopping, dining, bars, entertainment, the beautiful Botanic Gardens (great for picnics or jogging), the harbour, public transport, and a quick and easy route to many beaches. There is also a supermarket 2 minutes from my apartment.
There are plenty of buses that travel along nearby William Street. Handy for if you don't want to walk into the city, or for visiting the many beaches in the east. (Bondi isn't the only one). Check out the top 10 harbour beaches on the website 'thisislandlife' (sorry, I can't include web links here so you'll need to do a search).
I am also situated in the middle of two train stations - St James, and Kings Cross. Both are a 10 minute walk away.
But if you plan on going to the City, Darlinghurst, Surry Hills, Kings Cross or Potts Point for either shopping, dining or a night out, it's an easy walk from my apartment. All located within a 10 to 30 minute walk.
Circular Quay is about a 30 minute walk if you want to catch a ferry. Manly beach and Taronga Zoo are two popular destinations.
Other Things to Note
My spare room currently houses a few of my own things, so I hope you don't mind sharing it with my books and a few other things inside the wardrobe. But there is still room to hang and place your clothes.
I should also let you know that there is no shutter/door to the window in your room that looks down onto the kitchen. No one will be able to look in, but noise may carry.
In case you missed it above, I'm looking for a female guest only.
Please don't bring anyone else into my home.
Be mindful that my cat is an indoor cat, so don't leave the windows wide enough for her to escape out of. If you open the skylight, close the door to the room. She's pretty sneaky.
There is a $50 fee if the security key is lost, as this is what it costs to replace it.
Loved my stay at Janine’s and would definitely stay here again! Her apartment is a quick train ride to the harbour area and actually really easy to walk to everywhere from. It was nice not to stay in the ‘CBD’ as that was typical financial area of town – Woolloomooloo then south into Surry Hills has more character.
The apartment is lovely, beautifully decorated and spacious. Janine has everything you might need. The bedroom can get a little warm (need to keep the door closed so her cat doesn't get trapped in there during the day), but simply keep the fan on, side window open, and draw shade over sky window and it will stay cool. There is a mini AC unit if needed.
I don’t particularly like cats but I loved Ms. Sansa! Also no issues with allergies for any of you who are allergic and might be concerned.
Some tips to make the most of your stay:
- Get an Opal transport card if you’re going to take more than a few rides on the train/bus. It saves you time and also gives you discount on rides and transfers from train to bus if within a certain timeframe. Can be used to take train to/from airport ($17) if you are worried about minimum top up.
-Definitely download TripView app for all the information you need to plan trip on public transport, tells you all timetables and platforms
-From Janine’s head south down Crown St past Oxford St to get into a cool area of town with nice restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, etc.
-There is a Woolsworth grocery store across the block
-Decent hill coming from St James station, so if you have heavy luggage, can take a cab/uber to her apartment for $10
-If you want to go to Bondi Beach, can catch bus 380 from Oxford/Crown St intersection about 15 min walk from Janine’s apartment
-Climbing to top of Sydney Harbour pylon (~$13) was a great alternative to climbing to top of bridge (~$200) for great views
Janine has a really lovely condo that was very conveniently located to public transit, shopping, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. She was very responsive prior to arrival and very welcoming. It was quite hot outside during my stay and although there was no air conditioning, she had set up several fans and the bedroom had large windows that could be opened to keep cool at night. I had no issues sharing the main bathroom with Janine, and appreciated that the bathroom was well-stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and face wash. I highly recommend Janine's place for the great location and wonderful host!
Janine was really welcoming and very flexible! The apartment is gorgeous and is in a great location. Easy to get around and a cute neighbourhood.
Communication with Janine was quick and easy from the booking to checking out. She is very welcoming and even let me taste vegemite (Aussies must be the only ones who like that stuff). In my room I found super clear guide to the apartment amenities and how cool was it to watch the moon rise through skylight window in the very comfy bed?
Janine made me feel welcome and comfortable during my four day stay. She is a beautiful host. Access to the city was incredibly easy on foot. Supermarket is moments away and made catering a cinch. If you need a cab, go up to William St as there are heaps.
Janine was an excellent host! Very professional and experienced in receiving Airbnb guests. She made me feel very comfortable at her place! The pictures and descriptions of her place were true to what I found. The location is very good, in a nice neighborhood, close to the train station and walking distance to most of the touristic attractions of downtown Sydney.
I definitely recommend!

I've lived in Sydney all my life but I love to travel far and wide (everywhere is far and wide from Australia).
What I love the most about being an Airbnb host is that I can share the home and city that I love with people who are excited to be here. I get to see my homeplace through the eyes of someone seeing it for the first time. It's a constant reminder that I live somewhere special.
And I really enjoy meeting all my guests - learning a bit about their part of the world and hearing their tales of adventure. I never expected Airbnb to be this rewarding, but i've made some great friends and been inspired by some wonderful people.
