The Space

We're in a diverse neighborhood within an easy walk of Buffalo's best and most historic neighborhoods including Millionaire's Row, Olmsted Parks, Forest Lawn Cemetery, museums, chic shopping district, great restaurants, w easy access to public transportation, 5-10 minutes from downtown by car. There is free, easy parking available on the street for guests.

This 100 year old arts and crafts house was designed by one of Buffalo's leading architects at the time. Personal tours of the area are available as well as transportation to/from downtown, airport, bus or train station.

We have two rooms. The Rose Room is not air conditioned. The Paris Room is air conditioned. In Buffalo, typically, air conditioning is only needed on the hottest days of the year, although this has been a warmer than normal summer thus far.

The BnB is 16 year-old Marivi's business. John, her Dad, helps with booking and communication but she does the work. The income goes to support her many artistic and academic activities that Mom and Dad can't afford on top of her private school tuition. She takes her role as the business owner and innkeeper very seriously and is committed to making your experience in Buffalo the best it can possibly be.

  • Hi - stay at Marivi and John!
We stayed for 2 nights. Great accommodation! If we go to Buffalo again, we will stay there a second time. After our departure we thought that we forgot our wallet in the room. We called John and he helped us so well as he could. In the end we found the wallet in our bag. All what I can say: thanks for help/support and book the accommodation at Marivi and John!!!

  • My stay was very pleasant and the house was beautiful! Marivi was very helpful and flexible when I arrived late at night. Thumbs up!

  • The experience was nice overall. I only spoke to Marivi briefly, and she is a very special, ambitious, and talented young lady. The bathroom was very clean, and the room tidy. The house is perfect for a brief overnight stay. I disagree with other comments that the house is located in "the hood", the area seems tidy and safe. It is true, however, that the room is quite noisy and other guest can be heard through the wall/door - if you are noise sensitive, this is definitely the wrong listing for you. Thanks again for the stay, and all the best, Marivi, I hope your plans work out!

  • Location is convenient for Elmwood Village area, Darwin Martin House, also has easy public transit options to downtown. Two rental car companies are just a walk away on Main St. too. Appreciated the easy in-out access, clean room and charming house.

  • Marivi was a gracious host. I watched some of the World Cup with John, who is very knowledgable of the area. Its a gorgeous old home right near Delaware Park and the row of Mansions. I'd happily stay here again.

  • This home has a great deal of charm, characteristic of the historic homes of the era: beautiful carved paneling, hardwood floors, railed staircase, front porch, etc. Our "Rose Room" was upstairs. It was pleasantly furnished and has a comfy bed. The bathroom was shared by the family (of three) and the guests in the two guest bedrooms. This worked for the most part, but was occasionally challenging. We were able to do laundry in the basement. (They even made a trip to get detergent in time for us to use the washer.) There was a mini fridge and microwave provided upstairs for guests' convenience.
Marivi is an exceptional young lady in many ways. She is talented, intelligent, and hard-working. She has high aspirations and is dedicated to making them happen. Her father, John, is a gentle soul, friendly, helpful, and supportive. We enjoyed visiting with all three family members and had a lot in common with them. We were there 8 days, and did not rent a car. Their home was a 12 minute walk to the Metro Rail (used daily) and close to bus transportation as well. All were reliable, clean and safe. We occasionally traveled late at night and had no problems.
We enjoyed our stay in the Historic Arts & Crafts home with Marivi and her parents. They are warm, receptive people and provided a delightful stay in Buffalo while my husband attended a conference. The charge for the room was very reasonable and we would stay there, if ever in Buffalo again .

  • We arrived around 2 am because of flight delay. Marivi and John help us to check in at midnight. The place is cozy and clean, and has public transportation option to airport. We didn't interact with Marivi and John so much because we arrived super late and check out next morning, but they replied text quickly.

  • We got in around 9:30 pm and were warmly welcomed by Marivi and John. It's a great spot for the cost, as long as you're okay with a bit of noise coming from the room next door. We're heavy sleepers so it wasn't a problem for us and we're glad we stayed. The room and bathroom were both very clean and the home is historic and beautiful.

  • Was a quick stay but I appreciate the tips and advice to get around the area and Elmwood village close by.
Don't get impressed by the ambient of Oxford road, is a little messy with many people hanging around the houses but is a safe and interesting place.
    House is clean and comfortable.

Buffalo Seminary (Buffalo's oldest private girls' preparatory school)
AirBnB, Model, Singer, Actor, Aspiring Broadcast Journalist/Psychiatrist/Politician
I am 16 years old. I was Miss New York Junior Teen in 2012. My parents allow me to use our family home for my AirBnB business. I use the proceeds of the business to pay my tuition at a private girls' prep school, where I am an honor student and to fund my pageant activities as well as modeling and acting endeavors, an exchange trip to Spain, and more. I've been told I'm AirBnB's youngest host. There will soon be a large portrait of me and a few other interesting hosts hanging in the new AirBnB headquarters in San Francisco. My profile photo is one of the pictures that was taken during the photoshoot for this portrait. My father, John Howell, has a little business on the side giving private tours of the area to our guests, and transportation, when needed. He charges a cash fee for these services. His fees for transportation are a little less than taxi cab fare, and you don't have to tip him. Many of our guests traveling by air, train, or bus, have appreciated the convenience of his help with rides to and from the airport, train stations or bus terminal. He is also often asked to take guests to Niagara Falls, or to provide a personal insider tour of Buffalo. His fees for all of this are reasonable and he knows a lot about Buffalo's history and factoids you'd like to know. My father is also a novelist, and you can get an autographed copy of one of his books if you want one.
