This cabin is located 3 hours northwest from Oslo.
A small cabin, located in the mountain Slettefjell, in Vang in Valdres. Its a traditional norwegian agriculture enviroment. Its located at the foot of Jotunheimen, with mountain sites such as Besseggen, Galdehøpiggen, Valdresflya and much more. Its a 25 minutes drive to Beitostølen, a centra for both nature and shopping facitilities.
In the summer you can park your car beside the cabin, but in the winter you must park at a farm and walk on your feet or your skiis for 20 minutes. Its a stunning view. You really feel that Norway and its great nature is just outside the door.
Its no electricity, and you have to get the water from the creek, which runs by the cabin. Its possible to cook a meal on the stove. There are to small bedrooms with two beds each.
We live 10 minutes from the cabin, and can help you if you like.
You need your own car. No public transport.
So crawl up in front of the fireplace with 100% silence outside. Maybe a moose will pass by, or a deer.
Wood for the fireplace is included.
Bring your own sheets and linen. Also bring candles and toilet paper. You must wash the cabin before leaving. :)
It was a nice cabin, and a great experience to stay in the mountains! We didn't see Marta herself and the communication was reasonable.
(provided that you find the cottage... - it took us a time and we asked some "neighbours" to find it...) If you like to take a bath in a fresh cold brook, if you like to think about your present time without past or future, if you like to feel you are the last person on earth without warm water out of the water-tap, electricity or super-market arround the corner... you will like that lovely cottage. I loved it very much! Our 13 years old boy didn't ;-) Compared to the cottage that we rent after that I think the rental is high for less standards. Unfortunately we didn't come to know Marta - we only wrote some messages - but she seems to be an easy-going person. I would love to go there again with a little hope that it would rain less... Thank you, Marta! Ina
We stayed in Marta's cabin for 3 nights and it was great! When we arrived the stove was already on, which made it a real warm welcome.
The cabin is indeed back to basics, but if you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature at its most, then this is the place to be.The cabin was clean and had everything you needed to make it a cosy place. We really hope to come back some day.
Marta's cabin was one of the best locations we stayed in during our trip in Norway! The cabin was very cosy and comfortable, and it was also very clean when we arrived. :-) Marta was also a very flexible host, we could stay a day longer than bespoken beforehand! In the cabin there's no electricity or water, but every thing you need for simple living is provided. We had a lot of fun exploring the surroundings and walking through nature. The stay was very relaxing and we had a wonderful time. When we're in need of superrelaxation we'll definitely come back to the cabin!
We just had two nights here but would have loved to have stayed longer. Running trials started directly across from the cabin and took you up onto an incredible mountain plateau. Couldn't recommend it more.
The cabin had everything we needed - apart from a bottle opener! The water from the creek was a dream, so fresh and the cabin heated up so quickly once the fire was on.
